What build are you? I've seen poison dart WD's easily surviving in 60+ (a heck of a lot easier than my DH anyway). It just takes the right gems and knowing when to use. I was in a 62 just yesterday with my DH where this poison dart WD kept living through apocalyptic affix combos. I still need to see how he did it.

Personally, I've noticed my dart WD survives best in parties that have a monk and barb in them. Make sure you get some damage reduction gems, and with their buffs you can survive easier. I mean with a monk my dart WD was facetanking mobs in like a 55, iirc, even with affixes. Our party left us behind and I ended up DPSing down a yellow elite and a blue one. And my gear's not that amazing, really. The only ancient piece I have on is my Dagger of Darts, so I'm missing a lot of vitality. But either way with the CC "fixes", some combinations of affixes are just darn near impossible. Like good god, I pray for your safety if a group of blue winged assassins with Jailer, frost, lightning, etc etc... come your way. With the way this patch has reworked CC, I just really would not play any HC character in a higher level group grift. Solo, you're not necessarily any worse off than you were before. You know what to expect. But builds that were made for group play (ie having a tank) are really getting shafted hard. Don't take them into any grifts where you can't facetank literally anything that comes your way.

How does it compare to Dagger of Darts builds? From what I read, both of them seem to be able to go up pretty high.

We have pretty similiar DH's and was wondering how high you crit for since you have less Sheet DPS and more discipline, as well as more MS and Fire Damage.
I have 78 discipline I believe, you should have 80 or 81.

I have an ancient hellfire with the Single Out Passive that gives me a few more % of damage and toughness but I was wearing this Leech one to keep me alive longer, have almost 40K life/hit with this on.
I am critting almost to a billion depending on the party, not sure which class is boosting my damage and that is not with a shrine, pylon, or Companion Wolf Call.
When I play alone with my Enchantress, I see crits up to 600 million, average seems to be in the 400 range.
When in a 4 party GR50 I don't seem to be causing much damage to anything which sucks when there is no one in the party that can group the enemies together since I'll be attacked from all directions and can only take few hits before I die.

Not sure how the Carnevil build compares to the Acid Cloud build, but the top few on the leaderboards are using Acid Cloud. I've only done a 60 with it, although I don't have an ancient weapon and some of my gear is bad.

The top leader WD in asia is a mix of Zombie bears and Acid cloud, with a preference in Zombie bears.

The cube powers were quite interesting. All of them were cubing Grin Reaper and CoE (which is expected), but weapons had some variety.

I have seen the following (wielded/cubed)

Cat/Furnace
Frog/Furnace
Frog/Cat

Frog = Thing of the deep, Cat = Henri's Perquisition (the off hand that charms enemies when they hit you).

Rest of the gear and skill set were basically identical, with variation largely in the signature they used to trigger F&R.

WD tanking is fairly easy with helltooth set. With my semi-decent gear, I have 45m toughness and 1.3m hp. I can also dps effectively, since i have short man finger cubed and each of my gargies do 1.5b (due to helltooth) in addition to 1b zombie explosions.

If you have a monk in the group, then tanking becomes even easier through the monk aura... last night I was in a GR53 with a monk and i had a hair over 90m toughness. Arcane sentries were practically tickling me.

Well if we're talking sheet dps in the link, mine is higher than yours. If you mean in-game, then I guess so. I'm too lazy to do hellfire farming, so I'm just sticking with whatever I had lying around (most of which are leftovers from my slowball DH stuff; necklace is from my Nat's DH). You'll notice my helm has the utterly useless EA % damage on it. So in actuality I would have more Multishot damage if I had another one of those. Currently I don't. Not one worth using anyhow. Anyway here, I just went and took a Shadowplay video and uploaded it to Youtube from a run I just did. You can compare your damage to what I do throughout. I think the only thing buffing my damage may be the monk.

Frankly monks make most runs trivially easy. What would have normally oneshot me was just "ouch" and then I'm back to full health. If that DH stuck around we could have probably gone through 66+ fairly trivially, but such is the way these things go.

For your DH, you're missing some stuff. I don't think your helm and whatnot will make up for the lost RCR on the bow. Plus the belt should be the one I'm using. Not for the damage buff, but because attacking much faster with Evasive Fire means you refill hatred much faster. If I just wanted damage, I would be using my Witching Hour. And of course I'm not sure why you're not using CoE as one of your cubes.

Out of 680 shards, Kadala dropped three set pieces for my WD. Two were from Zunimassa's set and were exactly what I was looking for. (Mojo and boots)

It allowed me to move up to T6 rifts. I die occasionally but the difference in drop rate is amazing.

