I speced in Socery but planning to raise my Faith to level 10 for healing and curing posion unless the recipe can be found for curing posion is easy to find.

I generally recommend consumables in souls games, to cure poison. Its faster.I speced in Socery but planning to raise my Faith to level 10 for healing and curing posion unless the recipe can be found for curing posion is easy to find.
Honestly, a lot of people have issues with Margit because they really are getting to him too early. If you look up a map of recommend travel/flow through the game world, by the time you get to him he'll be a lot easier.
So I finally beat that fucker Margit. I managed to do it solo and melee only at level 25. I thought wow, if I can do that then the rest of the game is going to be a cakewalk. But here I am at the very beginnings of Stormveil Castle getting my ass kicked. That first knight guy (not even a boss) was super difficult for me. I had to retry like 10 times. I'm still questioning if this game is for me. Because it's not really fun to have to run through the same section over and over again just to get back to an encounter. I wish there were a mode where you could practice against enemies in an arena so that you could learn their patterns and attack timings. As of right now I die, have to spend 5 minutes fighting my way back to them, die again, spend 5 minutes fighting my way back, repeat 20 times... It's maddening, especially watching the hours go by and making zero progress.

Same here. I played Demon's Souls at release on PS3 (I think i rented it from Netfix, if I recall). I quickly got bored and moved on. For me, it wasn't the difficulty that was frustrating: it was the ultra wonky controls and fight mechanics.I played dark souls prepare to die years ago(steams says 2014) but never really got far. So yeah it's new to me. I already have about 50 hours in this game and having a ton of fun.

I have to say, that I'd also enjoy either a "story mode" or something else. Let the "Git Gud" crowd have their game, but let me enjoy the art, audio, story, and game design at my own pace. I ditched Sekiro for many of the same reasons. I plodded along with DS:Remastered by watching a playthrough. So I finally beat that fucker Margit. I managed to do it solo and melee only at level 25. Not really sure why’d you buy a game that is bigger then sekiro if you couldn’t finish sekiro. Makes zero sense. Although I will say this game is easier then sekiro since you can grind out levels/stats unlike sekiro.I have to say, that I'd also enjoy either a "story mode" or something else. I know I suck at this game, but its quite a spectacle and I would like to enjoy it at a more relaxed (daresay, casual) pace.
I will say this, I'm actually progressing more in this game, without spoilers than in my DS experience. I consider that a bit of a compromise that Fromsoft has made.
I think I’m around 30 hours in. Finished the Academy, went North and was denied so now I’m heading East. I think I’m around level 50?
I am about where you are...East seems tough. Were you denied at?the great lift
A couple devs from Guerilla Games are salty over Elden Ring's Metacritic score.

