Nest Camera Gains Enhanced Spying Abilities

Actually, I spelt realise correctly... which you would understand if you took your head out of your arse for a moment and realised that you Americans bastardised the English language with your love of Z's. By all means though, please feel free to continue seeing the world through your narcissistic perception.

I don't think you're using narcissist correctly here.

Until 10 years from now when a new Stalinist regime and administration comes into power, and looks at everyone's records.
Then suddenly, you are being escorted to a federal prison because everything you thought you did right in this present-era is now considered very wrong in that era, and you are punished for it, severely.

Everyone thinks the current administration and their beliefs will remain in power forever.
The Obama administration ended and the Trump administration began when absolutely everyone said that would never happen, yet here we are.

Enjoy that "nothing to hide" belief it while it lasts! :D

I mean if this is the kind of fear you live with everyday then I am sorry?

First thing that came to mind was the Tom Hanks / Emma Watson movie "The Circle." The Circle is a fictional Google + Facebook monster that installs mini cameras all over the world who's business is to get into your business. I thought it was ridiculous when it first came out, but it seems like people are taking notes and marketing those ideas.

Alooominum. :troll:

Your anger is amusing, and you implying that I am a narcissist is somewhat ironic considering how this conversation started.

For the record... The -ise form originated AFTER the -ize forms of those words, which itself originates from Greek verb endings spelled with a z. Look it up. It has absolutely nothing to do with Americans or American English in general. Stating as much only shows ones ignorance (or arrogance as the case may be) considering British English more or less invented the -ise form in contrast to other much older Etruscan and Greek derived languages. It should also be noted that the Oxford English Dictionary uses and recommends the -ize forms of the words, in most cases.

That said, according to a majority of publications on the matter, you spelled it wrong. :ROFLMAO::p

I have an Echo in each room of the house. I also have multiple wifi cameras, a Nest thermostat and smart TVs. I have philips hues in every room. I also have a smart watch that monitors my physical activity and sleep patterns. I love being connected to the internet 24/7, I love knowing that information is a simple voice command or finger swipe away. I really am one of those people with nothing to fear. I live a normal life just like everyone else and honestly don't see why I should be afraid of it. Everyone has the right to privacy, why shouldn't I have the right to willingly give it up? Equifax, Transunion, Equifax and OPM already did that for me anyway.

I give up certain aspects of my privacy for convenience. I'm online, so most of my privacy is already gone and my information is out there. If I have something private to say/do, I have ways to do that both online and offline.

People have the right to privacy and they aren't wrong. People have the right to give up that privacy if they choose to, and they aren't wrong. Some people are just on their high horse that everyone should be the same and fear the corporation and government. Sure, I have a fear of that, but I choose what privacy I give up. I already have a strong online profile. They know a lot about me. I know where my cameras, Echo's, connected devices are.

I was listening to a nice podcast about OSINT and privacy. Even if you're offline and a hermit, someone else might have one thing that connects you to them. It's a fascinating topic.

If you were truly concerned about full privacy, you wouldn't be posting here or be online at all. You are giving up some of your privacy just being here. Some people just give up a bit more to gain a bit more of something else.

Also - when I say "you" I don't mean you in particular. Just a general "you" if it applies. :)

Hey now, look what happened in Germany when Hitler took power, or in Russia when Stalin took power, or in China when Mao took power... it could happen! :p

For me, the need for privacy isn't because the government is out to specifically get "me" or "my kind," but that major crimes do not go unsolved anymore and the wide breadth of personal information that is made available to enforcement agencies makes it easier to find a convenient solution in a person that should not otherwise be there. What I do rely on is people being lazy and pointing the finger at someone who kinda fits the bill and that a jury will always convict a person on circumstantial evidence in the name perceived public safety. The combination of those two elements is the basis behind so many false imprisonment cases that groups like the Innocence Project fight against.

That's the fear I have with everything being made public: I bought something in particular a month ago, accepted a friend request years ago from person I knew and happened to be a couple of blocks away from the scene last week; add it all up and I'm now a criminal on my way to jail.
