Bruhh have patience, the PG32UQX is almost here with its slower than a school bus pixel speed and super affordable price, grab two!!!
For $1000 the CX48 would be a no brainer but it's $1350 at Costco. I am still a bit hesitant, although it's got to be better than the 48" 2015 curved Samsung I'm using. The PQ is not great.

The price on the 48" isn't going to drop much due to the realities of cutting the OLED panels. The 55" is going for the same price or even cheaper, but that is a bit too big for desktop use. Still, $1350 is a no-brainer to me since every other display in this price category can't beat it.
What is hilarious is that even the LG OLED panels in the LG and Sony TVs are WBGR, not RGBW as is often said.

It's a 10-bit panel, so the colors are going to be clipping with 12-bit.
Mine should be here tomorrow but may not get it setup till the weekend. Since I've been using the CG437K for over a year with no problem (I don't live in a dark cave), The FV43V should be better since it has a 10 bit panel vs my 8bit and it can do 144 over a single DP (while mine is limited to 120). The only thing it does not have is the Ambient backlight LED strips but I've already ordered and received a set of this from Amazon. I also use them on everyone of my TV and they really reduce eye strain in the evening. I'm also going to be torn between playing Mass Effect LE on the FV43V and my desktop 3080 or on my Samsung Q90T TV with my Aorus 15G (3070 mobile).

Looking good so far. Only major issue I've encountered is that the monitor does not pick up signal after restarting PC or save & close from BIOS screen.

Does it come with a DP cable or did you use your own or are you running over HDMI? Do you have another cable to try?
I think it comes with a DP cable, but I don't use that. I am using the same HDMI 2.1 cable that worked flawlessly with my 48CX.

Product page shows it comes with both a DisplayPort and HDMI cable.
You'll want to check the OSD for a "deep sleep" option for the HDMI inputs and disable it if it's there. It's one of those annoying power saving features for standby mode.

Recieved mine yesterday. Unplugged my old wasabi mango 55 and plugged this in with display port. It fired up at 144hz out of the box. Compared to the mango colors seem more vibrant, less muted. The monitor is nice and bright, but not overly. I expected to be blinded, but it is just pleasant. There is little to no glare. I have a window behind me that was noticable on the mango but not here. I cannot see any dark patches from side to side, it is very evenly lit(dont know technical terms) feels high end. Coming down from a 55 inch, this just feels right to me. I thought it would seem tiny but it still feels huge, however my eyes cover the screen now without bringing my neck into play. Older games, or less advanced games scale better than on the mango. I dont know how this is achieved, I am guessing a more advanced processor. To my eyes this display is sharp, accurate, and just beautiful and a bargain at $999. I am not tech savvy when it comes to panels, so this is a Layman's opinion, but it is the best looking panel I have ever owned.
Site's up now. Maybe not as good on some test as the CG437K or the PG43UQ but difference is so little it doesn't really matter.
I would take Tom's pixel response measurements with a grain of salt. The PG43UQ and CG437K are literally unusable to me due to how slow they are where as this is pretty decent.
Really surprising they got 6000:1 contrast measurement out of this panel because blacks did not look anywhere near that deep and more like the 4000:1 spec on Gigabytes sheet.

He says "no linux support"... what does this mean exactly? If I plug it in under linux, it won't recognize the monitor? Or some of the features don't work under Linux?

The tom's review indicates that movie content is displayed at 60hz instead of 24... how jarring is this in reality? Is it something to be concerned with if you use your monitor for watching movies?

I am very tempted to get this. I'm not sure whether to get this or wait for the LG 42 OLED. I'm still very concerned about burn in if I buy the CX48 because I use it as an every day display. I really need to decide soon because the Newegg coupon and the Costco sale on the CX will disappear very soon.
43" straight VESA desk mounts are not that expensive and the inputs on this display would make it easy to mount upside down.
Would it be better to use HDMI 2.1 or Displayport on this display? Doesn't DP 1.4 use DSC which is compressed? I only have a 2080Ti so the best I could get is 60Hz VRR over HDMI 2.1 anyways.
Also, does the monitor work with both Gsync and HDR at the same time?

It's 120hz over hdmi 2.1 and 144 over DP. Both hdmi and displayport can use DSC, DP was just the first to use it. The application, not the port, decides, if i understand it correctly. DSC is also visually lossless, it is a way to get higher refresh rates.
I get that, but the 2080Ti is limited to 60Hz max w/VRR over HDMI so I'd be using the DP anyways here. The closest I'll get to getting a 3080Ti is through EVGA's Elite program, and I'm sure they're going to have a huge response as soon as they make it available.
Still interested in the other stuff about this display. I might get it over the CX48.

