Who's picking one up? I plan to pick one up for flight sims. Flyinside is working on microsoft mr support, and steam support appears to be solid. Also gonna do racing games and DCS World flying.

Mine is in the mail. I hope it doesn't take them too long to get steamvr working. Definitely sounds like an upgraded experience over the rift cv1 and Vive.
Sounds like growing pains. I thought there was a SteamVR version you could use - might as well try it out and bite the lip as needed with any bugs.Got mine in, playing with it now. Really no games to test it with though I'm finding, since SteamVR not supported yet and the Microsoft store hardly has any games.
any SDE?
Oh ya definitely. People even report some SDE on the Pimax 8K's. Although the image does appear to be clearer on the Samsung vs the Rift/Vive. But after work I'm going to do a direct A-B between the Odyssey and the Rift.
My Odyssey is sitting here unopened...I was waiting for Vegas assesment before I even bothered opening it.
After what he said, I don't want it....attempting to send it back. MS Customer Support is absolute hell....they tell me there is ZERO return policy on this headset.....OMG.....get some popcorn everybody this is about to get GOOD!
WUT?! Unopened, you should be able to return it. If not, man that is harsh!
Thanks for the in-depth assessment Vega! A bit disappointing to hear that the overall visuals aren’t that dramatically improved. I was expecting a bit more on that front with the Odyssey. Will be that much less with some of the other Mixed Reality HMD’s that don’t have as high a resolution or the built in audio. How is the FOV? Sounds like the out of focus issue around the viewing periphery would also be a negative even with a slightly increased FOV... I.E. You would have to turn your head instead of swivel your eyes to take details in. That’s one thing I really like about the Rift over the Vive - better focus across the FOV, not just looking straight ahead.
And I agree, they need to get SteamVR support working pronto. There are going to be a ton of returns this Xmas if they don’t have it working by then... and that’s only 6 odd weeks away!
They now told me that they will accept the return because I did not open or wear it!!!
What a joke of a product, next to no software, not presently compatible with steam and no ETA on when it will work with steam vr...and then to catch this kind of hell when you (the customer) want a refund....seriously this has to be the worst MS product launch. It makes the Obone1 launch in 2013 look grand!
In contrast I got my XboneX yesterday and it is AMAZEBALLS on my LG OLED![]()

UPDATE:
Asked to get transferred to a US rep and got switched to automated hell.
Called back, got a slightly more legible sounding CSR....seems to have processed the return request....awaiting return shipping label.
They told me that they will accept the return because I did not open or wear it!!! What in the ACTUAL FUCK is that!
Whut? Returning without your own opinion! LMAO!
Whut? Returning without your own opinion! LMAO!
I have an HTC Vive... if the odessey was better I would have sold the Vive
Just not a lot to race and fly with on the Odyssey right now... and if those distant objects are in your periphery, it sounds like they'll be a blurred mess. SteamVR support better arrive soon and be at least as good as the others or it will quickly become stillborn.

This, smh wtf
And yet.....his opinion is invalid as well....because its NOT STEAM VR compatible yet.....which means he has not actually played any games with the odessey either.... lets not forget that he is not comparing them side by side like vega did.
Actually I have played games already, keep making stuff up and spreading rumors with no first hand experience.
Really how was project cars 2? Asetto Corsa? IL2????? Oh right you played MS game store trash....yawn.
For someone with no experience with the Odyssey, sure have a lot of nothing to say or contribute.
What do you base this on, sure isn't your experience. Don't see anything blurry in my periphery as I actually look through them now.
Never said that it was my experience. I was referring to Vega's detailed review. Item #5. Reading comprehension -1.
I'll wait for others to objectively weigh-in. Color me a bit biased as to your opinion right now, especially as it sounds like you do not have any real in-depth experience with the Rift + Touch nor do you have that system handy to actually compare it with. I'm happy that you are pleased with your purchase and that you find it amazing. VR is amazing. Please go back to enjoying that Halo demo and hopefully it will hold you for another week or so until the beta/preview of SteamVR support surfaces for Windows Mixed Reality HMD's. From the link you provided, lines like "but not all games will immediately make the cut" don't sound very promising. You may be waiting a while.
Another one with no experience and a whole lot of nothing to say.
Oh sweet. Definitely holding onto the Odyssey to check out real games vs the Rift.
