WoW: Cataclsym, anyone else bored and not feeling it ?

So blizzcon is a few days away and so far no rumors floating around like there usually is. I'm guessing that means no expansion announcement which would be disappointing considering patch 4.3 is the last major one and people will want to know what is next.
But you never know. I don't play any more but i'm still interested in what is coming.

See some solid rumors in there, WoW xpack, DIII, SC2 xpack....though read a few places to not expect anything on Titan.
 
I have been mostly playing around the lower level zones, running about bunch of alts through the newer quests. Work this time of the year takes a big chunk out of gaming and raiding + heroics just isn't in the cards until sometime in April or May. I am still having loads of fun in the lower areas, as some of those quests are a hoot (that one in the Badlands comes to mind).

Still, with ToR coming out in December I am kind of up in the air whether I will be playing one or the other. ToR being new and shiny (although my beta experience was so-so) and WoW being an old familiar friend over the last 7 years (off and on).
 
For VP you will be able to buy 399 gear, while raid gear will be 409. Also Raid Finder will be aviable, so you can just join raid, same as you join dungeons.

Has this been confirmed? New VP gear will be 8 levels higher than heroic FLs gear? and new raid gear would then be 18 higher? Seems a bit...high... considering T11 Heroic gear is 372 and T12 normal gear is 378(6 ilvl difference).

What your suggesting means the difference between T11 > T12 gear versus T12 > T13 gear will be substantially different. In the order of 3x the increase in item level. I can see that as potentially being both good --and-- bad.

On the plus side, raiders in heroic FL gear have more incentive to replace heroic FL gear with heroic dark-soul(DS) gear. On the downside, guilds will have fewer incentive to raid Heroic FLs once H DS is out. Thus less-raid content to 'do'.

For example, right now, my guild will still kill H Valerina/other dragon name + H Sinestra once every week or two if we finish HM FL 6/7 + get bored of H rag attempts hoping for that BiS magic-cast-cost-reduction trinket for mages/healers and mastery on proc trinket for s-priests. The trinkets are ilvl 372, but, it's better than most of the ilvl 378 trinkets and comparable to the 391s. Thus, if someone is using an old 365, 359 trinkets, its an upgrade if it drops and increases our dps to help out with H Ragnaros attempts.

Once DS comes out and we kill the DS bosses on normal(pre-heroic progression); what do we do? We obviously won't want those trinkets since ilvl 409 gear should be MUCH better than ilvl 372 gear. Normally, we'd do H T11 when we finish H T12, so you'd think we'd do H T12 when we finish H T13; but H T12 item lvls are so significantly less, the gear will be worthless. A difference of 18 ilvl versus 6 ilvl. Thus, we won't want to invest our time re-running H FL for comparatively 'useless' gear and our guild is already almost entirely in 391 gear. Hence, not much to pick up except H Rag Helmet Tokens(assuming we want those 4 peices anymore?!?!).

So we effectively have less raid content we 'can' do as a guild that'll gear us up/help us progress. Ohh...k. Interesting. Less raid content = less time spent in wow = less value for our monthly fees? Ohh, well.
 
I hear holy healing hasn't changed too much, disc is pretty different (new spells and such). 5 man healing is tough when you're under geared (the transition from quest gear to reg 5 mans then from reg to heroics). You'll be going OOM a bunch unless you're lucky with your tank. I'm sure mana regen gets a lot better with gear upgrades, but its pretty rough.

In ilvl 391 gear, mana regeneration is basically no longer a concern --with-- the exception of if you are geared mainly towards haste, light on spirit or tend to spam your aoe-heal constantly inbetween bouts of your largest heal. Cataclsym according to the developer is suppose to all be about healing-tirage where you pick the appropriate heal for the situational damage and don't over-heal to be safe. Otherwise; you'd go oom :)

I know with my shaman, when I was under geared, the goal was to riptide and HW as your basics, GHW when someone was below 30% and not taking damage, LHW as an 'oh shit'.

The problem was your sp isn't high enough to make HW viable, also because the tank's mitigation wasn't great either, so I would be mana tide and the oom pretty quick on longer fights. Now I can heal ZA in pvp resto gear, but yea. started out tough?
