Intel Kaby Lake i7-7700K CPU De-Lid & Re-Lid Results @ [H]

I've had good and bad experiences with Delids. A few Haswells went well, then had a haswell that after delid wouldn't recognize ram if 2 sticks were installed. It was delidded with the rocket tool, and no visible damage. So use caution.

Did you glue the IHS back on?

Smells of socket damage.

I did glue the IHS back on, used four tiny dots of black silicon RTV then used the delid tool. I dunno if it has anything to do with it, but it was the only S chip I delidded, a 4670S. Still working to this day, just have to use single channel ram.

Just finished this process on my 7700k. I'd previously relidded my old 7600k twice, the second time was to use a thinner layer of Liquid Ultra and put a little more stank on the relid bolt. The second relid was a good 5/6°c lower under load than the first. So, hopefully the 7700k likes it just as well.

Still gotta reassemble my hard piped loop to see what the temps are like. My 7600k would hold 5GHz @1.34v, here's hoping the silicon deities forgive my buying an i5 when I should have bought an i7 to begin with and blessed me with a 5.2GHz @1.27v chip. XD
