We have not yet published our review on the ASUS ROG STRIX X399-E GAMING motherboard, mainly because we have been using it for Threadripper overclock and cooling testing. It has been great to work with and given me no issues for weeks now. It is on sale at Amazon currently for $321 after a $35MIR. This is a great deal on a great motherboard.

I would,...oh wait,..it cant run Windows 7....I might,....oh wait....the damn RAM prices make it not such a good deal,......I thought,....oh wait......cant afford a freaking video card for it!!

ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!

As he is slammed into every wall imaginable he onlys imagines a world where toys could still be had,...without being had....

I ain't buyin' nuthin' without an official [H] review, Bennett!
I would not have posted the deal if it was a POS. I have been beating on this board for well over a month. It kicks ass.

That price sales you $80 off the MSRP that Newegg is selling it at.

I appreciate finding about these deals, but that discount does not come close to offsetting the cost of the RAM and video card. It is just too damn expensive to build a computer right now. OEM systems are starting to look good.

Wait,...did I just say that? Oh crap,...it's worse than I thought!

I need a drink.

Great, I can put in some of those extra new video cards I have and the 32gb of DDR 4 I have on the shelf.

Sometimes you have to look ahead to get ahead ;)

Yes, and I screwed the pooch on that one,...wait,...not literally. Pervs!

I would suggest there are a lot of folks looking to move to AMD Threadripper now from current systems that very likely do not need to upgrade GPU or RAM immediately.

I am sure there are. My old system does not have anything worth moving (DDR3 RAM, AMD 7950). If I could see the end of the tunnel where prices would get back to some level of decency,...it would help to justify a build as I could make do with the old video card. Keeping that in a system for a year or two would be,....well,...counterproductive, me thinks.

Kyle, I have this board's X370 version and it's been great for me. Did you test to see if the X399 version can accommodate 8 sticks of DDR4-3200 ram?

No. I have been running 4x8GB at 3200 on it. I can pull done decent timings as well. 16 16 16 39 1T iirc.
