That said, I find the players in higher difficulties (diff 7 and higher) to usually be pretty friendly and rarely do I die to intentional team killing. Also feel free to add me on steam (Ragenrok) and Ill be happy to help you out when I'm online.
Yeah, once I get geared up a bit, I'll be going all in on the Michael Bay experience of multiplayer. I understand the ethos of the game so to speak. It's just coming from The Division 2, I'm just not looking for that Dark Zone experience on extraction when I'm just getting started and desperately need the mats just to have fun. I actively avoided that game mode almost entirely. The switch is flipped in my brain to grind my ship to completion and it sucks not to get the mats right at the end.

I'm really getting sucked into the lore as my ship nears completion. At first, I had no idea that I was actually playing a D&D campaign with dungeon master Joel, disguised as mindless camp. Nothing is really explained (particularly the DSS) so it's all trial and error and pretty rewarding. The recent victories over the Clankers were pretty great. This is the game.

Also, are there better patch notes in this business?

Helldiver

  • Fixed an issue where player ragdolling into the FRV would cause the vehicle to be yeeted into space

I love this game and the fact that all 3 races play so different from each other. They all have different loadouts that work best, different strategies and different annoyances. Very well made game and enemies at this point (not perfect, but great!)

These patch notes are pretty nice, amazing buffs to gas and mines. They are turning their new armors bug into a permanent feature since it's so popular and they are fixing the ballistic shield to be usable in melee combat.

So many awesome little changes, good way to start the year.

Edit: apperently they added a secret new feature as well, shovels! lol

Guess you can find random shovels in the map now and use them to do things like dig a hole/trench for cover

I dont game much these days, once or twice a week, but when I do, I dive. My teen and I dive tougher and its always a hoot of fun. Its simple, basic, violent fun.

I just wish some of the mundane things would change up. more alternate camera angles when diving or different angles when you first walk on the ship. The ship feels very lifeless, and I would love that if we were over an automaton planet, we could get warning claxons and battle station lights (since they fire at us from the ground). Little things like that.

Otherwise, I love everything about the game. Im not much of a fan of the squids, I find the unit variety needs to be expanded more to match up with the well-fleshed out bugs and bots.

In the fall I made my kid his suit. He has a highschool dance in a few weeks and told me its the only "suit" he will wear.

Anyone have a recommendation for the best, most useful warbond for a low level 12 diver? I've never gotten one and have enough credits when I logged in for the first time in 6 months.

Completely depends on your play style. I prefer higher mobility personally, some people like the tank lifestyle. It doesn't take too long to unlock a lot of them imo.

Yeah, I usually prefer medium armor. I think I'll go with the cutting edge one first.

Democratic Detonation is almost universally the most recommended first warbond. Check it out. Adjudicator (edit sp), Thermite Grenade, Exploding Crossbow, and Grenade Pistol are all top tier.

I finished the last of my ship upgrades at Level 73. This game has a good grind if that's your jam (it's mine). Biggest issue is once players are done with their ships, and if there's no MO demanding sample extraction, they stop going hard after samples, so joining missions with the best players often becomes unrewarding for progress. I don't like to be a lone wolf in games like this, but to keep grinding in 7-8 difficulty, I often had to run around and play Roomba for samples. I also shamelessly chained in-progess missions likely already near extraction instead of auto-search. Free samples spend fine. Predator bugs were also a problem for extracting at all for a week or so 🤣. Great game. Going to try a Super Helldive soon.

this has been my issue. I'm maybe half way through the ship at level 43 i think and more often than not I'm dropping and just running around trying to find the samples because proably 75% of the drops I do, no one collects them.

I wouldn't even really bother at that point, go through the base warbond. the snazzy stuff isn't nessessarily needed.

my only real complaints with the game are:
1. I wish most actions would auto close the map. I get stuck so often with the map open and need to do something and I can't because the map stays open.
2. For some reason I swear the game eats inputs. Mashing reload and half time nothing happens.

Probably, though from what I've seen, Detonation or Cutting Edge would make the game more fun/tolerable and solve some of my gripes. I did spend points to get the medium pen shotgun. As mentioned above by others, just last night I dived into others games via quick play and I'm basically standing around not doing much as level 60-100 people clear out stuff at diff level 3-5. I spent more time grinding level 1-2 missions just re-learning the controls and testing out some new weapons then logged off in boredom.

Does bring up a good idea, they should donsome stuff that limits what you can bring every so often.

Like what if you only got to bring 2 things instead of 4. Something tonhelp mix ot up.

Double Hp of everything

Dropping with randos at or below your current level seems to be a good bet and level 6-7 missions seem way better for actually extracting rare samples than level 8+. The super-sample cost just isn't high enough to justify hanging around in 8s for 1-2 extra supers around the cock rock. I also would put in chat to pick up samples if they saw them which helped. If I joined missions late on purpose, I immediately checked the sample count. If it was 0 or low, I bounced. Actually, same with missions 5-10 min in. If they hadn't picked up anything, good-bye. Even on a fresh drop, if there's a 100+ player Leroy Jenkinsing across the map and picking up nothing, good-bye. Chaining late-stage missions seems to work well early in the morning. I chained like a 200 sample/rares that way over the weekend. That doesn't always work, but sometimes you groove and you catch a bunch of extractions. It's cutthroat, but that's the game. Grinded last three upgrades Fri-Sun, expensive as hell, and I didn't even really want them at that point.

if i was dropping kind of late i do the same but if they are close to completing the mission I will just split off and start gathering. its the red (rare?) ones that are the pain because you need so many of them. I've more than enough super rares but that 150 needed for some of the ship upgrades is killler on the rares.

