Star Citiz;en has lots of fans (as well as detractors) that have been wondering when the test universe was going to get the latest Alpha release with a bunch of promised improvements. Those that want something new to try out are going to get it now. Alpha 3.0 is now live in the public test universe and all backers can give it a shot. Try it out and see if you think things are going well or still dragging behind. Here's a trailer from a few months back that shows some of the new changes.

Watch the video here.

If I wanted a Christmas gift with that many bugs, I'd just ask my wife for some bed sheets from the Goodwill store downtown. Probably a similar experience tbh.

Edit: That being said, if it does come out and it's legit, I'd love to play it. Graphically, looks pretty awesome.

Another holiday, another SC headline to debate about how this game is legit or not.

...damn, they are still milking the gullible idiots out of their money on this title?

How long has it been now, 10+ years? SC is going to end up going down as one of the greatest long-con's anyone has ever pulled, and I'm just going to laugh.

While I'm not a fan of this game, it's impossible to say this is a con.

Game development is extremely hard and requires tons upon tons of man hours, and this game has legitimate playable versions that show the work is being done. If all that existed were trailers and press releases, I would say yeah: it's a farce, but the fact that you can actually play an alpha shows that a heap of money is being spent on actual development and not luxury houseboats...

Well you are halfway there, I think the original kickstarter was in 2012. I don't see how you could say it's a long con cause there is literally something you can play right now, it's not like it is vaporware. It is a great example of how feature creep can screw your development schedule. I paid $35, for this back in 2012, at this point I have probably done pretty well with that in entertainment value even if it never sees a retail release. These people dropping $10,000 on ships are crazy though.

This is my thoughts as well. I spent $30 years ago and it's still not the worst game I ever bought. I paid $49.99 plus tax for Turning Point: Fall of Liberty. Look that game up, should have been aborted in it's development stage.

The expensive ships are limited in numbers and mostly bought by clans, they require X number of people to even fly the damn things anyways so it makes sense. Although, If I'm reading this right anyone can play they just have to copy into a PTU account, it's not full live yet. Although the 1 hour demo of SQ42 came out today, looks fun to RP

I too am not a fan of everything they do and also think a lot of what they are trying to implement into the game is fairly pointless. But, the original Kickstarter ended just 5 years and a few months ago. You're off by 5+ years! (y)

I take that back, as of 7 hours ago it is now FULL LIVE, no PTU needed. Bit buggy but was able to get to one of my ships and fly around for a bit, A LOT has changed though so I need to read up on all the controls and Mobi stuff because I couldn't do half the things normally I could do as it's all tied into new systems now and I don't know the keys lol

I guess I don't get the hate for this game. I remember hearing about it around the time it was on Kickstarter and seeing the occasional thread about it here but it's just a game.

I got into the new version and flew around a bit, it runs like shit on a 1080ti on high settings though it is a good looking game. It's pretty crazy that you can wake up in your cot, take a jaunt through a space station while running into other people and walking into your ship on a landing pad and taking off. Such a simple activity that really helps with the immersion. The potential is definitely there. I haven't had a chance to land on a planet yet.

I was skeptical, but their transparency and progress has made me admit its not a scheme for money, and is a legit game being developed. It still might fail or result in a bad game, but its being made so thats good.

I have to say that this far in only having one "this is still a scam 'long-con' game" is promising. Definitely a turn for the better on this forum.

Yeah, the planets, while they're very limited in number right now, are pretty damn impressive. As dead and empty as they are they've already shown to be way more realistic and detailed than even games like No Man's Sky that have BEEN out.

My only MAJOR issue even now is the game crashing or server kicking me and having to wait for my ship to respawn because I lost it because the game messed up.

No kidding, I expected to see 50 posts bitching about the game from people who never bought in or played it in the first place. It's an Xmas miracle! :p
