Can one still buy one of these, and where? Not sure if anyone is selling on ebay - not sure what to search - ie 'goldfinger' doesn't turn up any search results other than James Bond stuff.

Actually just search 'goldfinger device' in ebay will return some hits. Funny thing is, it costs about the same as the Athlon 500 itself lol

I dont think it is worth it. I have an old Slot A 700MHz Athlon. Was thinking of upgrading it to a 1GHz or 1.1GHz (The highest they went I think) a while back. There were still some places selling them when I was checking, and some on ebay...but the prices werent really worth it for the lackluster performance they offer these days.

I tried making my own. It was easier to just resolder the resistors a couple of times to figure out the max stable speed. :p But maybe that's not for everyone.

Yeah, Ebay is your best bet on finding one. They sure were a hot item a few years back but now about worthless.

hey i used one of those to take my 600 to like 850!!! ..... let me see if i can find mine..i had 2 of them, one with dials, and one with dip switches..Ill give one to you if you pay shipping...

Got to find it first though...

I have a Afterburner GFD..with a 500 Athlon....the first Athlon =)

I also have a K7M if you interested....let me know.

i myself have the minjamicro goldfinger device which safely took my blindly bought 800 to 950 and my friend's 600 to 800 and a tbird 650 to 800 as well...if you're interested drop a PM...i also have the settings sheet for it as well...

i got a fic SD11 and a 900 around im thinking of makeing a in to a linux file server

lol i got the k7oc device. used it to find my max stable speed on my 750 slot Athlon tbird then did the resistor mod to make it always run that with the case on.

Yeah, I think I had the k7oc one as well. Took my 500 to 700. At the time (1999?) 500's were going for $300 CDN & 700's were going for ~$700 so it felt pretty good. Cracking open the case was a little nerve racking tho.

Anyways, athlon classics can be had on ebay for like ~$5 plus shipping, so I'm wondering if I should build a fleet of overclocked athlon classics :D

Whats is funny is i got it for a 9th grade project and ended up getting an A cuz my teacher had no idea what the hell i was talking about. all i did was talk about clock speed vs voltage vs temp.
