Guys, what do you think about this? I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever seen something like this, whilst running any windows update. TBH I'm thinking bout doing a rollback to win 7. I feel like there's not enough privacy control on windows 10.

Coffeelake + Win 7 =Dunnoooo LoL

It really sucks but 7 is eventually going to be severely limiting.

Microsoft has us bent over on this one.

I bit the bullet when upgrading from 7 and got LTSB 10 from the guy in the For Sale section.

Not seeing the big deal, I did a few re-loads of Windows 10 last week with Office 2007 on them and one of the Windows Updates for the Office gave me the same message as above. Not seeing what the big deal is.

And "kud0$" on the thread title OP.

You'll need to add the USB drivers to your Windows 7 install media like you would with Skylake or AMD Ryzen boards, but otherwise it should work.

Windows 7 is on it's last legs and you'll still need to avoid certain updates to avoid the telemetry issues in 7. If that's your main concern give desktop Linux a shot and see if it works for you.

Yes, it's in Russian, yes, you should use Google Translate to do the linguistic magical conversion on it, yes, it works fine, been using it for years myself without a single issue, and yes, it's stripped of telemetry/BS so it's about as safe as it can get while keeping Windows 7 relevant especially on newer hardware. Offers USB 3.0 driver support and also can inject NVMe drive support as well. Never had one single issue using these update packs and I just created a new one last week with the latest update (12-15-2018).

Use it, don't use it, the choice is yours.

I like how the most non-telemetry, non-privacy, non-caring post about Windows 10 *immediately* derails into a privacy and telemetry thread.

The OP specifically said that he's considering rolling back to 7 because of privacy issues...

With Windows 10 being a rolling release, even I have to admit that their could be a tiny fraction of a fraction of mere fraction of usefulness from telemetry given that it could provide a mere amount of useful info in terms of what's going on and why Windows 10 is shit and breaks so often for so many people.

But for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 that kind of information is utterly useless in this day and age and the only updates being provided are for security, there is no more active development with Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 in terms of adding functionality, altering existing features, or increasing usefulness in any way, shape, or form. Hence, telemetry is nothing more than a privacy issue for those older OSes and for Windows 10 to some high degrees whether people wish to look at the situation from that perspective or not.

So yeah, it matters. ;)

Because of text which has absolutely nothing at all to do with privacy.

However the OP stated otherwise? DeathFromBelow was merely following the OP's line of reasoning, I see nothing wrong with his postings at all. People seriously need to just relax.

Remember when people only complained that Windows was not secure because people wouldn't keep Windows up to date? This is the result of that.

I just had my WIndows virtual reboot itself for a windows update in the middle of my active hours. Luckily I was using a software that doesn't lose data by an unwarned reboot like that lol.

Then please don't threadcrap.

It's called a reply. The OP is complaining of the Windows updating process, I'm discussing the Windows updating process in line with the OP.

Technically speaking, as respectful as I can possibly be, your post above is threadcrapping. I tell the individual in question that I am not interested in his posts in an attempt to keep the thread on topic.

Understand the fact that I'm not interested in discussing anything with yourself, not anything. This post, this very post is threadcrapping.
You injected Linux as usual for no reason. That is thread crapping, not calling you out ;).

So used to you doing so lol. You crapped on windows for an unrelated reason to the op though.

I have not mentioned Linux in this thread at all, the text is all there. I am not at all interested in continuing this discussion with yourself. Period.
