“IBM has teased a Q3 2023 release for a major upgrade to its z/OS mainframe operating environment.

"IBM intends for z/OS Version 3 to be the basis for an AI-infused, hybrid cloud operating system, and z/OS 3.1 will be the first release in that journey" states a preview announcement published on February 28.

The release will see AI workloads "infused into the operating system using intelligent automation and accelerated inferencing at scale to extract and leverage valuable data insights" – a sentence that contains a greater density of buzzwords than was previously thought possible.”

IBM has always been about increasing density.
Seriously though, as somebody who uses their existing system, I am very interested in this, the "Data Lake" we have with them has made my life slightly easier.
Without going into too many details over the course of 3 months I will upload like 40Gb of data into it and it gives me a very detailed breakdown of resource usage and time expenditures based on department, location, hardware, blah blah blah. It makes generating my 5-year plans not only far easier, but their accuracy has been bang on.
Between them and Fujitsu, it makes hours out of reports that used to take months.
