When is a 2080ti refresh due to hit market?

I like the idea of switching my 1080 ti to one of those 2080 supers... Looks nice...

Why? It's basically the same card with slightly higher clocks and RTX, which it's not even powerful enough to use adequately. Gamers Nexus review of the 2080 Super is pretty spot on.

From a performance stand point, nothing short of a 2080Ti really makes sense if you already own a 1080Ti.

Are you serious? May the performance be not worth in all cases, but definetly not the same card. Btw my 1080 ti does 2000mhz @ 1.012 so it runs at that speed lol.

Yes I’m serious. And I’m not the only one who thinks so. It’s your money though.

What's the fixation with the $1300? There are many 2080ti's in the $1000-$1200 range.

Hydrocopper.

Buy the EVGA Black Edition like I did then. It's 999 and offers a 25% increase in performance over the 1080Ti + <cough> the best Ray Tracing available. lol

At only 200 dollars more than what I paid for my 1080Ti it was the clear choice. After several product returns it seemed like less of the ideal choice given the fact that over 20% of the Nvidia 2000 series were failing (I have no idea if this is still going on). AMD might release something that competes with Nvidia and it may very well be more efficient and scale-able. However, Nvidia is like intel... they have the money to launch a bigger die that is way less efficient and way in the hell faster than AMD and take a loss on hardware pricing if necessary. The Super cards are what Nvidia should have led with but didn't. Perhaps more a product of better yields over time, but they should have released the best they could and they didn't because there was no competition. The XT5700 is sort of competition. But it's not hitting 2080Ti levels of performance.

Pretty much the reason at the end of the day that I'm not buying the 2080Ti. AMD will have something by Christmas this year, surely. And at the price of Turing, I gotta wait and see what the Red guys send out way.

Yeah, I am kind of hoping they really introduce some real gaming competition to Nvidia. Happy I held off on the Radeon VII at this point, kinda figured it was a stopgap measure for AMD. To buy time to keep them relevant before the 5700's and Navi showed up. If the rumors are true, then the more robust Navi cards are going to be beastly. Looking forward to there finally being competition in the graphics market at all price points.

Unfortunately there is no reason to bother with a ti refresh. The 2080ti still has a decent performance lead on the 2080 super and AMD has nothing to compete with either.

It doesn't make business sense for Nvidia to waste resources on making a faster \ cheaper version. Unless AMD drops a doozey of a GPU, I wouldn't be shocked if we don't see a replacement for the ti until next gen.

They have reason to make one when they get comfortable with a next generation process.

What they don't have is a reason to scramble.

They just released the 2080 super and made sure it was far enough away from the 2080ti that they don't have to worry about it impacting sales, which means you're probably looking at either no refresh or something pretty far away. If they released a 2080 super that was almost on par with the 2080ti, I would be inclined to think they would be refreshing/updating it soon. Alas, that wasn't the case, so I don't have much hope for a refresh any time soon.

I've been wanting to build a new box for a while (everything), but honestly just haven't had a reason for way to long. Still rocking my AMD Fury and it keeps up with any mid level cards available today. I refuse to spend $1k on a video card, most of the other 'upgrades' are more like side grades. It's undervolted and overclocked and keeps up in everything I do for now. 4 year old card, still waiting for a real mid level upgrade.

I just ordered a new psu so i can add a second 1080ti to see what the impact is on nv surround.

Its very late in the product cycle to go with a 2080ti or even a 9900k so im just going to yolo this sli deal for now and then have 2 good gpus to pass down when the $1600 3080Ti comes out (and Im sure I'll need two)

This has been my thoughts on it. Maybe I'll just find another FTW3 or Hydrocopper and add it on for some SLI. I don't play twitch shooters so input lag is not a thing for me.

I forgot to ask Dan_D about what he thought about 1080Ti SLI for Destiny 2

Destiny 2 is actually a special case. It works very well with SLI in my experience. To give you an idea, my Core i7 5960X @ 4.5GHz with dual 1080 Ti FE's in SLI was faster than my Threadripper 2920X w/PBO (4.3GHz boost) and a GIGABYTE RTX 2080 Ti Aorus Xtreme 11G with a factory overclock. Even worse, a friend of mine has dual ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 980 Ti's in SLI and a Core i7 3770K @ 4.5GHz which is also faster than my Threadripper and RTX 2080 Ti in Destiny 2. Well, his minimums are better than mine. His rig doesn't drop below 60FPS with V-Sync using the exact same Samsung KS8500 I was using. My maximum frame rates are allot faster than the other two rigs in this example, but my minimums were far lower on the Threadripper and my average slightly worse. Lastly, my 90th, 95th etc. were considerably worse.

multiGPU, don’t do it!

From the GTX 1080 Ti onward, I'd generally agree with this sentiment. However, not regarding Destiny 2.

Everyone says this and nobody who says it is running 3 monitors.

It's easy enough to disable and like I said - the worst thing that could happen is that I end up with an extra 1080Ti.

I have 4 boys. 2 are teenagers. It's fine.

edit: I canceled the Seasonic 1000W Titanium and ordered the 1300W Platinum.

because I'm 2[H]4U

I'm still rocking an XFX 1250w... considering my system is an i5 with a rx 470 and a single 1tb SSD.... it's probably slightly overkill :). In my defense I purchased it to run 2x 280x in crossfire before going to the single GPU.

I ended up returning the PSU to Amazon. A $300 PSU and a $500 second GPU are just not making sense to me when the 3080Ti is probably just 9 months away.

I'm actually really happy with the way my system runs at the moment. I'm going to have a massive Tax return next year so it just makes sense to wait for next gen on everything.

I would buy a 2080Ti super that is cheaper and faster than a 2080Ti.
What I will not do is buy a 2080Ti,this coming from someone who bought 4 x 2080's.
