That's not too bad. It's expected that 3655 (no backplate) is slower, I'm sure there's way more orders of those than the more expensive 3657 with backplate and minor factory OC. Still, this is faster than expected - I'm minute 29, so perhaps in a couple weeks I'll hear back - if I don't get the Newegg shuffle!

For what it's worth I crunched the numbers on the 3060 Ti queue a few days ago and they're clearing about 2-3 minutes of queue per day.
 
6 hours on my PC since I woke up this morning, always paying attention to the tracker, like I do every day while I work. I go to the living room to watch something for 25 minutes while I eat lunch and of course:

FML. I guess I'm mostly relying on EVGA's 3060 notify at this point.

I have had zero luck getting 30 series cards. 6XXX cards are the only ones I've been able to get in my cart.

I turned Distill off to do EVGA's queue and afterwards when I turned it back on I immediately got FE pops from Best Buy which means they were already in-stock.
Now there's a 3080 FE still in my cart so I can at least checkout instantly without queueing next time they restock.

Setup Distill to run 5-10 second intervals on any BB page you want & tell it to "Open In New Tab" on detection, along with the word "Cart" detection obviously. Then setup AutoHotkey to scan for the "Add To Cart" button constantly and automatically click it.

This will allow you to immediately enter the "Please Wait" queue without even being at your PC. You will need to manually complete checkout, though.
 
Guys, i'm telling you, the discords are a FAR better way to catch BB drops. Trying to do it yourself is just a recipe to miss something.

Personally, if you're not already familiar with Discord, it is an insanely confusing system to use. My friends insist that I play Destiny 2 on it with them, and I'd rather just stay quiet. I find it so confusing. It's probably just me, but I'd rather get a GPU literally any other way.

Even with Distill, I would've missed it as my computer went to sleep while I was eating lunch. Seriously, had it just happened 15min earlier or later... but no, right in the middle. Damn it Best Buy, you disappoint me once again.

If they're basing this one off GA106 with an intentional 30% gap in performance, they need to get the price back down below $300. The 1660 Ti was a better-launch price than this one (and you could also price the cut one + 14 Gbps ram at 1660 price!)

The best part: this fucking card is THE EXACT SAME FUCKING die sze as thew 1660 Ti (so there is no fucking excuse here for tiny price gap). I foresee a slighltly-cut 3060 Super in 12 months for $230!

If Nvidia can keep these in stock at near MSRP prices, they should sell well. While the 3060 Ti at MSRP is a much better value card, not many will ever be able to buy one at MSRP right now. As for AMD response or more likely lack thereof, they could have owned this generation of PC GPUs, to late now.
 
Anyone had any luck actually getting one at $330? I saw multiple models listed by Best Buy and Newegg listed for that, but are they actually being made and sold in decent numbers? It seems Best Buy has been deleting product pages... only 2 3060s show up now. Newegg still has 10 models listed, 4 of them at $330.

$330 seems reasonable given the market conditions compared to what 3060Tis and other cards actually seem to be going for, especially with the tariffs that kicked in at the beginning of the year. Everything is up. 3080 $800+, 3070 $600+, etc. I see 1660 Supers and 5600XTs in stock occasionally, and they're generally over $300. $330 for a 3060 is a deal on price/perf compared to those two. I had a quick look around and it seems like the 3060Tis start at about $460 except for the FE from Best Buy at $400. So 39% more than $330 if you figure $460 is the normal price for a 3060Ti. $400 for the FE is the you lucky bastard discount lottery price now. If you back out the 15% tariffs/Etherium/etc. madness price increase on a basic 3060Ti ($400->$460) from $330 you get $287. Call it $289.99. If we didn't have this madness going on I think this would be a sub-$300 card, at most $299.99.
 
This card is an actual joke.

I thought it pretty telling that a lot of reviewers kept comparing it to the 1060 as if the 2060 and 2060 Super didn't exist. This thing is basically no uplift (marginally better) than last gen same 60 class cards. Does anyone remember how the 1060 6GB matched previous gen 980?

This really should have been the 3050 with the full die model as the 3060. But that's ok, you get 12GB! :clown:

I suspect they can take really take their time on that, considering the model over $600 sold out near instantly.

My first uneducated thought is that card is a bit of a bad one that will sell just because of the market, outside some weird scenario of ultra high texture in an otherwise simple high resolution game, when spending money on that quantity of ram of that strength of a gpu ever by a wise choice....
Maybe mesh shader will save it and make a jump from Pascal make it look not that crazy in 2022 (and by then at a good price as well)
 
Well today I lucked out and won the Newegg shuffle and was able to purchase an EVGA 3060 XC...It's not really any faster then my Sapphire Pulse 5700xt but it has ray tracing which is what I like so I think I'll swap them out. I would sell the Pulse 5700xt here for below what I paid for it but I haven't reached the 100 post minimum yet...

