They broke Dirt Road (rally cross) and Dirt Oval into separate licenses about a year ago. I'm still D class in rally but wanted to get my C in dirt oval because the Chilli Bowl comes to iRacing next month and they're going to do a special event for it and now I can take part.
The Fanatec CSL McLaren rim has analog paddles that can be mapped 4 different ways, including as a gas and brake. I have one, I use the paddles as either analog look left/right so I can partial "peek" over, or in the bite point mode for standing start hacks. I doubt you'd be a champion road racer with it but I bet you could run Indy again and be competitive. Worth a look, would require a Fanatec base but the CSL can be had cheap and its 95% the CSW I hear.

Frustrating night tonight. Running the Nationals on Pocono, having a bitch of a time finding the speed in T1, and on that track 1 mistake = an eternity. Tried running Skippys at Donnington... I officially suck on Donnington.
Was in practice feeling good, smooth, get into quali to see I'm 10 seconds off the pace. Turn 4, 7, and the chicane I'm just too timid with and it costs me so much time. 4 especially, too timid and you lose a TON of time, so it must be taken fast... but it seems if I get it even a little bit wrong I'm off exploring the greener parts of the track.
Had a decent run in the trucks... but they aren't official so it isn't helping me with my next license heh.
Wait, Dirt is a separate license?
It's not just oval and road these days?
I have not even logged into iRacing in like..... 3 years. OMG.
It's not that I don't like it. I LOVE it. I was one of the original alpha testers. It's just my health hasn't afforded me the ability to use the damn pedals effectively.
Still looking for a good hand-control wheel kit.
Yeah, every track has atleast 1 big jump along with a good mix of dirt corners and asphalt. They're all built inside existing tracks which is nice because you don't have to buy anything else. It's a lot of fun. They also have off road stadium trucks coming.
I have a T500. I’ll have to see is they work.
Decided to bump this since iracing is seeing a surge of popularity these days. Any new players out there? I signed up a few weeks ago and am currently at a Road C license but I really need to practice and get my pace up. Since I missed out on 8 weeks of season participation by a week or two I am mainly just planning to get my feet wet in IMSA Pilot and Sportscar. If I get to B license I might try VRS Sprint so I can avoid some of the multi-class annoyances.
I resubbed for a month recently but I can't really do much right now because I don't have money for the cars/tracks I don't own yet. So I'm stuck in rookie races, and those get old fast. :/
I still do a few laps from time to time but I haven’t raced in a while, one day I hope to get back to doing regular races every week.
