Hi all,

This is a quick turnaround item for me and I am not a storage guy, so I was hoping someone can help me out with this.

We have a Dell R430 server and an MD1220 storage array. We are looking to purchase a SAS card and cables to enable the two to talk.

The MD1220 is 6GBps SAS. I can't find 6GBps SAS cards compatible with our R430 server. I can however, find a 12GBps card (http://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop.../apd/405-aaes/storage-drives-media#polaris-pd) which is compatible with our server. Can we use this HBA with the 6GBps backplane on our MD1220? If so, what type of cables should I buy? Can I use 6GBps cables with this HBA?

Otherwise, is there a 6GBps HBA that is compatible with the R430?

Yes you can. Because the ports are different you will need a 6g to 12g SAS cable.

Search for "SFF-8088 to SFF-8644 Mini SAS HD Cable"
