We don't have any real numbers either way. Surely you don't believe what a sales guy is telling you?

That’s basically the best real numbers we’ll get. Who less biased will they come from...

20 series video cards are dying left and right! BSOD, CTD, issues with g-sync, freezing at 1350 mhz, etc. I can't believe Nvidia could release such a buggy product.

When you pay top dollar you'd expect flawless performance, but nope!

Good news is I hear that they are releasing a new driver that -might- fix some of these issues, but i expect the hardware defects still won't be fixable. GamerNexus did a bios update and couldn't fix the stuck 1350 mhz frequency.

Yeah I just installed the nvidia drivers and have not done any overclocking. Forza 4 at 4k60 all settings ultra with vsync only used like 60 to 70 percent of the card.

If it's only using 60-70% of the card then it's not giving you full performance. Do you use a g-sync monitor?

I will be curious to see if my card survives the whole weekend of BF V - we shall see.

Some seem to think it’s a faulty batch of VRAM. Given the length of time to failure that’s tough to test for. Even if you held a card back for long term QA it may not be affected or if it’s 2-3 weeks later the batch is already out there.

From what we know non-FE cards have normal failure rates (from der8aurer). And honestly I usually wait a few months to buy something - or the 2nd gen of a model of a car - because higher failure rates aren’t abnormal for any type of product when first launched. Welcome to the world of early adopters...

May also want to poll when failed cards were purchased? Maybe the batch of failing GPU are the first batch from week 1 or 2 of availability. I just checked my cards and they are both micron memory, but have held up to game playing for 10+ hours now each.

Nope, a 3 year old Samsung 4k60 display. If the nvidia bfgd ever comes out maybe I'll upgrade. In forza 4 there are no settings left to max out so the card doesn't get fully used.

My point is that it's not real numbers. The RMA rate could be 20% but he isn't going to come out and tell you that. Until Nvidia come out and says there is a problem then retailers are just going to keep reassuring us that everything is fine and return rates are low.

So you won’t believe a german overclocker that has no problem criticizing nVidia/Intel but you’ll trust nVidia themselves? Not sure I see the logic.

I played Call of Duty was fine for the hour I played that no crashes there with my 2080 EVGA
I had some crashed with Hunt Showdown not sure if it was the game or card my memory spiked to 8.5 gigs in use and said out of memory and crashed think it was system Ram. So I disabled a bunch of stuff on my system.

He isn't just a German Overclocker. He is a product marketer for CaseKing. Where did I say I trust Nivida? If Nvidia never admits there is a problem then no retailer/etailer is going to come out and say there is a high return rate and risk damaging their sales.

“My name is Roman “der8auer” Hartung and I am a mechatronics engineer from Germany. I've been active in the extreme-overclocking scene ....”

He hand sands silicon off dies of cpus to save a few degree C but he’s not an overclocker? Shit he has less skin in the game than nVidia...

Read his BIO on Caseking, He is employed by Caseking, He is a product engineer and Marketer for them.

Less than a week in the system, and lots of gaming hours on it, at least half of those overclocked for max effort (2100/+650 on memory) Power target has peaked as high as 132% on a 130% setting during those gaming sessions and test runs. I opted to go back to stock settings as it was doing its own GPU boost to 1950 while keeping the temps in the low 70's rather than 80's overclocked. In benchmarking, it showed some gains, but in regular gaming I wasn't feeling it in the fps department. I was "hearing" the fans at those settings which while not annoying, I'd prefer my system to stay relatively quiet.

Crossing my fingers that this is a good card and won't crap out on me.

Starting to have some crashes playing PUBG on one of my cards. Not sure on the serial since two of my cards are 0323 and two of them are 0324 and I don't know which is which. Getting loads of coil whine from this card when doing iray renders. All cards have the same problems with Vrel and Vop throttles. Not confidence inspiring.

I guess I have to change my vote in the poll. Played Witcher for 3 hours and the screen started artifacting badly around light objects at first then randomly elsewhere 10 minutes later. Temps look normal to me low 70's fans are barely spinning per the profile. Switched to Destiny 2 since that what I play most and its artifacting everywhere. Mine was a Zotac triple fan.

Micron here as well - Although my card is from the second wave of sales, not the pre-order sales. It seems that it's mostly the pre-order/first shipment cards that are failing en masse.

Tried my my best to find out where it belongs but could not find any missing screws.
Tried to shake the card to check for more screws.
Trust me when i tell you i was nervous when i was waiting for it to post

Could have just been an extra screw that got in the bad somehow. I wouldn't worry if the card is working.

Updating my vote to other issues. Tons of artifacts and things that just don't look right leading up to game crashes. Zotac amp ti edition. Going to hold off on an RMA until they sort the issues out as it still kind of works. Nvidia drivers and no overclocking.

Lots of cards wasted. So sad... and so expensive! :nailbiting:
That's what you get when you outsource your gpu manufacturing to Cyrix.
Guess I'm skipping this GeForce version

Both my FE and Zotac ti's have micron memory and have been great for the month and probably 100 hours on them. Of course, mine are on water, so the cooler temps make a difference

My 2070 is Micron as well. I don't think it's an issue like people randomly hypothesise. Just usual supply chain musical chairs.

MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z - Micron Memory

Working great until I ran Time Spy and received my first TDR. So I am a little skeptical if it is a good card or not... I will keep everyone posted.

From Asus:

"As of May 8th, your warranty shall not be void if any warranty seals are altered, tampered, or removed (for the U.S.)."

Fuck yeah for those of us underwater with Micron memory.... *jacks VRAM OC back up* Space invaders here I come!

So I have a 2080ti Asus Dual still going strong. I have a friend a MSI 2070 Armor. Both doing ok.

So I had an Asus Dual 2080 ti die on me after a month sadly. Games started crashing after a few minutes with no oc, then artifacts like crazy, then dead.