Ya, your damage output is much much higher and I just realized that I was comparing my seasonal DH to your non seasonal DH.
When I looked at your profile the other day, your sheet DPS was only 1 million, today it shows 1.6 million.

I'll try the CoE in the cube, was using the RoRG for the Pride's Fall helm.
and I I'll try and find an ancient Yang's to use.
If you can get 100% RCR, that should mean that your hatred never runs out, right?
Also, I use the Krems for speed running the bounties and rifts, I use the Hunters belt when I Grift.

The loot gods were good to me last night. I finished my hc dh's Unhallowed set and found a second Unity to do immortal follower soloing. At the end of the night I threw a single bow into the cube and an ancient yangs popped out. Score.

Not everything is perfect though. I've found 3 restraints so far and no focus. Go figure.

Yes, the Hellfire amulet thing.
The bug is: you take only one armor(your hellfire amulet),go find some monsters to kill you until your armor(hellfire amulet)broken red,then take off your hellfire and you can find the passive skill from your hellfire is still working!!

So,you can do this again and again with your different hellfire, and at last you own all passive skills your character have.

Then,go to the great gift and enjoy!!

(I know this bug is working on Chinese server，you guys can try on your server)

Got SUPER lucky last night. Only had to do 3 epic-to-legendary conversions in order to get the Manajumma's knife I was missing. Now I can run the super chicken build!

Had a ton of fun with the Arachyrs/Manajumma's build. My angry chicken is hitting pretty hard, but not hard enough to wipe packs at higher tier grifts. Was grouping with friends and we were able to clear grift 40 with no problems. Haven't had a chance to solo run yet, so I don't really know how my performance is, but I am having a lot of fun.

Got my first Ancient legendary yesterday. (Deviltongue) I had no idea there was that much of a difference regarding stats, it gave quite a boost. I also got an improved Helltooth set piece from Kadala. These two items finally made me able to resist against Mortar and Arcane Beams on Torment 6 as a WD. These were the two things I kept dying to from time to time.

I also cubed the ability from Henri's Perquisition. Wow, does that make a difference. (80% damage reduction on first hit and monster is charmed for a brief moment)

Now I'm wondering if I should try to focus on completing one set for my WD or on Ancient items for the set items I already have. I currently have parts of three different sets on my WD. (Helltooth, Zunimassa and Jade)

Most likely I need to collect them anyway in the future and for higher Torment levels.

Ya, a clan mate gave me one piece, I used the cube doing the Rare to Legendary upgrade for 3 of the items and Kadala gave me 1 item.
I use the Cube a lot to convert, but you need to stockpile a lot of Death Breaths so I've been rifting for DB's and doing bounties for Act mats for cubing my items, got over 120 items cubed so far with my Demon Hunter, only need 28 items to complete it, I wrote down what I need so I can reference the list quickly to see if I need it or not. Not sure if you get a achievement or anything if you fill it up, but I just want it full for that toon.

I am also having some poor luck with the RNG like normal. Started the new season when it started and paragon level 88 right now, and only found two oranges that I am wearing, the locust staff and the mimic helmet. I am doing torment 4 right now with all yellow gear except those two. I did find out that when using the cube, don't just randomly put an item in the box and click the transmute button frequently if nothing happens the first time, cause it still uses those DB from the stash, (I should have not clicked something I didn't know how it worked). So I need to build up my DB stash again and try the transmutes you guys are doing....

Yesterday I decided to craft an ancient Scrimshaw (I'm told by other WD's that it turned out pretty good) and try out a solo grift with my WD. Frankly I just yolo'd it up and tried out a 55... and succeeded. On my first try... lol. Here's my WD (missing some legendary gems; my BOT is on my DH):

Afterwards I tried 61 some number of times for the hell of it to see if I could get on the leaderboards, but I kept getting pretty unlucky with the mobs; I was doing decent sometimes and ahead of the timer, but other times it was just bad. I also tried to do some solo 59 on my DH, but I kept getting very small, enclosed maps with winged assassins and those phantoms with undodgeable homing drains... plus it's not even that populated. So I'm sitting here wasting time kiting around killing 2-3 mobs at a time.

I honestly don't understand how people do solo in this game. It had me literally punching my desk sometimes out of frustration. Like it feels like the art of GR solo for rank-level grifting is basically: "Did you get lucky with the mob composition? No? You're screwed, GG." I frankly realized towards the end that I was just wasting time on things that were failed causes because there was no way in hell I was going to be able to do them. Now granted my WD doesn't even have ancient set pieces yet, and they're not even optimal rolls on each piece.... but my DH is significantly better geared. Though what's sad is I realized I was doing less damage than my WD when things were said and done, even though I was a complete noob at the WD playstyle. Like my DH probably couldn't even touch 61 without a lot of luck. My WD was actually doing competently and keeping up with the timer most of the time.


