Inexpensitve but Quality Intel CPU?

I'm building a computer right now, I'm not sure what MB I'll get just yet but overall, my budget for MB and CPU is $200 combined. Any suggestions? I'll be using the computer mostly for SC2 and D3 when they come out as well as viewing Blu-ray movies and Excel/Surfing stuff.

Obviously, the cheaper the better, but I want something quality that will be good. I don't really know how to OC either, so "OC'ability" isn't much value to me.
 
E6300 + GA-G31M-ES2L. So, that would leave you 65 bucks in the clear, that's a 4GB kit of RAM or 65 extra to spend on a video card, or get a nice HSF for it and learn to OC.
 
I just got an E5200 and a crappy (for overclocking) Asus MB. I've got it overclocked to 3.5Ghz 100% stable without really trying. 3.6Ghz works but was giving me errors when using the Intel test program.

Pretty sweet for only $70.00

On ebay you should be able to get a mobo and a Q6600 for less than $200 combined.
 
 
I have an E6400 which does 2.8, 4GB DDR2, and a 965P/DS3 if you are interested.
 
I'm guessing that an E6300 will blow a Pentium 4 at 3Ghz out of the water right? I always think of going high end but going low end and cheaper seems to be making more sense right now.
 
Almost every AMD and Intel CPU that is currently in production will blow away a P4 3.0 GHz. In single core applications that is equivalent to a less than 1.6 GHz core 2.
 
Strange name for that particular part seeing as they already had an E6300, but oh well. Looks like the difference between the E6300 and the E5200/5300 is just the FSB speed. Am I missing something else?

Go with this. I have the GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2L LGA 775 w/E5200 in my daughter's comp and the FSB is REALLY FINICKY. Had a hell of a time getting multi/fsb combo's to work with Corsair XMS DDR2-800. Had to settle on 12.5 x 240mhz (3 Ghz). I know its not the memory cause I had this chip and memory running 10 x 400mhz stable in my mobo. So yeah, I definitely CANNOT recommend this mobo. (Yes I have the newest bios for it also.)

This is a pentium e6300 vs a c2d e6300.
