Installing e6750... question...

Does the e6750 actually 'plug' into the socket, or does it just sit on it and remain secured via the socket bracket?

I installed mine and gently pressed down on it and I want to make sure I didn't hurt it.

Can't power it on until I get a dvd drive tomorrow.

Thanks,

John

Intel puts the pins on the socket instead of the cpu (like AMD) so you simply seat it on the socket and the bracket secures it.

is it a big deal if the mobo has a little dip on one edge due to pressing so hard to get the pins from the heatsink through the holes?

Their will be a slight bow in the motherboard behind the processor due to the pressure from the heat sink attached to the mobo thru it's connectors. That is normal.

You Never are supposed to put pressure on the contacts on a 775 Motherboard. The CPU just drops into place and then you lock it down. Hope it will still work for ya.
