what is the real difference between a generic brand name doorbell camera vs. brand name like Ring?

I just need one that I can TURN OFF the ring during most time of the day so I don't have to hear anyone ringing my door bell. So I just need one that I can wirelessly connect to it from my PC to program the doorbell

I see the basic ones at ebay is only $15 whereas brand like Ring go for over $200

as to the video from the camera, where do they store?

then there is the Ring brand, but at ebay , they are only $31 from China, I mean, who's going to buy the ones from Amazon for over $200?

p.s. is it true you have to charge the door bell every few mth.?

I have a Ring 2020 version, it was the newest model of the cheaper version at the time. I got it for $69 with an Echo Dot. Normal price was $99 or $129.
Video is stored in the cloud, costs $30/year for 1 device.
Mine is rechargeable but you can wire it up to your door bell wiring to keep it charged up, it still runs off of the battery but the door bell wiring will trickle charge the battery.
some are hard wired to power only, some have removable batteries and some have a non-removable battery so you have to pull the unit off the wall and charge it.

you can turn off all audible notifications if you want, not sure if you can set a schedule though

I bought something like that from ebay, it works fine. It's a health product, they advertise for like $25 on some TV commerical. I paid like $5 at ebay, as they all made in china, and still using it today, no difference that I can tell. So as long as it's the same thing, I am happy

But which brand / model, allows a schedule to be programmed, so that when the video doorbell is connect to the internal mechanical doorbell inside the house, that it ONLY ring the INTERNAL mechanical doorbell from say 9 am to 11 am, and turn OFF the remaining hours

and if there is no such product, is there a product that can create a schedule and ring an add-on product, like some sort of Chime, but only chime at certain time of the day, program by me, again, say from 9 am to 11 am for e.g.

Because I just find out Ring does NOT have that function. It has a snooze, but you have to do that daily

update: Ring representative gives me a reply, turns out their product cannot control the door bell inside. But I am quite sure I read from some commerical or some co. advertise a door bell product that can control w/ a schedule that you can control the door bell ring / not ring

too complicated for me. These co. should have such a simple function available. It shouldn't be my job to do their job for them

You can definitely control the doorbell inside as mine hasn't rang in months. The only way to know it's ringing is the alert from the app on the phone. To do so, go into device settings on the ring doorbell, choose general settings and under internal doorbell settings you have a choice of mechanical, digital or none. If you set it incorrectly, it will never ring. Right under that is the switch for Ring my in-home doorbell, switch that off and it won't ring either. There is no schedule for the doorbell though, so you can't control it off or on that way. But if you're only using your phone for alerts, you can certainly mute the alerts on your phone with the do not disturb setting.

but I don't use cellular phone at all. I want the mechanical door bell to ring say in the morning when they deliver parcel, and that's it. Turn off in the afternoon and evening and weekend.

Sure, but not on a schedule. Just turn it off and on in the app. If you don't have a cell phone, what are you using to use the app, a tablet?

I have a tablet. There is an old cellular phone but it is turn off and call forward to the ground line. I don't turn on the tablet all the time neither

So I suppose if these Ring or Nest Product can disable the mechanical door bell, then I need a cellular phone or tablet to what for the incoming person ringing doorbell, then at the end of the day, it changes nothing

Any smart doorbell is going to use a phone for most of the functionality. You want to have a conversation with the person at the door, you're going to use the phone, it's not like the old school setups with a whole house intercom setup.

Update: my neighbor got a Google Nest, and he said he can create a schedule , but I try to download the manual, it seems google won't provide the link to their manual