Yup, the rares will always be the choke point. I've got 1 ship upgrade left and my Super samples are maxed out, just collecting rare samples that's holding me back lol.

I found of you can get a good group for diff 9 and focus on rare samples I've had a few 30-40 rare sample collection runs.

If there is any games that needs dlss it is this one. The built in upscaler is dog water. My rtx 3070 ti has real trouble keeping up with this at 3440 x 1440.

On that system I keep the fps locked at 55 with native since this game also doesn’t have Nvidia reflex and the latency skyrockets when the gpu is pegging 99%.

If we had dlss and reflex I could probably use quality setting without a frame rate cap and be hitting 80-90 fps with really good image quality.

Steam forums already up with complaints. Balancing issues apparently and performance drops.

I didn't see any performance drops. Only thing I saw was the automoton AI being generally WAY worse than before. It was straight up doing stupid stuff, sometimes not even reacting to you doing things 15 feet away. I watched entire patrols react to me shooting something and wander off in another direction blindly shooting at......nothing.

Helldivers, get to your Super Destroyers! In a surprise turn of events that even our top researchers couldn’t predict, the Illuminate have finally revealed their intentions, emerging from the Meridian singularity, and setting a course for Super Earth.

It’s now more important than ever that we band together and stop this salvo from destroying our liberty.

New Enemies
The Illuminate threat has grown, unleashing new terrors on our citizens across the galaxy. Reports indicate the Illuminate have deployed larger, more powerful enemies within their fleet, among them are the Stingray: jetfighters that provide Illuminate support from the sky, targeting Helldivers and lining up devastating strafing runs. Another new foe is the Crescent Overseer, which has the ability to lay barrages on Helldivers in cover.

But perhaps most terrifying are the reports of a failed Illuminate experiment called the Fleshmob: a Frankenstein’s monster of Voteless parts turned into a brute battlefield force that the Helldivers must work hard to destroy.

There have been sightings of other, even larger ships, though details remain unclear on their abilities. But we can’t underestimate the squids, divers, and that’s why we’re assembling our best and brightest to push them back into oblivion where they belong.

We have to gather all our resources to face this incursion and, fortunately, Super Earth’s R&D department has unlocked some powerful tools for our Helldivers, in the hopes that they will help crush the onslaught of Illuminate invaders.

Customize Your Loadout

Helldivers are being given access to a robust new weapon customization feature for the bulk of our primary weapon offerings. Most primary weapons now have levels that are achievable by completing missions, which then in turn unlock new attachments obtainable through Requisition. In addition to attachments, players can also unlock patterns for their weapons.

Whether it's tweaking sights for precision, changing color patterns, adjusting magazines for ammo capacity, muzzles to optimize weapon performance characteristics or adjusting under-barrel attachments for the handling you want, you're in command of how your weaponry performs on the battlefield. This level of individual attunement is sure to make your favorite primary best in its class.

Old Warbonds, New Patterns
We have unlocked and deployed a stash of patterns for the FRV themed on our Viper Commandos, Freedom's Flame, Chemical Agents, and Truth Enforcers Warbonds. These will help your squad stand out to aid in battlefield coordination and collaboration. This backlog of patterns will unlock for Helldivers on May 15, with the launch of the Masters of Ceremony Warbond!

Expanded Surplus
The Superstore is also getting an emergency expansion to boost your arsenals for the fight. No more waiting for items to come back into rotation–now the items you want are always available, ready to stock your ship and armor your Helldivers with items you might have missed the first time around.

This is the moment of truth, Helldivers. Everyone to the front lines and fight for our right to spread Managed Democracy!

*Requires base game, paid purchase of Super Credits, and game progression to unlock.

I think they made the game even harder now....At least fighting the illuminate. Bots are still kinda the same although I've rage quit every round i've played today.

Illuminate are more interesting now but still nowhere near the intensity of Predator strain.

yea the ships flying in and bombing you are pretty crazy and annoying at times. I wish they did it more like the bot flyers. you can stop them from coming by blowing up the base. These just keep coming forever it seems.

I recently hit lvl131 and was curious how steep the xp curve was going to get until lvl150 because I was scared to look. Apparently my journey from 131 to 150 will be the same xp as 0-72. Not as bad as I thought, but progression definitely slowing down. 🤣

  • Fixed weapon grip issues and melee attack issues after using stims or emotes

Alot of people are going for an ODST warbond to coincide with the xbox launch, that end part really puts some lunch behind the theory.

They need to bring back "event" warbonds. I still am a bit annoyed that I missed most of the Killzone/Helghast stuff and the things that were granted (like the marksman rifle) aren't great. I have some "unique" (including the yellow, white/blue, and silver variants of the 'standard' Helldiver kit) gear, but there hasn't been a chance for anyone to get ahold of it if they missed some of the things in the past as it doesn't cycle like the Warbond-linked "extra store items".

I want a 4th faction already or at least a complete re-do of the illumanites. I like the bots and the bugs but illuminate are just unbearable to play against now. its awful.
