Yea plenty of stock everywhere for 4080s. I doubt any of the Microcenters have even sold out.

I guess now we truly see why EVGA bailed.I get that saving money is saving money, but if you have the $ to drop on an OEM version of a 4080, you're damn close to being able to buy a 4090 FE. FE retail prices are one thing, but OEM prices are something else entirely. Unless you're on a time crunch or just flat-out don't want to play the F5/stock alert game, it seems worthwhile to hold out.
Out of the tens of thousands of PC games, RT doesn't make even a dot for significance. While Control is talked about a RT showcase, graphically Red Dead Redemption blows it away.Given how cut down 4080 is 7900xtx might not look bad against it in RT. May be 10-15% slower but then again you gotta pump up upscaling if you are playing 4k so shit becomes more or less equal. I think nvidia made a bad move here pricing 4080 so high and cutting it down so much.
Now by the time they launch Ti series etc AMD will probably be launching a refresh to add another 15-20% on tops given the chips might have more head room in clocks.

So msi has had this in stock all day lmao. I have clicked on their store and 4000 series link and add to cart button has been there since morning. I honestly think demand is low for these cards given how they keep coming back in stock and MC has shit load in stock still.
https://us-store.msi.com/Graphics-C...-40-Series/GeForce-RTX-4080-16GB-VENTUS-3X-OC
Would say that it would be just as foolish to buy a 7900 XTX as it would a 4080, for reasons well stated earlier in this thread. They jacked up the gaming tier of cards to $1000-1200 and they should sit, unpurchased. The best values are going to be (1) the 3xxx series cards at the gaming $5-700 tier and (2) the 4090 at the enthusiast tier until further notice tbh.
If you think about it, in a new world order where they simply price cards based on the % of performance, then that makes the 4090 the best value simply because its the highest performing card and that means you maximized your performance per dollar. And that's the definition of value.
Maybe I am millennial boomer but I give credit to AMD when AMD launched the HD4870 at $299 that competed with the $650 GTX 280. This forced Nvidia to immediately reduce price on its GTX 280 down to $499, and Nvidia's card was still a poor value. AMD could have easily launched the HD4870 at $449 but instead launched it at a screaming value and it was so good - old folks like me remember it 14 years later. if the 7900XTX was launching at $699, the price of the 3080 MSRP at launch, then I would applaud that. Unless I see it within 10-15% of performance of a 4090 (as it was back with the HD4870 launch), its not a value.
https://www.cnet.com/science/nvidia-cuts-prices-on-gtx-260-280-graphics-boards/
Only a fool would buy these with the new Radeon cards right around the corner.
I mean you have to give credit to AMD on 7900xtx that given inflation they kept that cheaper than 6950xt msrp and same as 6900xt.
The problem with that is finding a 4090 FE.I get that saving money is saving money, but if you have the $ to drop on an OEM version of a 4080, you're damn close to being able to buy a 4090 FE. FE retail prices are one thing, but OEM prices are something else entirely. Well who knows, you could obtain a 4080 at msrp pretty easily this time around.I'd agree, but then MSRP is mostly a magical abstract number that really only becomes meaningful if and when you can obtain one at that price. And that's not to diminish AMD's offering - if anything it will be too excellent an offering that's too high in demand.
I keep seeing people say this, but while that was true a month ago, if you want new the stock is fairly diminished, and most are being sold by scalpers still for more than a 4080.At this point, it's better to just buy one generation behind, instead of giving in to scaplers.
You can get a 3090 or 3080Ti at decent price points, and still have a beastly card. Or wait a year for and pick up a 4090 at more reasonable prices.
Don't waste the gas. There are 4080's still available randomly on Newegg, the Zotac store, etc.I would have to drive to a different state to get one not sure if I want to do that.
Prob need a GPS. 350 miles 4.5 hour drive.

This generation in particular - You gain almost nothing over the base cooler any AIB is putting on these cards, and any factory OC is easily achieved. That Strix is $50 less than the MSRP of a 4090. I know we've talked about it to death, but it's still breathtaking to actually SEE it for sale. That makes zero zip nada NO sense to buy. Even the ASUS TUF is $200 over MSRP. The Zotac would be the one, but still... $1200. The "worst" (is there even such as thing?) 4090 will demolish all these cards.
But yeah If I was really going to overpay for these I'd stick with the $1200 card no matter what the brand. Not one cent more.
Personal opinion, but I think the FE cooler is leagues better than any AIB this generation. Nvidia certainly put in a lot of work in making it amazing. This generation in particular - You gain almost nothing over the base cooler any AIB is putting on these cards, and any factory OC is easily achieved.
The base coolers from like MSI, etc do a better job just due to the immense size. However, the nvidia cooler is amazing for sure.Personal opinion, but I think the FE cooler is leagues better than any AIB this generation. Nvidia certainly put in a lot of work in making it amazing.

Ha! I kind of forgot about the reviews showing the 4090 card size because of the coolers, which is the same cooler on all(?) AIB's 4080s. So yes, a smaller Founder's cooler is a big big deal with these even if you have a fairly good size case. The FE fits in your case![]()

Guess people aren't running out to buy them, that's probably good news for consumers long term. Also, it's officially holiday season, this is the time of year they should be selling the most. So it's a recently launched product and it's holiday season... yeah.
