I've never heard of these guys before. I tend to stick to AAA games for the most part. Not that this shields me from disappointment by any means, but I'm very picky about the games I pay for and most smaller developers generally fail to deliver the kind of experiences I'm looking for. Plus, they lack the general hype train to get on my radar.

They made the Gothic and Risen series.
 
These were my thoughts after completing the first game, in the original Elex thread. It was worth the time if you didn't mind the eurojank.

Looking forward to this, though not enthusiastically. Each of their releases shows some stubbornness in refusing to learn from what other developers are doing. The quality of the gameplay in their games has improved, but at a very slow pace.
 
All of them are fun little RPG's with a fair amount of jank and some very broken mechanics, iirc in the first area of Gothic 2 i believe you can grab a scroll that turns you into a black raptor, then proceed to decimate all the creatures in the area which hilariously overpowers you.

Elex is hard unless you run to a certain settlement, get the flame thrower, then just abuse the stagger mechanic, gg-ez.

Sweet, for the past few years I was unable to play an open world RPG to completion. Not even The Witcher 3.
But I did finish Elex and played it quite a bit. The game was quite fun. Reminded me of the old Gothic games and from my understanding, made by the same team.

On a side note, anyone remembers how fun old Gothic games were?
Like, you ffind a monster that one shots you, but you kite it to the guards and they either kill it, or it kills a bunch of them and you just looooooooooooooooooooooooot :D

While you wait if you haven't played Risen it also is made by same company and nails the same gameplay.
 
ELEX II- Factions Trailer




-The Berserkers: They are skilled magicians, who use the power of Elex to perform all different kinds of spells. They have managed to transform the desert of Tavar into a green and lush utopia and have established an outpost in the former stronghold of the Outlaws

-The Outlaws: This faction is scattered throughout Magalan - some outlaws have joined the Berserkers when they took over Tavar, some moved to the crater landscape of Ateris, and have continued their life of crime

-The Albs: This faction learned from their defeat in ELEX and has returned as a playable faction. Jax can once again choose to become an Alb Commander. They have reduced their usage of Elex drastically, as they have seen how effective an Alb with actual emotions can be when Jax brought down the Hybrid. They are still not the most joyful lot, but their combat prowess makes them an interesting choice

-The Clerks: They are famous for their love of engineering and crafting powerful combat robots powered by Elex. The Clerics paid a high price in the war against the Albs. Not only did they lose their home in Ignadon but many of their brothers and sisters fell on the battlefield as well

-The Morkons: This is a brand new faction in ELEX II. When the meteor hit Magalan, some survivors fled to an underground tunnel system and lived a life of darkness and deprivation. But recently, they've started to leave their isolation and want to spread their religion all over Magalan and wipe out anyone standing against them

Man I want to watch but this is one of my most anticipated games and don't want to spoil the sense of discovery at the beginning.
 
Tried the first one, could not get into it, dated graphics, clunky controls, think it's one of those games that fall under the Eurojank category.

People don't play Piranha Bytes game for the graphics. I can tell you though you are wrong about the game not being immersive. Their games really nail the sense of exploration, discovery and freedom. Going on a quest from across the map really feels like you're setting off on an adventure. Especially early on when you are weaker. Elex 1 was one of my favorite games I played that year and I think Elex 2 will only be better.

Yes all Piranha Bytes games are super jank, much wow. I do mean much wow, the jank combined with the ambition makes for some very... interesting mechanics. The jetpack in Elex can be used for some pretty janky moves, the lack of enemies needing stamina (while you do) is questionable in design. Also if you just rush to the technological faction's store you can buy a grenade launcher thing that staggers everything it hits, completely breaking combat.

All their games are like this, one of the Gothics you can over level your character in the first area by using a scroll that turns you into a raptor and then kill everything for the exp.
 
I've been looking forward to this one!

But, knowing Piranha Bytes, it'll probably be best to wait a couple of months for them to patch it up proper....
 
Lots of complaints about the camera and general performance. Not a graphics showcase but it chugs like one.
