The Fallout New Vegas Thread * will contain spoilers *

I actually liked Pitt and Point Lookout the best. I got the FO3 GOTY, really really nice deal.

Anyone think it's weird that in the NV universe, the Chinese Assault Rifle is nowhere to be found? I think it has all the weapons from FO3 except that one.

Be honest guys. I was not a fan of the first Fallout 3. I do love the concept of the game but in my opinion it felt really off and it felt Repetitive. D2D has fallout 3 new vegas collectors edition for 29 bucks is the game worth it over the first.

That cheap already?! BUY!

So, they going to ship you the box after purchase??? on the site they only mention you getting the comic, not any of the other pieces.

Betting you just get a download link for the comic in pdf format.

Anyone else have a problem getting their FO3 GOTY ed to install the DLC right on Win7 x64? I finally got it installed but man it was one of those things where it just did not work right but when I looked again the files were there.

I liked Pitt as well. The only real downer was Anchorage for me but I even had fun with that.

Wow I hated Anchorage too and The Pitt and Broken Steel were my two favorite. I hated the idea of being stuck inside the virtual world, but it made sense. I did like how the game looked though, the thought of an updated BF2142 with those graphics at the time made me all giddy.

Wow, what an opportunity! Too bad I already have it. Yeah, this isn't repetitive. It's not like going through subway after subway. (still really enjoyed FO3 despite that)

I think you have to set it up with games for windows live or something. I don't remember the nonsense, but I think you had to do it from inside the game menu. My memory's vague, maybe google GOTY and Games for Windows Live for Fallout 3. That should get you started down the right path.

On the topic of Science not being that helpful, I noticed last night that I had only hacked 20 computers in the entire game...and I had hit level 30 and done nearly every non-exclusive (the end quests require a choice) quest in the game.
That pretty much tells that story. When I went around trying to scour for some computers left to hack, I found a fair amount of "Very Hard" (100 level) terminals left, but with almost every one of those, they simply opened a safe or door that I had already opened another way.
I think that tells the story pretty well on Science not being as valuable in New Vegas.
It clears a few dialogue options (although usually just one of several) and can open things that you can open with lockpick or a key.

I didn't like Anchorage much either.

And an online FPS in the Gamebryo engine? I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

You honestly couldn't even pay me to try that. That's a disaster waiting to happen.

They need to abandon that engine post haste. This game needs to be the end of the road for it.

There is one catch: You can't take the non-violent approach with Tabitha at Black Mountain without a Science skill of at least 60. There is mention of Tabitha at the end credits as well, so it's not just a karma booster.

At this point I think Science is worth boosting to 50 if you're playing a strict 'good' character, but I think going any further with it would be a waste.

Oblivion should have been the end of the road for that engine. Even source or tech 4 would have been better for FO3. Something like Cryengine2 would have been even better. But it looks like the odds are pretty good that the next iteration will use id's Tech 5 or whatever they are up to engine.

One of the best perks in the game lets you get 20 points from magazines (and 4 points from books) so you can really get away only having a 40 in Science.
I think that's one of the biggest keys to the game just because a 20-point boost gives you a TON of wiggle room with conversation options.

Started a new character a few days ago now that I've learned from the mistakes made previously. I'm getting all the factions together for a major Legion bashing. There are caveats doing it this way but the end rewards far outweigh the sacrifices.

The primary reason for doing it this way is to be able to continue playing after the end-battle (additional mod) without having any of the factions, except Legion, trying to kill me. My character will be able to keep leveling up and gaining perks (another mod). I want it all, Baby! :p

I found 2 game breaking bugs this weekend. I'm actually kind of mad. Yes Man fell through the street in front on Lucky 38, and after killing the Legate, the General dissapeared.

I think I will wait for a patch and start a new character before playing this again.

Does it repeat after a load? There is one bug where the Khan girl disappeared. The wiki mentioned a move to pc type console code to deal with it.

As usual, PC gamers can go pound sand. The reader comments say it all.

Business as usual. Microsoft. This makes me less inclined to buy Microsoft stuff, not more. I still get stuff from Microsoft, but this pushes me further away from any sense of loyalty to their products.

I use this, to deal with Deathclaws

I know it is only a game, but I would pay good money to see some one fire it that way with standard ammo. They weigh approx. 200Lbs and the recoil is enough over time to break the tubular steel braces of ring mounts. You would most likely throw your back out just holding it that way. But anyone with a shred of sanity would shit themselves and run away from you if you could use it that way.

Happened on 2 saves, havent tried it again. I figure I'm pretty much finished with the main quest at this point.

There's probably a mention of a console fix to the bug in the wiki. You are at the end. Have you ever seen the ending epilogue before?

I don't mind this at all. From what I remember of some other cross-platform DLC packs it seems released on the 360 first at a higher price, and once they've wrung as much out of the console gamers it's released for substantially cheaper on PC.

Hopefully it will be for less. That is somewhat appeasing. It seems like 360 users don't ever mind their wallets getting shafted all the time. Microsoft and 360 console kiddies, a marriage made in heaven. :p

heheh, with the FO3 xCaliber book of Earache mod, the rangers give you the 20mm Vulcan gun (not the full Gatling, but with three barrels) with explosive rounds. Let me tell you, that gun is extremely satisfying on the final battle of Fallout 3. Wow. The power armor seems capable of controlling the recoil.

Oh, and I also had MMM with greatly increased spawns. That was pretty wild.

I'd like to see that too :) maybe someone could be able to carry it, but to fire it, is another story :p

Maybe in the future when they develop fully functional real Power Armors, it's not that far out, I'd say 30 years top

As long as you have enough force in the opposite direction, you can fire anything with any recoil. A retractable platform/stand for a heavy gun would be one way to solve the problem. Just angle an anchor at an incline down towards the ground behind your back. Retract when you want to reposition. :p

Just came home and finished up. I hurried through and I had approximately 48 hours of game time, no where near enough to actually tie up loose ends.

I'll probably play through again at some point. Probably a lot more enjoyable if you play without going to the New Vegas Wikia.

I beat the game yesterday as well, more so because I just wanted it to be over so I could start again differently. I sided with Mr. House this playthrough. I still had a bunch of quests unfinished and most of the locations in the SW corner of the map were undiscovered. I'll start again soon but I want to wait for more mods and fixes to come out. I have a huge Steam backlog to work on for now.

Just a heads up guys,

any of you running ffdshow need to add vegas to list of programs it will not be used in, fixed a bit of stuttering for me :)

I've been looking for a way to do this, how do I add New Vegas to the exception list?

edit: found it, thanks

M2 Browning machine gun is only 87 lb, 127lb with tripod and T&E.

Add another 25 lbs for the barrel and 30-40 lbs for each 100 round ammo can to your figures and remove the 45 pound tripod and near useless T&E, then add 5 lbs or so for the custom handles to get a closer approximation of what it would actually weigh Toss in the 50 pound brass balls you would need to even consider firing it that way and you got 200Lbs ;)

Give me a break, it was an off the cuff approximation of what I remember them weighing, it was not something I was looking to be all that accurate on. Either way you are not going to fire it as pictured. :p

Do not underestimate the power of power armor. :p

Finished all 4 endings this weekend missing only a quest or two but hitting all the locations. I hit lvl 42 after the whole shebang. A quest or three were bugged and needed either console commands or a mod to fix. Much fun.
