Is this a good or perhaps warm deal for office lifetime license?

Installed on one PC. Not sure if the license is portable to another PC or locked to that PC for life. If it's locked, not a good deal.

Important Details

  • ONE-TIME PURCHASE FOR 1 PC
  • Redemption deadline: redeem your code within 30 days of purchase
  • Access options: desktop
  • No subscriptions – no monthly/annual fees
  • Version: 2021
  • All languages supported
  • Updates included
  • Have questions on how digital purchases work? Learn more here

Seems like stacksocial site is legit from what I can search.

Hi ********,

Thanks for your interest in our deals!

Once you have successfully redeemed the product key on your Microsoft account.
Then yes, you can transfer the app to another device.

Please use this link for future reference:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...-license/991ac3db-b57a-4ba7-8ace-5dee97e774ea

Hopefully, that gets you squared away, but if you need anything else, just let me know. I'm happy to help!

Thanks, I picked up a Mac copy for my mom who just so happened to express a need for Excel the other day.

I've been buying my copies of office for a couple years now from vip-scdkey. I just buy 2016 and it's usually well under 40 bucks.

Nice, I'll prolly pick one up for my main PC at least. Which component of the PC is it tied to though if I upgrade it? Or is it just tied to the OS installation/SSD it's installed on basically? Just curious if I upgrade the mobo/CPU and all that if the license will transfer over with the OS.

According to the above answer, linked to your microsoft account (like a 365):
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...-license/991ac3db-b57a-4ba7-8ace-5dee97e774ea

When you install and activate Office 2021, that licence becomes associated to your Microsoft Account online, whenever you need to re-install Office on that or another PC, you can log into your Microsoft Account and install Office 2021 from there, without the need for a product key.

Do you see your Office 2021 licence listed on your account on this link?

If true good to know for people that do not want an online account or to watch out to use your work or personnal account if that relevant.

I think that is exactly what they were asking, it was verified with MS.
Activated =/= verified legit. Shady keys like this one appears to be ($50 you're dreaming if you think it's legit) typically get clipped/blacklisted eventually, so when you need to reinstall the key won't activate. All sorts of scams and exploits used by greymarket sellers to produce too good to be true key pricing.

Basically, assume these keys are going to be one-time-use or short term use until clipped. If you ever need to reinstall 3, 6, 12+ months in the future and it still activates, it'll be a bonus but you can't count on it. Enjoy!

I have bought at least dozen win 10 pro keys on ebay over the years and they all still work, so I dunno.. I have never had an issue.

Not my experience either using grey market keys. Also when you do the math you're still making out like a bandit getting these grey market keys and maybe needing to buy more grey market keys 3 years later vs the insane rip off of MSRP or Office 365 (which is total shit). Even if the key doesn't activate turning on the ole' charm with the lads and ladies in India on the phone gets it done.

I can see your active =/= legitimate to a point. But what do you want users to do? We cannot assume all keys are invalid. A business presenting itself as legitimate sells us an office key for example. I have bought two office keys from scdkey and I have to go to setup.office.com to activate and then microsoft sends me the installer.

How much more validation should an end user have to do? I mean, if the software installer comes from Microsoft why as an end user should I think any less of that key?

If I go to a store to buy a netflix gift card. Use that gift card to establish my account, and my account works. Do I need to do a financial forensic investigation to ensure that card wasn't stolen in the first place, or should I just enjoy the service I paid for?

If a given key is found to be illegitimate and Microsoft pulls the key (as it should), I'll go back to my credit card or Paypal and get my money back and buy another one. This isn't a complicated matter. But if I can get a valid key, that maybe comes from India where they are sold for cheaper and it works, honestly, I'm not giving it a second thought and moving on with my life.

Trying to find out if this was legit I came across this complaint. Other complaints I saw about them (for different deals) said that they sell 100% non-refundable keys even in cases where the product normally is advertised as having an X day trial period; and that they sell your information and sign you up for lots of email marketing with no way to opt out. The latter if true has been illegal in the US since 2003's CAN SPAM act, in addition to newer laws like GDPR or California's quasi-copy of it.

I've been hearing and reading this for a decade or more. I am all about paying for software and supporting developers. I have never seen or had anything deactivated that I have purchased for "less than retail" price which is when I generally see all this talk about black market keys. Not a single issue. Hundreds of keys over the years on multiple products. I am sure there are exceptions. Maybe I am just an exception.

I literally just came across this article from thestreet saying that MS is offering Office forever with no annual fee: https://www.thestreet.com/personal-finance/microsoft-major-deal-office. It'll send you to buy it from here: https://shop.popsci.com/sales/micro...2108&utm_content=a0x1P000004VDzoQAG&scsonar=1
That link and the original OP stacksocial link looks like the exact same webpage/layout except for the company's logo etc. The keys are probably coming from the same source.

So when you buy this, do you immediately get emailed a key? How does this work? Can you transfer it to a different computer later? Is XLOOKUP in Excel 2021?

Key is given from the website (stacksocial is where I got mine), and redeemed on Microsoft's webpage. It looks like I can install it on multiple PCs, but I've not been able to test that yet.

Edit - yes, looks like Xlookup is there in 2021: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...windows-f953fe71-8f85-4423-bef9-8a195c7a1100#

Could you possibly check that out? I'm not trying to have it installed on a bunch of PC's but if I need to move it from one to another I would like to be able to. Also, does anybody know if you have to have a MS account to install this?

I used to work in the education sector and they hand out $20 full licenses for Office to folks with a .edu left and right. You might think that's just college students, but there are absolutely tons and tons of employees at affiliate companies that qualify. Each person can buy up to 3 licenses, too. I bought 'em for my family. Microsoft couldn't care less because $20 is still better than the $0 most people are willing to pay. I wouldn't be concerned about keys like this for the same reason. Hell, it's probably where some of these are coming from. Education licenses and bulk licenses for companies with like 10,000 employees.

Why is there a emphasis on the license being "lifetime"? Isn't a retail license always "Lifetime"? Or is this saying that you would be eligible for updates in the future? LIke when Office 2026 comes out, you would get that too? Or it just saying that this copy of Office 2021 will always work (which is normal retail license).

It's probably to differentiate from Office 365, which is only good for a year. Not sure if it's still like this, but with the last version of Office, the programs for 365 and normal 'ol Office 2019 were the same. The license key you input made the difference.

In a couple days I can check it out when I get access to another PC. I did need to log in on my M$ account to redeem the key and download the installer.

It's for one computer, but it looked like I could change the computer that it was activated on (I kept it on the original computer).

I don't know how legit this is, but I was told that some of the "legit" keys for cheap are indeed legit, however they were purchased with stolen credit cards so they still can be blacklisted. There are so many different keys too. The most desired are the so called MAK (Multiple Activation Key) that can allow up to 50 activations before it will no longer auto activate. Sigh.

This ultimately was the demise of technet. So many jack offs reselling those keys in the usual channels. Can't have anything nice any more from those tools...
