I know its not a "gaming" monitor but i do wonder how much worse off the response time is of the PA32UCG compared to PG32UQX.

Seems the PA32UCG is extremely scarce in terms of popularity and reviews its essentially a UQX without gsync but it has HDMI 2.1

PA32UCG is a bit slower because of the backlight not response time. PA32UCG has a slower backlight without G-sync. The backlight cannot respond fast enough compared to PG32UQX. When the pixel moves the local dimming will eventually becomes a square instead of a circle.

Would you happen to know if PQ clip is the preferred setting for consuming HDR content/Gaming using BT 2020 over DCI P3 it has a much larger color range and the difference is vast.

It is super quiet and I have to put my ear up the the exhaust vents to hear it, but this is kind of alarming. I really do not want to run the fan 24/7 as It will be the first point of failure. Does anyone know how to disable this, or is anyone else running into the same issue?

I got a surprise day off due to much of KC being shut down so I am thinking of driving up there to get this. Hopefully that portion will not have the roads closed. Interesting, I will have to do some further testing. I just turned on deep sleep for the ports in the OSD and see if that makes a difference.

PG32UQX won't use a worse fan than PG27UQ. But if PG32UQX uses a custom fan it will be harder to find.

The fans on PG27UQ are server fans that can run at a lot higher rpm than they typically run on the monitor. A server fan is designed to run 24/7. It is not deigned to run quiet. When there is dust accumulated it can run louder but it still runs regardless. Most hardware problems from PG27UQ are from the drive board, not the fans. A server fan is very easy to source and replace if it gets louder.

Strange, my PA32UCX stays on the smaller dimming zone squares without changing. If I take the HDR brightness down from MAX though then it uses the larger squares.

In the test footage, the dot is graded at 10,000nits so the monitor can output max brightness against a grey background to show high contrast local dimming.

PA32UCX has only 60Hz. It's easier for each miniLED to shift brightness. When you see squares it means the backlight is still in the process of shifting brightness. The contrast will be lower during that time. The squares should be back to a smaller size circle when the image is stationary.

I have a QN90A and a C2 i regulated the QN to the lounge room and the C2 upstairs in the bedroom as it looked like shit in natural lighting its so freakin dim especially in outdoor movie/tv scenes holy shit if i make my lounge room cave like darkness then sure it looks good.

There is no reason to take a OLED over a high quality panel like the QN90A indistinguishable input lag difference on the ps5 and you have to babysit it.

i have ucx, it support dolby vision, for example mass effect andromeda support dolby vision ingame, but i cant enable it because windows dont support it...maybe on mac?

my dolby vision and hlg is grayed, i can't select from monitor

Have you updated the firmware? PA32UCG had Dolby Vision locked until a firmware release. Then it has a Dolby Vision option under the System Setup sub menu.

PA32UCG has the build-in Dolby Vision to do dynamic tone mapping out of any content. PA32UCX should be the same.

yes i have MCM105 firmware, there is only an update mcm106 with this fix

After the firmware update, UCG can always select the Dolby Vision. The option is in the System Setup submenu. It works in Windows 11 with displayport, HDMI.

PA32UCG is in the office. I will take a screenshot when I get back.

You should also file an email to ASUS if you cannot enable Dolby Vision on PA32UCX unless the monitor still does Dolby Vision on a software level just like normal HDR monitors. I don't think that is the case.

You have been so helpful mate in this thread especially on the UCG where its impossible to to get any help with.

Do you use it in the office primarily working with HDR consumption for 10+hrs? and do you leave the monitor shroud on it the whole time? because i was told by ASUS support not to as it overheats the monitor..

I didn't put the shroud on. The monitor was in the conference room for the HDR presentation. Now I just leave it in the break room to be constantly used by everybody. It's a monitor from gaming to professional grading. Somebody can use it to edit Dolby Vision with iPhone footage.

Agree its extremely versatile got a PS5 connected to it as well for work breaks i want to use the shroud but obviously dont wanna overheat it.

HDR_HLG DCI and HDR_HLG BT2100 are available when an upstream playback device is connected such as Black Magic Ultrastudio.

On Windows Dolby Vision only works with 8bit in PA32UCG. You can try to set the color to 8bt YCbCr444 in the Nvidia Panel then check if Dolby Vision is available.

tried 8bit ycb444 nothing not work...i have installed "dolby vision extension" too...i have read that work on app netflix but i dont have it to try.

I want to point out that when this monitor released I was one of the early adopters that ordered within minutes of it going live. It was from what I remember a March 2021 manufacture date and FALD 3 mode was completely unusable due to the flickering zones on/off. I'm using a friends August 2021 monitor and FALD 3 does not at all exhibit the same crazy flickering as the initial batch did. In fact I'd only use FALD 3 now because it really helps improve contrast over FALD 2. Seems like these monitors went through quite a few iterations because bloom in general is far less pronounced than my initial monitor using the same games/videos to test.

Nah this is a completey different monitor. All of the videos on YouTube about FALD blooming is how my first monitor looked. This one doesnt flicker adjacent zones on and off constantly as highlights move across the screen.

Exactly, any FALD monitor will exhibit this symptom when transiting between zones. Its more noticeable in certain scenes of course.

It also depends on the sampling algorithm and image processing speed. The monitor has to use G-sync to analyze image first then send signals to the backlight. The backlight also needs fast enough chips to shift brightness.

If the processing is too slow to catch up with a moving highlight then the highlight local dimming won't show up. The highlight dot will become a dim dot after image moves too fast. The backlight won't shift.

When I test the local dimming with below pattern I can change however fast the dots go. When a dot moves too fast from A to B then stops suddenly, it has a chance to becomes a dim dot. Only after the dot starts to move again the monitor will re-adjust the local dimming.



If the dot moves at lower speed the backlight will shift constantly. The more powerful the chips are the more precise the backlight shifts. The future monitor is more like a computer with a built-in GPU.
