Hey guys,

Just wanted to get an official thread for the PS5 rollin’ where people who pre-ordered or own it can post up impressions or whatever they like. There are too many random cluttered threads.

Lets just keep the discussion here solely about the PS5 and keep the fan boys from both sides away.


I myself secured a digital version through BestBuy luckily.

Who else got lucky and got one pre-ordered for launch day release?

Only thing I’m surprised about, that maybe only I’ve completely missed out on, is the expansion slot for another m2 nvme drive.

Is it going to be truly plug in whatever m2 we want to get more storage and get going ? If so, that’s amazing. Anyone have any news on this?

I got one in at Amazon. Then a couple days later they sent another email saying they might not have stock to full fill my order on release. I really don't care if I get it day one tho.

Got one preordered at Amazon, Target, and Walmart. Amazon also emailed me saying I may not receive it launch day so it’s up to the other two which are showing launch day still.

I’m craving Demon’s Souls so I would love to get one on launch.

Got one at Bestbuy, still debating if I'm gonna go xbox X or ps5 though. Loved my ps4 but never really played the exclusives, I'm much more of an FPS guy and xbox kinda has that one genre over Sony imo (between Halo, gears and Destiny 2 all being part of gamepass).

My other concern with the PS5 is their tempest engine and how its going to handle avr setups, it really seems like Sony is trying to push their headset's with tempest and has released no info on how (or if) it will work on atmos systems to deliver height channels since they refuse to support Dolby Atmos or Dolby Vision.

Nice! I never get that geek squad stuff though. Although they are amazing at replacing stuff if you drop or break or whatever.

Me personally, i loved the Last of Us and never got to playing Part II. So im excited to try it out on the PS5 for the first time. And ive avoided all spoilers and bullshit.

Both will be great console, being the tech junkie that I am, ill get the Series X too. I'll have both at my barbershop playable with the latest games to drive in business too


I have no concerns over anything related to VR on these consoles because i know it'll just be a severely gimped version of what PC has to offer. Even on these "next gen" Series X \ PS5 consoles. If you truly want to try VR, get yourself a good gaming pc setup and you will be blown away.

I only really want 3 games ASAP Spider Man Miles Morales (ultimate edition), Demon's Souls, and Horizon Zero Dawn 2. I am not sure if I will buy both Demon's Souls and Spider Man ultimate at the same time at launch. In previous launches I'd have already preordered 3 launch titles, but now I am considering not doing that and buying and finishing each one at a time. This is more of a response to the rise in game prices. I wasn't happy when it moved to $60 and I am less happy now that it's $70. I remember reading some analyst was saying gamers are happy to shell out $70 per game since it's "fair market value", but I say no we are not happy at all. We will begrudgingly pay $70 for a game we want immediately but otherwise we will wait for a 50% off or more sale before we buy it.

Unfortunately, im almost 100% sure its staying guys. They are selling insanely powerful consoles for $399-$500. They are taking huge losses on the consoles off the bat (both Series X and PS5) They need to make this up somehow. It'll be with $70 games and $70 controllers.

Since I'm overseas on a military base, I'm trying to pre-order through our Post Exchange (PX) store not only for tax-free, but so I can get it faster than ordering on any US site and waiting 2+ additional weeks just for shipping. The PX rep I spoke to here said pre-orders should go live on there within the next few days, so I have to keep checking it to see. I missed the boat on the 1-min windows for pre-orders elsewhere too, else I would have tried to order one still and will keep monitoring sites to see if I can secure one elsewhere incase the PX route has delays or whatever and I can re-sell one locally if I end up with two. I'm going for the disk version despite only buying digital games now across all my consoles, as I may still want to use this as my UHD BR player.

Yeah unfortunately I agree with you here. There is no chance they are going to pass up the chance to increase prices across the board. I think most game companies wait till next gen console releases before they increase prices then it sits there for a few years before they can do it again. Then we gamers start talking like old folk remembering the good old days when $70 gave you the game and all the DLC ever to be released for that same price previously.

Not sure, but I'm sure it will have its own cable/adapter to plug into the wall like all the other charging stations I've seen.

I used to get those for previous consoles to the PS4, but for whatever reason I've been fine with leaving a cable plugged into my PS4 and sitting it near the console when not in use. I'm hoping the Dual Sense controllers aren't picky with chargers too (like the PS4 controllers are) so I can just use my USB C phone charger inside my couch.

Managed to get one through the PlayStation store. Queued for about 20 minutes total and it took me to the store. Showed sold out at first until I signed in and then the stock as there. Easy peasy.

Nice, got a deal just like this (might have been cdkeys as well) early this year and extended mine to November 2021, but might go ahead and get another extension now. That Playstation collection perk is a helluva good one for PS5 owners IMO. It's no Game Pass of course, but personally it's not far from it considering most of those games are leagues ahead the vast majority of the ones on Game Pass and I'll be using it to play some of the exclusives I missed from this generation.

Looks like it's one of those stations that plugs into the wall away from the system itself. I have a similar item for the PSVR that charges pads and move controllers. It's quicker than charging with the system itself, but it's still a little slow compared to some of my other rechargeable accessories.

Looked at my Gamestop pre-order today and while the order itself is still active it says the PS5 itself was "Refunded". The pending charge is still on Paypal. So hopefully it's some kind of fuck up on their site and not them canceling my pre-order.

You lucky to even get a refund. I expect them to just run away with the money. It is know stores that get closed Preorder money goes in to a black hole and you can't get it back. They are not transferring them to other stores.
