Oculus Giving $250k For VR-related Research On Human Perception

If you are a VR developer in need of funding, check this out. Oculus has put together a $250,000 fund for research projects that will be completed within the next one or two years.

Heads up, VR devs: Oculus Research has issued a call for research projects "that advance perceptual science as it relates to VR," with $250,000 to distribute between 1-3 proposals it expects to select by the end of the month. This is squarely aimed at researchers affiliated with academic institutions, so any VR devs with such ties should be aware of the call for proposals.

Despite what misgivings people have for Oculus joining with Facebook, it has been a pretty smart move and Oculus is definitely at the forefront of VR tech. They already have a completely portable AIO type headset with no wires and full spatial roomscale tracking. Basically GearVR with the ability to walk around. They just really really needed that seed money to keep going.
