T-Mobile is good overall hopefully Sprint does not drag them down as sprint customer service is bad...

oh and the verizon guy aka sprint guy will now be the t-mobile guy

Good if you don't live in a rural area. Then it's hit or miss. Unfortunately, Verizon is still king in rural America.

Yeah, I copy/pasted the stuff from the youtube description. The only thing I added was the link to the wikipedia page for those who have no idea what an "un-carrier" move is.
 
The use of "un-carrier" is a marketing move. It doesn't actually define anything about what they do. Carrier is a pseudo-technical telecom term. "Un-carrier" is just marketing saying they are different than the other carriers.

I did say it was "hit or miss." Rural PA with the hills, etc. makes T-mobile practically useless unless you stay near the interstates or population centers. You get a few miles out of town and you get nothing. I tried it. I wanted it to work because I like the flexibility of the phones (GSM vs. CDMA, etc.). No dice though.
 
T-Mobile sucks inside buildings and houses. And in rural areas you will not have Data, and be lucky to get cellphone.

I switched to one of the prepaid carriers, this one uses AT&T towers. Coverage is much better both in buildings and out in the boonies.... I still hit 1 dead spot, but it was only about a 5 mile stretch, compared to 75+ on T-Mobile. Not only that but I get 3Gb data vs 2Gb, and bill is half as much. $38 now vs $68 (or was it $72) on T-Mobile, single line, 2Gb data plan.

I have T-Mobile and live in Missouri. The coverage is decent where I live, but if I leave the city, it sucks. It also works in Wal-Mart but not my local grocery store. When I lived in Washington though, I had no issues unless I went into the mountains. It all depends on location and device though, same with any carrier.

Not in my rural work area (SW Iowa around Council Bluffs)...the go-to is US Cellular, because everyone else sucks for coverage. The company I work for, whom is heavily invested with using Verizon for company phones, must use USC for employees in these rural sites.
 
Wake me up when there is a brief bullet point list of the 3 changes that are supposedly awesome. No copy/paste from marketing though.

It's not really the American T-Mobile's fault that their parent company are asshats. T-Mo themselves aren't trying to claim ownership over the color or filing the lawsuits, its Deutsche Telekom.

The second one sounds iffy. Very confusing to say the least. So is it a free plan? or they are going to be releasing 5G plans and those EMS agencies will get free 5G bump in those areas. Weird. lol.

How do? T-Mobile has zero control over what their parent company does. Both T-Mo and their owners have been trying to separate from each other for years with no success as T-Mo could never find a buyer. It’s not like T-Mobile can just walk away from DT.

My first thought on seeing this was that T-mobile stole the idea from the long ago 7Up Uncola ad campaign.

from my understanding it's just work phones/laptops and it's just an upgrade to the existing service. but i'm sure it was probably answered in the Q&A that i can't be bothered to watch.

it's probably cheaper then buying every parent with a failing student a "how to give a crap about your kids education for dummies" book. but then again i'm biased since my mothers a teacher.

Not having easy internet access is a problem for kids these days. With libraries dying its becoming harder for people to get that access. Whether or not this will actually help or is just a move to get good PR is a different question.

This sounds like they are taking a shot at Verizon and their recent PR disaster about the throttling of data for the firefighters battling California wildfires.

It looks like this new network will only work on certain phones, and sacrifices speed for coverage area. It isn't live yet, but color me skeptical on this being some groundbreaking thing. I live in a small(er) town about an hour away from any major city, and T-mobile and Sprint both have terrible coverage here.

I have been surprised by how much of an expectation there now is on connectivity. Some of the homework is actually online based. Also, The schools here have "e-learning days" for when it is inclement weather, and the kids are expected to use a school provided laptop to complete classwork (so if you don't have internet and are snowed in, you are likely in trouble).

Thats been my experience but its all about coverage. In my neighborhood all providers suck for indoor coverage. It then all depends on what frequencies of LTE/GSM etc. your phone can use. Sprint was more reliable in the past for me, T-mobile I'm lucky to get 2 bars with in 4G despite supposedly 2-3 towers within 1-2 miles away. ATT is supposedly better and I'm going to test them next via Ting. I don't know about Verizon but they're too expensive for what I need now.

The only way T-mobile keeps me is this $15 plan and a new phone that can get a decent signal for just even phone and texting.
