I'm down for some more content from that universe. I really liked the story and the setup for everything. My hope is that the environments will be less empty. I kinda wonder if they added the ability to grab hunks of concrete after the game was mostly finished. There were so many empty rooms filled with desks, chairs, etc. setup almost needlessly since you could grab chunks of the floor and walls. It's not like there was anything hiding under all those objects either. They were just kinda there.

Looking forward to it. Alan Wake 2 and now Control 2. Maybe there will be some story cross over like they hinted at before.

Control was so weird and surreal and I really liked the first couple acts. Then it got really repetitive to me though. Same gameplay loop over and over and some of the backtracking was a bit annoying. It was like they just decided to wrap up, pack, and ship the game a bit earlier than they should have. I hope they improve the pacing in Control 2 and keep things feeling interesting and fresh as you progress. They have a wonderful foundation to work off of.

I was kinda disappointed in Control honestly. The gameplay was pretty fun but the story felt like it was going to be something WAY deeper and more complicated than it turned out to be. It had all the trimmings of a David Lynch movie or something equally esoteric, but it was all surface level.

The gameplay was pretty fun. The story ... was all surface level.
That's a top notch compliment? Unless you're playing a genre like walking simulator or graphic novella (or old school crpg) etc, this is exactly what most videogames are trying to be. Good gameplay with just enough 'surface level' plot to tie things together.
Want any more depth to the non gameplay elements, then non-interactive activities eg books, tv shows, movies etc. are where you would find those.

I thought it was some BTS real picture of a motion or sound capture session at first looking at the small picture embedded.

Agreed, the story never amounted to much. I feel like they could have went further there. As for repetition it starts to set in but the game is around 20 hours. It ended right when it should have. Very few games are fun enough to stretch past 30 hours without harming the narrative or gameplay.

right, i got that impression based upon game-play videos, so i waited till free on gog -was disappointed with mission system and story, so will be waiting for free sequel!

I wasn't disappointed! I was on a sabbatical away from gaming, then tried this and it hit the sweet spot just right. Looking forward to the 2nd. Nothing like yeeting things around at the enemy, creating your own chaos (normally most games I feel like I'm managing the chaos instead of harnessing it)

I do wish that Control got more psychedelic as it got weirder, but I love Remedy when they try to get weird.
I hope that history won't repeat itself for Control 2. Originally I borrowed a copy of Control from my roommate on the PS4 and it ran like garbage, so I decided to play it on my PC. It was the first game really to really push my computer at the time.

I'm probably going to get the Xbox version, it will probably play like dog shit on the Series S, and that in turn will probably convince me to embark upon a series of unplanned upgrades.

Cool something to look forward to you know won't be sub par. I wonder how they will change the combat Control was all about that weird guns phones and getting lost.

Action RPG? Meh. The best thing about Remedy games is they don't have RPG elements. I'm sure I'll still find it fun but a bunch of crappy side quests and annoying upgrades are just more things to get in the way.

Control already sorta has arpg elements to it in a way with all the component drops and what not (I forget what it's actually called ingame). I'd imagine this will just be a little more fleshed out system in that regard. I doubt it's gonna have have a traditional gear tier based loot system, but who knows?

Control felt more like a Metroidvania to me.
Which I suppose that depending on how pedantic you want to get about it, is another way of describing action RPGs.

Materials. Gathering components to improve your gear doesn't make it an ARPG, or an RPG of any kind, for that matter.

It's a modern action-adventure game. Action-adventure games have been made like Control for decades at this point. It has more in common with the Infamous series than anything else, which came out in 2009.

Devil May Control

Taking it out of the bureau's Oldest House kind of makes it look more generic. The environment/setting did a lot to set the tone/atmosphere. And yeah, it does look more like a DMC type game.

I agree. Also not being Jesse will also be a change. Jesse delivery was part of what made the game, at least for me. Dylan is not exact a main character I would expect to play.

Ok with them trying different things as I don't think this is Control 2. However different things didn't work out for them for that last game either so...

Yeah the fact the environment/building in the 1st was brutalist and simplistic/repetitive played into the fractal/geometric/repetitive parts of the intrusion/environment, opening it up to the city takes part of that equation out. Kinda looks more horror-esque/focused because of that being in the city now but maybe that's just me.

Flying + hack & slash could still be fun though.

The way it was being talked about prior to this reveal it sounded like a side game, but the website says this is the sequel. It would make more sense as a side game considering the change in genre.

I'm really looking forward to playing this one. I loved Control, the DLC (mostly), & AW2 Control DLC.

This could be good...I like that they're still going with the shape shifting weapons thing only now it's melee. I'll probably wait until the Jesse mod is released on nexus before I play :p

This and ONTOS were my favorite trailers from the VGAs last night.

I think the protagonist in Resonant is the brother of Jesse, the protagonist in the first game. Just based on his ability to shape-shift weapons.

I really liked the first Control game, but a bit on the fence on this one. I was really looking forward to the next game in the series, but the combat shown in the trailer did make me slightly less interested. I do prefer shooting at enemies in my games, rather than close range combat. Hopefully it isn't just hack and slash along with powers. Will definitely keep an eye on it, but it is no longer on the "must have" list for me.