I think I'm missing some defensive options on my DH perhaps. I think the problem is that much of my gear is left over from when vitality and such didn't matter for slowball. So perhaps I need to simply reroll my gear for much more tankiness. I'm thinking perhaps I'll replace one of my gems with that Esoteric Alteration. I also need to get a Taeguk leveled up for the armor boost. I'm not even sure how useful those damage gems are when things are said and done, for solo play. Sure you kill faster, but if you can't survive it's pointless; a lot more leeway in group play... For my WD, I'm thinking about leveling up a Gizzard gem for that massive HP regen. With how long they stay in their ghost walk thing, that's a lot of time to regen.

TL;DR: My DH needs way more defense than it has, and mob RNG sucks.

Oh and I forgot to mention, throughout all this, there's terrible lag and rubberbanding because #eastcost. I love their servers. Again, I don't know how solo players deal with this bs.

Got a good strong HC Barb going right now. Self buffed and warmed up he has 100 mil toughness, and that doesnt include the further 50% damage reduction with unlimited ancients. WW hitting for 400mill or so on crits. Does well on T9 and GR40s. I can clear GR 45, I might try higher if I get some more ancients pieces.



Has anyone had a good experience with Bane of the Stricken legendary gem? I didnt really notice do a lot of extra damage when fighting a rift guardian. I wonder as a WW barb what counts for damage to add a stack, because if each hit count, I should notice the increased damage super quick.

Even with crappy stats, the +12 disciple would have been more dmg than 7 IAS IMO.

Damage range isn't that bad, +10% dmg, 850 dex, low RCR but at least it's ancient ;)

That bow isn't that bad, but getting 12 disc on the weapon would have added way more damage then adding attack speed

edit: beaten, but to add to this point, even a well rolled non-anchient yang with 12 disc might be better than your current weapon.

Just started a character a few days ago for the new season and I've been on a luck streak like no other. In 2 days I've gotten 3 Madstones, 2 Flow of Eternity's (1 of em ancient), 2 flying dragons, 3 gifts, 2 witching hours, Magefist, 2 of the new Monk Fist weapon, Uliana's set minus the helm. and my first leg drop at 70 was a Cindercoat. I"m using a generator build with Shenlong's and it's working well so far. I just need Restraint ring, Raiment shoulders, and Leorics helm and I should be able to push some higher GR's. I'm going to make another monk once I get a Fist of Az and Uliana's helm to drop and try out the Uliana's set. Hopefully this rng stays on my side.

Non-seasoner here.

Really enjoying the game right now. Lots of build variations that will ALL work to very high levels, of course there are the top top builds but most of the 6 sets can be pushed to T10.

This creates ALOT of variation in play style.

I still wish they would drop the season crap and focus on adding gear/content to the game. Still think seasons are just an ad-hoc way of forcing you to do the same things.

I'm also a non-seasoner for the same reasons. 5 new pieces of gears aren't enough to make me start over and farm over like I farm non-season already.

I have Uliana's set for monk and I'll just wait for the season ends to try the lion's claw. I can wait :p

"Shitty stats"...Near max damage rolls with +10%....12 discipline = 180% damage, 7% attack speed is never going to come near that.

Attack speed is worthless for multishot DH anyway. You attack so fast that any attack speed is just empty sheet damage. It is literally the most worthless thing you can possibly roll onto a bow.

I rerolled my DH's gear to have much more defense. Rerolled the bow to have LPH, but I might try vitality instead. It definitely lives much better, but it's still occasionally hard to survive in suboptimal grifts (which almost all of mine are). I'm really noticing the missing multishot damage, too... well I can roll it back on if I need it. The main issue is really my chestpiece. It's ancient but it came with no vitality. I also had to reroll the secondary to disc, so I have no leeway to put vit on it.

I've kind of given up on my DH anyway. I'm finding my WD to just be MUCH more useful in every situation. Especially the current helltooth build that I have. After I got that Gizzard gem leveled up a bit, I'm finding I can frankly carry people through like 60+ grifts. I'm pretty sure I could solo through 61 at this point if I wanted to, but I'm still going to level up my gems and try to get a few more ancient pieces before I make the attempt. Plus, Carn build is extremely powerful i group setups, and I'm noticing it does much more single target damage with my ancient DoD. WD is simply great this patch.

It either had a socket or low vitality, so think I've re-rolled that to AS and added another socket using the consumable cube.
Not sure if I can re-roll attack speed into something more decent.

EDIT:

Here's a question that's been bothering me:
Would it make sense to replace cubed Calamity with Thunderfury and replace Sentry/Polar Station with Caltrops/Bait the Trap?
