Insane Bandwidth



notice the distance and ping times... im supposed to have 6mb down 390k up (wtf.. 390k... comeon.. i need at least 2mb up to be any where near competitive in games these days.. )

Looks normal for a server that far away. Try gaming on closer servers.

thats def not my network. I run blue cables for 100mbps and white is only reserved for 1gbps which is only on 2 of my boxes.

I'm 17 and know what a .tar file is, though I'm still working on the mounting part :p

Kinda sad when someone thats been through what 2-4 years of college doesn't know what a .tar is and someone not even out of highschool does :rolleyes:

EDIT: You are talking about .tar files right? I just realized tar can stand for more than one thing.

You need at 20/2mbit linje in order to utilize 20mbit download under TCP, that 512kbit is only good for up to 5Mbit, here is how we advice our customers(red is MINIMUM!):
5/0.5Mbit
10/1Mbit
15/1.5Mbit
20/2Mbit
 
I lived in holland for 2 yrs, i downloaded at around 4 to 5 Megabyte/sec but had a cap at 80 gigs a month (I lived near school campus)

now im in the caribbean on a 2mbit ( 256kbyte/sec) adsl connection ...

I read in the newspaper that sooner or later there is supposed to be 40 mbit/sec( 5120 kbyte/sec) available at an affortable price...

lets hope...

VDSL2+ is comming(at least to Denmark), I have seen the enduser equipment ;)
 
Wish I had my schools upload, Always nice getting all the bandwidth by using firefox

*shrugs* the pipeline to the server I'm posting from caps at 300mpbs up and down.

We typically peak at about 120mpbs outbound on weekdays, which is about 1/3 of our total traffic - the rest is out of the Akamai CDN.
 
Here is the most recent speedtest I did from one of our servers. Rate Shaping is all wonkey on the router in front of it which is why the upload isn't closer to the download.

What would cause a speedtest to give inaccurate results? I'm getting ridiculously high speeds.
 
I've run a billion tests and they're all fluctuating. Not sure why speedtest sucks, as you haven't given sound reasoning. I've also used about all the tests at dslreports.com

Look at post #61.

Speedtest.net even reported a 10/10Mbit as a 6/7Mbit...the site is a joke...perhaps if you use dial-up, it can do something for you...but DSL, DSL2+, SHDSL, VDSL2+...don't even borther.
