Something you never want to hear, "Funny bumping into to you on Tinder, I only had to access your locked down Facebook page to find you." The Wrap is reporting on a series of Tweets by a woman that thinks she is being cyberstalked by a self-proclaimed Facebook security analyst. That said, I have never used Tinder, but I would guess if your personal safety were paramount, you would not use it?

Facebook is investigating whether or not an employee used internal tools to stalk women online, the social network confirmed to TheWrap on Monday.

"I’ve been made aware that a security engineer currently employed at Facebook is likely using privileged access to stalk women online," tweeted Stokes. "I have Tinder logs. What should I do with this information?"

Honest, legit question. Why.. what is the point, help me grasp the sociological marvels i'm currently deprived of pretty please because i just can't.

A lot of people are just social animals, they either like to voice their opinions or like to see what's going on with others and FB connects a lot of people. My wife and much of her family use it quite a bit, me not so much.

The only thing I use it is for scheduling game nights with friends. That and to stalk people because I am super creepy like that :watching::cautious:;).

O.K., so basically, MMS, SMS, e-mailing, land line calling, cell phone calling, walking, commuting and driving just.. weren't enough? To either organise an event between friends or contact other people, to quote the first reply?
It's why i said i don't get it, i know how people use it, what for; it's the why i just cannot fathom :)

Most of my family lives overseas. It's an easy way to keep in contact with all of them. Also I've gotten pretty close to a few podcasters I like thanks to their FB group.

So tell me why the hate?

FB is a powerful communications platform but it also uses a lot of personal data and that's the big issue for many.

You think Google is "free"? Instagram which is owned by FB. Twitter?

FB just the first to get caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

No hate, i cannot be more explicit than i've already been, having stated multiple times that i just cannot grasp it, so help/opinions welcome.

Now you will not like reading this, but i'm doing you a favor.
It's a very common cultural element for Americans, to take the slightest differentiation in opinion, let alone anything stronger, as a personal insult; and as such, a cause for grave offense. I know why, but i also know that beyond an extent, nothing is excusable as it is within our nature to evolve and overcome. Rather than remain stagnant.
If you're not American and you've managed to fall prey to this regardless, my sincere condolences. Less Holywood, more real life.

People have varying opinions, to varying degrees of intensity. People come to forums so as to express themselves. Try hard and link the dots. If you lack what it takes to deal with the connotations, forums are not for you.

As to Facebook however, or its users when it really comes down to it? Again, no, repeat, no hate. Their lives, their rights, their call. All i did was enquire. Not -i-nquire, enquire.

heatlesssun point taken :)

I tell my wife to stop using it so much but she uses it to pretty much keep up with friends and family. She doesn't post much on there. She "stalks" people all the time, to get info on someone she met or current events.
I used to be on there a lot more but I pretty much never get on now since right before the election, just can't stand the political war and the bogus stories and click bait articles on there.
I think the younger generation look at it as a fun thing to do and to justify how popular they are with their friends.

Why? That's like the easiest way to turn someone off.

If you match, you're in the door. If you're not a tool, you're probably getting a date. If your time is right, you're likely getting laid.

I tell my wife to stop using it so much

Tinder or Facebook? :)

My family lives all over the world.
It's nice having contact with them, seeing how they live their lives (those who actually share) etc.
Without Facebook I would have no contact with them.
I am not old-school. I do not send sms anymore or talk on the phone.
