Need advice on replacement samsung cell phone

I am currently on an ancient phone, I am still using my samsung note 5 i got back from verizon in december of 2015. Battery is still kinda working, but i know it doesnt have too much life left in it. I am looking to finally replace this phone with likely a new samsung one, just wondering if anyone has any recommendations or ones to avoid. Not afraid to spend money as i keep my phone a long time and get my moneys worth out of it.

I was looking at current samsung phones and there are so many versions now it made my head spin. Back when I got my current phone it was a lot easier to choose, as there were only a couple versions. Obviously I dont want to end up picking up one that has issues or problems, as Id like it to last me a long time.

Yeah there's always too many different versions of crap, now. You have the S22+, S22 FoodStamps edition, S22 Ti, S22 Titan, S22 CEO edition...

But seriously there might be other differences, but for what mattered to me, the differences to keep an eye on with similarly-named devices with the same SoC were:

* battery size
* number of camera modules
* 35mm equivalent focal lengths of said modules
* video recording FPS, and which modules supported desired frame-rates(this one's tricky because sometimes you don't find this out until you get it)

I recently got a new phone also. I had been milking my Samsung S8+ for over 5 years. I ended up getting a used Note 20 Ultra. That was the last Note model that Samsung made (produced until late 2021), and they have now migrated the Note-specific features such as the S-Pen into the S22 Ultra. I had been thinking of going with the S22 Ultra, but...

The S22 Ultra actually has a smaller screen (6.8") than the Note 20 Ultra (6.9")
The S22 Ultra has no SD card slot! And Samsung seized upon the opportunity to create new price tiers based on the amount of internal storage the phone has since you are completely at their mercy now without an SD Card slot. The Note 20 Ultra still has an SD card slot!
The S22 Ultra is stupid expensive and it hurts knowing that that value drops so much after the first year. The Note 20 Ultra was expensive also but much cheaper now since it's an "old" model.
The S22 Ultra only has 8GB Ram. The Note 20 Ultra has 12GB Ram.
The S22 Ultra has a faster CPU and slightly better camera than the one in the Note 20 Ultra but I have still been super impressed with the camera on the Note 20 Ultra. It is able to take so many different kinds of photos that my S8+ never could. The slightly slower CPU has not impacted my usage in any way.
Both phones on the current version of Android with more updates left.

I just wanted to throw that out there since I am super happy after having gone this route. I feel like I got a phone that is actually better than the S22 Ultra in many ways and I paid less than half the price.

I retired my S8+ because of terrible burn in. Never again will I buy an oled phone or TV in the future. The burn in was so obnoxious because it was the only reason I was forced to replace it. So I got a Motorola One 5G Ace and I gotta say It is one hell of a badass phone. I love it in comparison to the S8+. The screen is much bigger it has a 3.5mm Jack unlike most of the new Samsungs it has a massive battery that lasts forever it is not an oled so it will never burn in it has a 50 megapixel camera IIRC and best of all the Moto gestures are priceless the flashlight shake or camera gesture etc are the most convenient tricks a phone can have. I haven't had any issues with this brand new MOTO phone it has 6GB of ram a fast current 8 core CPU and the cherry on top was It was 200 bucks brand new actually the king of bang for my buck I will never blow a large amount of money on a Samsung phone again because it is simply not worth it after experiencing how awesome this MOTO One 5G Ace is for a fraction of the price. Call quality is perfect everything works perfectly I highly recommend looking into the Moto lineup of phones if you wanna save a thousand dollars lol I still love Samsung TVs but never again a Samsung oled phone.

S22 Ultra has no SD card slot!

I love SD cards for the extra storage, sure, AND the ability to start transferring off large files(videos, slow-mo, ect..) while my phone is already recording something else. Sad when it's a missing feature on a premium product.

Yea the Moto 5g one ace has the SD card also. The only thing it doesn't have is a removable battery I think but that won't stop me from opening it up although I'm not sure they even sell spare batteries but honestly at 2 bills I wouldn't even care cause It's not worth it just buy a brand new phone for a couple bills at that point where are with the outrageous prices on the Samsung yea prying it open to replace the battery would be a worry at 1200 or 800 sure but for 2 bills expendable so no worries lol you can buy 5 new phones over the course of years and years for the price of one Sammy I used to be all Samsung but not anymore I don't think I'll ever buy another Samsung phone ever again very poor value for money.

Yeah I did some looking on the samsung site and they do offer the note 20 ultra in a certified renewed unlocked phone. This one is def on my watch list as it has pretty much everything I want, thanks a lot of the advice.

I'll buy a used flagship for $200, but probably not a phone that arrived at that price. The moto has some admirable qualities, but its $200-ness shows. USB 2.0, 4GB/6GB ram, and a 750G chipset. ya bang for your buck is great usb doesn't matter at all because I unload the chip and slot it into my breakout box for fast transfers from the micro sd card direct inject into the pc from the dslr or phone my 5g one ace has 6gb of ram i don't game on it that's what the 3080ti ftw3 ultra hydrocopper is for lol also the 750g chipset punches above its weight it's a solid cpu i honestly don't see the need for anything faster it's snappy as heck everything is instant.

Ya the prices are lower on the older model note 20 ultras def tempting but I'm a truck driver so I use gps navigation apps a lot the first thing that will happen to the screen is burn from constant use in bright outdoor environments something to keep in mind if you use your phone outdoors a lot plenty of reviews online with people disappointed about how fast the notes burn the screen especially considering their hefty price tags a few months to a year is very common unfortunately otherwise the phones have fantastic feature sets albeit still expensive being flagship level.

Hey does the sd have it's own slot? On my V40, if I take the SD out, the SIM comes along with it. They weren't planning on people popping it in and out on the reg. And USB 2.0 is what this bastard is sporting, so...

yea the sim and sd card are on teh same tray but with 128gbs offloading is few and far between unlike the dslr where popping it out is ezpz after a photoshoot.

Well I ended up yoloing and ordering this phone from samsung today. I was going to wait and get it later, but after thinking about how old my current phone is and the possibility of it dying out of the blue...I decided just to bite the bullet and get it. Want to say thanks for recomending me this phone, it has everything I wanted in my phone, and I got it for a reasonable price compared to buying a new 22 series phone. Now I just have the fun part of getting used to a new android version as I have been on 7 for a very long time on my current phone.
