The GENKI: Bluetooth Audio adapter for the Nintendo Switch by Human Things features an USB-C connector and is compatible with Bluetooth 5. According to the Kickstarter page, this allows users of the Nintendo Switch to use up to two pairs of Bluetooth headphones with the console at the same time. When only using one set of headphones, the GENKI device only exhibits 40 ms of latency to keep your gaming audio perfectly synced with the console. It only draws 0.02 watts of system power and doesn't use batteries. The Kickstarter has exceeded the requested funding, but remember that there is always a chance that the development of the device will fail and there are no guaranteed refunds.

GENKI follows the Nintendo’s USB audio protocol and therefore receives power directly from your Nintendo Switch. But don’t worry, it only draws 0.02 Watts. To get an idea that’s like 1% of your Nintendo Switch’s battery, which is less power than if you had used the built-in speakers. This means you don’t ever have to charge GENKI. And because a battery isn’t needed, there is absolutely no risk of bricking or damaging your console like third party docks.
 
The fact that this device doesn't support bluetooth out of the box is simply unacceptable. Along with the other (many) hardware shortcomings, I don't know why ANYONE would buy it!
 
the fact that this is the first bt dongle ive seen that supports two people hearing the same damn thing at the same damn time is impressive and i wonder what the hell took the industry soo long to not see this a feature to integrate into all the bt things

Like any console, most people can look past most shortcomings for the various things that they value and can call pluses.

I personally played the majority of Super Mario Odyssey while on break at work. And a modicum of Zelda. I’m now playing Octopath Traveler which is a superb and refreshing RPG exclusive to the console.

And honestly is there anywhere else you can go for mobile Doom or Wolf2? Inferior versions no doubt, but I can still enjoy at work or in a hotel room.

Hell I can sit at home and play while Futurama runs in the background. Because yeah, I need that background noise while I play sometimes. There are many many fucking reasons why someone might purchase an item despite it not being the perfect product. So kindly fuck off with your bitching about a rather capable piece of hardware.
 
Didn't know the NS lacked BT.
AFAIC, I could live w/o BT audio, I'm not a fan of the lag and signalling breakup on my phone if a body part blocks path.
Usually like to wear the BT receiver around my neck an have the phone in my rear pocket but there's no connection, same thing if I have my phone laying on the table and I face away.
 
Am an early bird backer (I believe I was #14 actually) even though I don't even have any aptX-capable bluetooth devices yet! The NS does not lack BT, it lacks BT audio; my NVIDIA Shield TV, which is built on similar technology, has BT audio and quite frankly it's unreliable and has high latency. I'm guessing this is why Nintendo went without it, especially since their approach to online/chat seems to be via phone app for some reason.

As far as the Genki goes - you can also use it while docked with a USB C to USB adapter.

That seems crazy to me. I've had Bluetooth headphones that had no breakup through walls. I have a little off-brand Bluetooth speaker in the bathroom that pairs with my phone in the bedroom and plays music/podcasts without issue.
 
Nintendo lost their mojo after the SNES. Now they are just a software company for children.

Their hardware is cheap garbage, sold at a premium price.

Also, why do we now need the public to fund cheap Chinese hardware development?

My BT receiver 4.2
And my J3 Prime 4.2, power class 1.2
Guess it just the good old 2.4ghz not going through the body very well.

I still don't get it, unless there's something wrong with your hardware/software or you're storing your phone in a very odd place. Bluetooth is relatively low in terms of transmission power, but its signal is at least powerful enough to propagate around any body part intervening between, say, one's pocket and one's head.
