Love the improvements to Safari. They've merged the address bar with the search bar. Single-click selects everything on the bar. Two features that I always liked in Google Chrome. Oh and it seems snappier than the previous version.

I've got Safari 6 on Lion. I agree, it's about time they merged the two bars. On the flip side, WHY did they have to make the tabs ginormous?

o_O I was always told that "draining Lithium batteries damages them and will permanently decrease battery life" is this no longer true?
Draining Lithium batteries past their low point is really bad for them and will kill them.

However, your MacBook has advanced circuitry to make sure that never happens. When you get to 0%, it's still very much safely above the low point.

The best thing I can say about 10.8 is that I never had any qualms with 10.7 until after I installed 10.8

Nice release. Everything's so... creamy.

My early 2008 MacBook Pro definitely runs a lot more smoothly.

I'm still debating if it's worthwhile and advantageous to do a clean install.

Ugh.

I want my phone to be more like my computer, not my computer to be more like my phone.

This and Windows 8 are both disheartening trends :(

This is exactly why I refuse to go to windows 8. It's downright insane to try and make a "phone" style interface on a desktop with a mouse...

True,

But if you drain it down to 0%, and then don't charge it for a while, allowing it do discharge on its own further below the safety level, you can still get to the deep discharge level.

It's just not that common with all the protective circuitry computers and other devices tend to have these days.

I agree, but why do these trends exist?

Also, it really pisses me off to see all this social media stuff built into the OS. I wont use any I'd that, though I will use cloud storage for things that make sense for that.

Weird, so you guys got the free upgrade code with the new mac purchase and are now relegated to waiting in line for the DL over other customers? Seems kinda F'd up to me, by 6hrs I probably would have been on Apple Support trying to see what the hell the wait was for and/or back at the store.

Apple had a problem with the system that distributes the codes. A lot of people got a Mac OS X Server code by mistake, and a bunch of people haven't gotten a code at all yet. It's been almost two days, and there's no response from Apple other than that they are working on it.

Okay, this is unbelievable. Mountain Lion has somehow made my rMBP worse.

None of my videos seem to be playing back smoothly via QuickTime after the update. Tried it in VLC and had the same problem.

Any type of hyper smoothing or anything in video that could be turned off? Also, since you have an rMBP maybe QT and VLC are not compatible yet?

Well, this is insanity. The videos now seem to play back fine. Maybe the dGPU wasn't kicking in for some reason.

I am seeing some weird things, though---I woke my MacBook and saw nothing but a pure white screen, and it took some time until the desktop actually kicked in. I'm thinking about doing a clean install...

Huh... strange... My wife has a 2011 (Christmas build) MBP and she dl'd and installed last night. She has not voiced having any issues and actually is incredibly happy with it so far. I have yet to dl for my iMac.

I'm from the PC world, so to me they when said "upto 72 hours" I expect 71 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds from when I registered I'll get the code, discounting any holidays or weekends (meaning monday night in my case since I registered after midnight last night/this AM)

I'm not chomping at the bit to get it anyway, since most of the iOS integration is presumably only going to happen once iOS6 is released (and I dont plan on upgrading untill there is a jailbreak for it)

Installed on both my machines - 2008 Unibody Macbook and 2011 13" Air. Runs great, haven't noticed any issues yet. The 2008 feels snappier and Safari 6 is faaaast.

But the one question I have, is game performance improved in mac osx now? I can run L4D2 on medium with 45+ fps with my 13 inch 2012 macbook pro, but is it at all improved in mountain lion?

I think your best bet is to use bootcamp for gaming.

Does it bother anyone that you cannot use the delete/backspace key to navigate backwards in Safari 6? I haven't upgraded, and frankly if that is how it is in Safari 6, I mat have to ditch using the browser altogether, since I use it all the time. What genius thought that removing one of the most basic and universal keyboard shortcuts in web browsers was a good idea?

I didn't even realize until you mentioned it. I use touch gestures for navigating now though, so it doesn't make much difference to me, but it would probably piss me off if I used the Windows version of Safari. (Apple has yet to update Safari for Windows to version 6)

I never use it, except when I think I'm going to erase what I just typed...but get sent one page back. I just swipe the trackpad to go back/forward in Safari.

same here...I really disliked that "feature" so much so that I stopped using the delete key when browsing.

Eh, it plays it beautifully, Im fine with anything over 30fps on native res and not worth the hassle of booting into windows when I want to play games. I just pray to Cthulhu that Guild Wars 2 gets a native OSX client :3