Yes, sorry, let me be clear: I’ll be getting double the performance. For me it’ll be a big upgrade. That doesn’t mean the card is good value though (historically speaking), compared to the 3060 Ti, but I just can’t manage to buy it at msrp.

I’m hoping the 12GB will allow the 3060 to age gracefully. I really can’t complain about how my 1060 3GB is performing 4 years into ownership.

The main problem is it doesn't spank the 2060 Super. It's almost even with it. Just a wee bit ahead most of the time, but still almost even. Price wise I think it's ok compared to the messed up prices everything else is going for right now if the $330 cards are actually being made and sold in decent volume, but it should have been a 3050Ti or something like that.

3050 should have a 128-bit memory bus, but the Ti can be a cut-down version of a 3060. Oh, and wait. The 3060 chip has disabled cores. Guess we'll be getting a 3060 Super with those cores turned back on. Probably higher clocks too, and maybe GDDR6X. I'm thinking broader use of GDDR6X is part of the plan for the mid-cycle refresh. Right now only the 3080 and 3090 use it.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing in saying this should be a 3050, but yeah a 3050 Ti makes sense.

Honestly who knows. I don't understand why they put 12GB on this thing.

It's a mix of marketing and chip design. The 3060 has a 192-bit bus like the 1060 and 2060 before it (not the 2060 Super though -- that was 256-bit). That bus width means their options for memory size are 3GB, 6GB, 12GB, 24GB, etc. 3x a power of 2. I think we'll get a 6GB version. The 1060 launched as a 6GB card and a 3GB version came out a month later. I'm guessing that will repeat with a 6GB 3060 following the 12GB version, though it may be more than a month.

The other reason is marketing + dumb consumers. MOAR = BETTAR! There are a lot of people who don't know what they're doing, don't read reviews, and don't study benchmarks before buying vid cards. NV wants to sell new cards to all of those people, but a lot of them have 6GB 1060s, 2060s, and 1660 series cards. So they need MOAR to get them to bite.

Oh I understand the memory design as a 192-bit card aspect. I just really expected to see this as a 6GB card considering 8GB 3060 Ti and 3070, and 10GB 3080 which is the real knee-slapper in this equation when looking at the stack strictly in terms of capacity.

But yeah, I think its marketing too. Even though they barely exist, 16GB RDNA2 cards definitely showed them up from a marketing standpoint on that front as will a theoretical 12GB 6700XT. Guess they had to match it...:ROFLMAO:
 
The biggest problem I see here is stock. People can't get a 3070 or 3080 so they'll get this 3060 thinking it's something special and it's not. I looked at prices and the FE is $329, most of the others were gonna cost $400+after tax, hell the strix card is $509 I think before tax. At this point anything they release that people can buy will sell like hot cakes. I'm very thankful I got my 3070 FTW3 directly from evga using the queue system, this shit is crazy
 
Reviews were unimpressive compared to the 2060. Normally, this is the point where I would say something about just getting the 2060 and saving money. But...you know....GPU crisis.

Get what you can.
 
I just cannot wrap my head around the VRAM rollercoaster on current Nvidia line up. My 3070 is a great card but is slightly held back by the lack of VRAM, it could definetly use more when I push the resolution and texture quality up on 4k levels. Enter vanilla 3060 with 12gb VRAM, the very amount that would be a sweetspot for 3070 but is entirely wasted on this low end gaming card. You are never going to push 3060 so hard that would need 12gb, hell the card would run out of juice and render unplayable FPS long before you use even half of the available VRAM! What were they thinking!?

My post wasn't meant to be disrespectful, apologies if it came out that way. But this has been covered often, in this thread and others. There's not one answer, but everything keeps pointing to the same: memory configuration choices, marketing.
 
My queue popped for the backplate, not sure if I will bother getting it.

Nice, that queue is advancing fast. They've gone through 15 minutes of orders in 2 days. I wonder where they are processing the non-backplate card (the actual $329 one). I'm guessing there's a ton more orders of that one (myself included!).

Nope both queues only moved forward approx 1 minute today.
XC from 06 to 07 (mine was 12:07:11).
Black from 01 to 02.

EVGA was most likely clearing the last of their initial stock.

Why would they sell that one when they can slap a $5 backplate on it, throw on an "OC" firmware and charge an extra $70 for it?

See also the lack of availability of any other card other than the "Ultra Gaming" versions. I put in a 9/17 notify on the 3080 XC3 Gaming and have yet to see a notify for it when the higher end FTW3 and XC3 Ultra Gaming have been moving right along with their queue. I didn't want to pay the extra $20 for a factory OC'd card when I could do it myself. Looks like they showed me!

^ Welcome to the club. In a few weeks,you'll settle for anything new. I went from a 3070 FE --> 3060ti FE and now will accept anything 3060.