From what I understand, you can get 120Hz 4:2:0 with VRR on the 2080Ti... so basically no HDR. With an adapter you can get 4k 120 Hz HDR but no VRR, or you can get 4k 60Hz HDR natively.
I'm in a similar conundrum. I'm leaning towards the Aorus, as it's several hundred cheaper, no risk of burn in (even though you can mitigate it), and a better overall size.
Well one of these days a 3xxx series card will actually be available. Probably 2022 sometime. In the meantime I'm glad I didn't sell my 2080Ti, I can still play RDR2 4k@60Hz on my 5820k@4.3GHz at mid-range settings. I'll upgrade my whole setup eventually- It's ironic that currently a display is one of the easiest to find and most affordable elements of a PC setup.
Well, don't have much time left- who knows how much longer the Newegg coupon will work, and only 2 more days on the CX48. I just dislike buying something so expensive from Newegg- the risk of dead pixels is pretty high with them. Costco lets you return pretty much anything. I can't really afford the extra $500 tho.

The Newegg code didn't work for me either. I spoke with Newegg chat, and I was told the code is invalid.
I received mines two days ago and so far I'm loving it. I'm coming from a Dell S3220DGF (32" VA, 500nit, 3000:1 contrast, edgelit no LD), and I have a TCL 55R635 (55" VA, FALD 120 zones, 5500:1 contrast).
The only thing I miss is a curved screen. But since the viewing angle on this FV43U appears better than the S3220DGF, I'm OK with it not being curved.
HDR gaming looks great. I'm very happy with the blacks and local dimming. Much better than I was expecting. At full brightness with local dimming off, the blacks are darker on this FV43U than the TCL. If I had to "guess", it has a native contrast of at least 5000:1.
At full HDR brightness, it draws about 157 watts at the wall.
I'll be adding some bias lighting soon. Too bad the back of the monitor is retarded with all these designs/curves.
A couple of things that bugs me:
1. I can't activate GPU scaling on my Vega 56 and R9 Fury. The screen goes black, then "no device detected". To fix, I have to reinstall the AMD GPU drivers using another monitor. I don't think I'll be using GPU scaling, but I wanted to play with it.
2. When watching HDR video on YouTube using Chrome or Edge, the local dimming sometimes doesn't engage and the backlighting stays fixed. I can easily tell with videos like this: I'm using the "HDR1000" setting on the FV43U. LD in HDR games always works so far.

I assume the display works better with Nvidia cards. I'm interested in trying this with a USB-C cable from my 2080Ti, should work fine.
How do you like the display so far?
I'm loving it so far. The only things that would make this "my" perfect monitor is 1800R or 1500R curve, and FALD. I wouldn't spend over $2K just to have FALD though. I'm really happy with the blacks, contrast, and HDR, which were my main reasons for purchasing this monitor. Doesn't seem like there will be anything better at this price point for a very long time.
I was considering the LG CX48 for a long time. Reasons why I didn't go for a CX48:
- 48" too big
- No DisplayPort (because my current GPU doesn't have HDMI2.1)
- ABL, or low full scene brightness
I found a cluster of maybe 3 dead pixels on the top right, or I think it's dead pixels, could be dirty pixels. I've contacted Gigabyte to see if warranty covers this, and how their exchange process works, waiting to hear back. Could someone tell me what this is? See picture below:
I also found fingerprints on the screen, makes me wonder if someone at Newegg opened it. There wasn't any seal, or those plastic bands they have on TV's, just those plastic release tabs at the bottom.
If you ordered from Newegg they'll exchange it. As I said earlier they revised their "dead pixel" return policy.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy one now. Not sure how Asus could still have an MSRP of $2k on their XG43UQ. It's pretty much the exact same display, right down to the panel.

He’s wrong on a number of counts, specifically that it doesn’t have Freesync- it actually has Freesync Pro, HDR and adaptive sync work simultaneously.

Yet nobody has tested and or reported back on how good or bad vrr + bfi is on this stupid display.
As I said, that's why I'm waiting for one of the better, more technically oriented websites to get the display. I think it's a good sign that Gigabyte decided to include a calibration report with it.
G-Sync has flickering issue (or at least when using windowed mode) and the smearing just bothers me. I guess I have to return this monitor and wait for the 42" OLED after all lol. Once you go OLED, you can't go back!

I decided to replace the Vizio M437GO at the office instead of using this at home and I've been busy at the office till late today. Finally got it setup only to find all the input ports are on the far side from my PC so have to run HDMI @60hz for now till a longer DP cable comes in tomorrow. Literally only get to spend 10 minutes with it after setup before I got pulled into work stuff again. Did manage to fire up Mass Effect Legendary Edition and check in game calibration and it's almost dead on. I have to set Black to 6 and white came in at 1050 on my CG437K but this one is 1 and 1000 right out of the box . Work should be quiet tomorrow so I'll get some game time.
