2 hours of grinding isn't that bad tho? As much as I loved the Arkham games (i'm still playing arkham origins) the grind to unlock all of their abilities takes tons of hours? or am i missing something?
So for Gotham Knights simple things like counter attacks and the ability to fast travel are not available until you unlock them by completing about 2 hours of repetitive tasks. This is the same for all 4 characters. Once you have the abilities then you can grind some more to upgrade them.

In Arkham basic combo and counter button is available but everything else was a an unlock by earning points by accomplishments.
I'm just wondering how It's so different from Arkham?

Yes, I just played as Batgirl. No switching in my playthrough. The issue is that once you switch to another character you have to grind for about 2 hours to unlock all their abilities before you start having real fun with them. I wasn't in the mood to do that.

Pretty sure all characters level up at the same time and you don’t need to grind with every character to unlock things. You will have the same skill points on each character.

you need to grind 10 open world missions for every single playable character to unlock their Knighthood...terrible design decision

And to make it worst you have to beat tons of miscellaneous mobs to get the clues you need to unlock said missions so it takes about 2 hours per Knighthood. It's super annoying.

What about the skill tree? Everything fun required the level up points to unlock them.
Sure, you can always grind to unlock everything. That is always an option. Grinding is not needed to beat the game, though. There are enough encounters in the game just doing the story missions to give you enough XP to unlock everything you need and then some.

Well….That’s dumb. I could understand maybe doing one or two but 10 is incredibly excessive. Really does make the game seem even more like a title that was hastily pulled back from being a “live service”.

Yea but wouldn't it be much, much harder to beat Arkham without the skill tree upgrades? I found myself needing to unlock certain upgrades to be able to defeat or infiltrate certain enemies/sections of the game which would be borderline impossible without certain abilities/gadgets?

The consensus I'm gathering here and abroad seems to be a bit of a letdown but decent game. $25 Steam sale fodder? Is that what we are talking about here?

It's pretty garbage, i'll be honest. I bought it for $40 from GMG with a coupon, and I regret buying it. Honestly, I don't think it's worth any money. There is a wealth of other open-world style games that are better. You can pickup Valhalla complete for only $41 from GMG. That's like 300 hours bare minimum of quality open world gaming. Or just play through the AK games again. They are all better than this game.

The problem with this game is even the very basic stuff doesn't feel right. Movement feels janky and shit compared to the prior AK games. Riding around on the motorcycle feels like you're riding in a kids toy compared to the awesome destruction and movement of the batmobile in AK. The graphics feel like a game from 4-6 years ago (An average one, since AK looks miles better than this), but it runs worse than Cyberpunk 2077. The combat is nowhere near as rewarding or smooth as the prior games. I could just rattle off stuff, but honestly, this game sucks. It's not worth your time given the huge number of other open-world titles that are just better.

I like it the draw distance clarity is not as muddy as previous games. The streets do seem empty but it's a video game and sometimes they have cut scenes before you pounce on them.

I think if the game had local co-op or cross platform multiplayer I’d be down for this game at $30-$35. Without that however, not really super interested in it as a single player experience.

As a side rant: What the fuck happened to the big cross platform push we had a few years ago? Why have developers stopped pushing for that? I get local co-op in same cases due to the strain on consoles but there is no damn reason for games not to have cross platform co-op.

Crossplatform costs money since they would have to host their own server that does those communications between all the different platforms, so most don't do it.

price seems to be dropping fast so I'll pick it up sometime down the line at the right price (under $20)...I wouldn't be surprised to see a big discount during the upcoming Black Friday sales

Man why are these games bombing so hard is it because of there greedy fake grinding you have to do in these games?? It's just not as fun as grinding on older games.....

There was a hard push at the start, but console players started bitching about it. Every time a new game comes out you'll see several threads bitching about it pop up everywhere, even in PvE games.

I actually think cross platform co-op makes more sense than PvP. Less competitive more about playing with friends.

40% discount after 1 month is unheard of on Steam (for a big AAA release)...the game must be doing terrible in terms of sales

Well the game appears to run terribly so I can see why. I thought the game looked fine until I saw the grindiness. Maybe they'll tweak that.

Against my better judgment I got this for 50% off. I actually did finish the Marvel crap game so if this is even close to it I should be fine.

As did I. I almost forgot about that game. It was so bland, but playable. Just so very bland and sterile.

Raytracing is a complete no-go. Doesn't matter if you have the supercomputer running the simulation that is our reality.

Even then, it still runs like shit.

This game really could have and should have been more. This is a missed opportunity. That's far and away my takeaway taking all of it in. (This thread and beyond.)

It helps a little but once you start moving across the map the game will continue to stutter when it loads the new areas.
The game has the typical UE4 shader comp hitching, but with raytracing enabled it will hitch constantly no matter what you do. Not sure why they bothered to put it in the game given how bad it makes the game run. It's not like it's just a hit to FPS - You can't even brute force your way through it since the entire game freezes constantly.

So buy a 4090 and play games with RT off. That sucks. FPS are locked at 60 throughout. Card is sleeping and so is CPU so what is causing the hitching.

No, most games have raytracing that works just fine. This game is just poorly coded, and the raytracing doesn't even add that much compared to something like DL2 or 2077.

Downloaded a 7.2 GB update and now FPS are about 160 with RTX on. Game does not hitch. Running fine for me but I am still at the beginning. Just came back from the morgue. Story is intriguing.

OK so I downloaded the patch and as KickAssCop mentioned the game runs much better with or without raytracing enabled. My question now is why was this game released on October 21th? If they would have just pushed the release date out 1 month they would have avoided all the negative press related to the poor performance and the game wouldn't be selling at a 50% discount.