Horizon Forbidden West is sitting at an 88 on Metacritic, for reference. Bigrebo is the senior quest designer and Salamatizm is the "UX" director. Screenshot only since they both have since made their tweets protected.
Yup, I have half the key from somewhere, can’t remember where exactly but apparently the other half is in the east. I didn’t feel like taking the tunnel.
Same...those:Obirds
Well I think most of us saw the place early and just decided it was the right way to go lol, yea Margit took me about 15 attempts at level 10 but I didn't find him any harder than typical Souls bosses, so I did continue feeling I was going the right way. I literally ran straight to Stormveil when I started my game, I didn't even know about Arts of War, Upgrading Weapons, and was confused by the description of Round Table Hold (I thought it was for multiplayer so I didn't go there until way after Stormveil Castle). Godrik took me closer to 20 attempts, I was probably about SL12, at this point I thought I might have been under leveled.Honestly, a lot of people have issues with Margit because they really are getting to him too early. Well, that map is correct for story purposes, even beyond just what the levels of the enemies are. It largely follows the path you'll need to follow for a certain overarching quest line..Well I think most of us saw the place early and just decided it was the right way to go lol, yea Margit took me about 15 attempts at level 10 but I didn't find him any harder than typical Souls bosses, so I did continue feeling I was going the right way. I plan on starting up a mage or bandit next game and will likely visit Stormveil around SL20-30. I think this is the more appropriate level range for this area, especially for people newer to the genre.
I did glance at Fextralife's recommended soul level by location, It seems accurate to a certain extent, but I recommend subtracting 10-15 levels, -2/3 weapon upgrades per region otherwise the game feels a tad too easy for souls veterans.
1. in this open world----you don't need to slam yourself against the same wall over and over. Go....somewhere else.
2. Try utilizing some things which you aren't. LIke, try throwing something. You might be surprised at how much a couple of firebombs or magic bombs or even a throwing knife, can turn a fight in your favor. Shoot a bow. Try a magic spell. Put an elemental grease on your weapon. etc. This game offers you soooo many tools. There is no reason to stick to whatever it is you are sticking to. And arguably, you won't complete a lot of the content if you don't don't utilize more tools.
3. if at fourteenth you don't succeed----go increase your stats and upgrade some weapons, etc. If you can hit harder in the main ways which you are using, you will finish fights more quickly.
I thought there was a Grace spot in the tunnel just before the Margit encounter? As for the lift key, i do know there's half of the key in Fort Faroth in Caelid. (If you've found the 3rd church of Marika, there's a teleport on the East side of the small lake/pond to the north of it that takes you to the area, but have to go south through mobs first) As an aside, there's a crashed dragon near the Fort that gives like 74000 runes (one time only) and a grace spot near the fort itself.
Bunch of harpies/bats in the fort though that poison.
This game is exactly like a Souls game, just in an open world. It feels like the culmination of all the gameplay ideas explored throughout the series presented in one giant epic.Exactly this! There are millions of ways to approach something in this game, and if it's still too much, just come back later. Just exploring is fun enough in this game. Also, it's quite clear not a Souls game despite its heritage and similarities. (one of the reasons I think it hooked me actually)
In my experience they are easier than Sekiro, about the same as Dark Souls 3, there are a few minor bosses as easy as DS2 non-DLC bosses. But there is something like 80 bosses in the game.how do the bosses compare to previous FromSoft games (Souls/Sekiro/Bloodborne) in terms of design, difficulty and fun factor (I'm referring to playing solo with no summoning)?

It feels a lot like Dark Souls 3, in my opinion. Thankfully, with the sheer number of bosses the AI feels smart and varied. And you have to clarify "summoning." In my opinion you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't utilize spirit ashes. Coop is up to you, but with how things scale I don't feel like summoning other players really makes the game any easier. Hmm so far I haven't came across a boss that hard. I would say I have encountered a boss about the difficulty as Gael.so the toughest boss equals the difficulty of Sister Friede (Dark Souls 3)?

I would think of spirit ashes as employing a strategy than getting help. Think of it like playing a druid class.I will never summon!...it's part of my FromSoft badge of honor...no spirits, no co-op, no NPC summoning...it's me versus the world!...if I can beat Lud and Zallen, Sister Friede, Nameless King, Darkeater Midir etc solo then nothing can stop me![]()

Sekiro is pretty fast paced. But it also relies heavily on parry timing and punishing guard counters. Its not open ended play-how-you-want, like Dark Souls. Its even more focused than Bloodborne. (although Sekiro does have several spells which offer extra utility. and some of the bosses are particularly vulnerable to some of them)So, as someone who beat this game, I gotta ask because I never attempted Sekiro - worth a playthrough? I couldn't stand the slow action pace of DS1 or Demon Souls (even the remastered version didn't do it for me). But I hear Sekiro is a lot more fast paced. From a challenge perspective, does it put Elden Ring to shame? I will say that for Elden Ring, if I did not use spirit summons there's no way I would have beaten this game. I also think the game was built with that in mind, I don't see many people playing through without using them at all.
As a minor spoiler as far as spirit ashes go -once you get the Mimic Tear spirit ash, the game becomes almost too easy to some regard. Making a pure copy of yourself that uses all of your builds weapon arts and spells is admittedly overpowered
