Custom DIY Mount for Threadripper Water Cooling @ [H]

Thank you Kyle for posting your cooling work in progress. It has been a hell of a lot of fun these past few weeks watching you get creative with the new tech. Reminds me of the old days when almost every overclocking adventure involved custom cooling and other "out of the box" ideas to maximize our results.

Nice work Kyle. Looking forward to your results. Hope we see some results for the less expensive version of Threadripper once you figure out cooling etc. ---- along with the top end.

those were good times, the only thing worth forgetting though is the jet engine 60 and 92mm delta fans.. i swear i still have hearing damage from them.

That's the damn truth. The screaming 60mm Deltas are what led me to water cooling in the first place back in then. I know that 2 1/4 Amp Sunons (push/pull) on a '96 Escort heater core from that era seem loud these days, but it was quiet compared to the multi Delta 60mm fan air coolers from the socket 1/A days. The tower cooler performance/noise ratio these days really does blow my mind, but a custom loop is where it's at. When I think of the crap I put up with from vendors back then with a failures, the thought of an AIO setup going sideways these days makes me glad I've never dealt with it.

PS: I :love: the arrows on the tubes. I can't help myself either.

I remember having the old 1.33ghz Thunderbird and a heatsink with a delta on it, was bad enough putting the heatsink on thinking you were going to crack the core, then you had top put up with a dentists drill buzzing all day long.

i use to love seeing pictures of those old car radiator water cooling setups. some of the stuff people would come up with were nuts but i could never convince my father to let me do something like that though sadly.

I could not pull the block straight off the Threadripper. I had to slide it sideways off the IHS to break the vacuum. One hell of a mount.

I might suggest the mounting system is that robust to keep you from ripping the socket off the board while removing a heatsink if you can't slide it sideways far enough. :) Once we see full-face Threadripper coolers, those damn things might be very hard to remove.
 
So did your custom setup perform better than the included AiO kit (after lapping)?
 
EK denied HardOCP a sample since we do not put all its PR spam on our news page giving EK free advertising. So when you guys come asking for EK results, you will need to discuss that with EK.

I see that you requested a water block sample for testing, and I see that you are getting the newsletters, but I see no EK news posted on the web page....

And we have sent out quite a few samples for far to close partners and medias, so for now, we are not sending out new samples.
