Anything lately Samir? Does CDW ever have refurb or cheap laptops that can handle light gaming? Looking for something cheap that can handle Diablo 2: Resurrected.
B and H has a decent used department. I have gotten a few things from them and seems to be ok. May want to check there too.

Some things have been light for sure in the last week or so. I have no idea what specs would handle that so give me some sort of spec to shoot for and a budget I'll see what I can find. (y) A heads-up though that this weeks workload is crazy heavy so I may not get to it until the end of the week and then just fall asleep. :dead:

I like B&H used as well (as well as some other places). But the differences is that B&H is truly used--no warranty or anything like that. And many times the prices are the same as the CDW outlet (or more).

Good to know. I've only purchased a gpu, mobo, couple cases and a few coolers from them. Nothing extravagant.

Because they used to focus primarily on photo and video gear, that's what I've gotten from there when I found it on the cheap (genuine batteries for my older cameras), and they've been good. (y) Good to hear that they're just as good with computer stuff. :)

For sure. They are one of my favorites now.

So as usual, looking for something else and ran into this almost insane deal on chromebooks that has got to be the bottom. HP chromebooks that are usually nearly $250 anywhere for just $57. That's right, nearly 1/5 the price of new.

They have 100 in stock currently at this price and 474 total (as of this post). Most are probably returns, although it seems that some were more used or came back with some missing stuff. Nevertheless, for 1/5 the price, I'm sure you can make do as some of those are currently at $43. Yep, practically 1/6 the price.

I don't think these will move anymore and the cheapest ones may even be gone by tomorrow, so here the link without further ado:
https://www.cdw.com/search/Computer...UT+ABA&outlet=1&SortBy=PriceAsc&maxrecords=72

I don't know who bought all these and then had to return them, but they're just one of A LOT of chromebooks in the outlet right now.

There's almost 100 of these enterprise HP chromebooks that are currently $100 cheaper than the normal $400 that you find them otherwise:
https://www.cdw.com/search/Computer...UT+ABA&outlet=1&SortBy=PriceAsc&maxrecords=72

These too look like a large lot that was returned, so I'm sure a lot of these will literally be open box new, probably never even turned on. :)

I have to say that these deals are on par with the very, very deepest discounts I've ever seen on the outlet--a whole laptop for far less than even 1/2 the cost of the parts--totally insane! Gotta love it! :D

I jumped on one of the Apple pens well over a month ago that was still showing in stock, but it hasn't shipped yet - just have the order confirmation and that's it. Is that normal or does that mean they simply don't have it?

Mostly business and workstation laptops, but if you look for one with an 11th Gen i5 or i7 it should at least have Iris Xe graphics. Those would handle it just fine.

More of those systems today have soldered RAM (i was recently surprised to find some Dell latitude systems, which traditionally have been very user-serviceable, now had this) so you’ll probably want to make sure it’s got at least 16GB.

The shortage has got even those disappearing quick though - at work just recently I had to buy about a dozen systems from the CDW outlet for new employees because Dell surprised us with another delay. Keep an eye on the pages and check them at least daily and you might find something, but I wouldn’t expect super low pricing on anything “high end”.

If you ordered online...then this is why you don't order online. If you didn't get it by now and don't see any in the outlet, then your order didn't get any allocated to it and is in the 'void'. I'm surprised it hasn't auto-cancelled, but I know they did some sort of upgrade, so now maybe these orders float around longer (forever?) in the void...

Interesting how you mentioned that the high-end is where you won't find low pricing as historically that's where I've seen the best deals. Has it changed that much?

This is the best thing I've found in terms of "cheap" and able to handle D2R bang for the buck. The Vega 8 in this would be plenty for just running in 720p I would think. I know they are garbage-tier quality laptops, but it would literally just be used to remotely control D2R over RDP @720p.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Gateway-...Webcam-HDMI-Cortana-Windows-10-Home/527562844

If you find anything better specced than that for the same price, or the same kind of spec for cheaper, that's kinda what I'm looking for.

EDIT - built in ethernet port is a plus. The one I linked does NOT have that, but a usb3 to gigabit ethernet isn't that expensive to add on.

Gotcha. Wow, that's going to be a tall order since the quality of stuff in the outlet is at least one grade higher if not two. But if there's something at that same price, it will be a steal since the quality would be 2x. (y) Will maybe I'll work on it today since I'm stressed the F out to the maxx. :hungover::hungover::dead::dead::dead:

I only started checking in late August for laptops. I was looking for anything we could get for my service desk team to provide to new hires, and we had planned to just buy systems with 8GB RAM then upgrade. But it seems most of the newer Latitudes have moved to soldered RAM, so I was limited to what they had with 16GB on board. I bought all 11 I could find that weren't Macs, and that was just a few weeks ago. Right now there's only 8 with 16GB in stock. They're cycling through them really fast right now from what I have seen.

We had placed an order in mid-July with Dell that kept getting delayed (finally shipped last week) but I needed these right after labor day. When we were told of the delay we had our Dell rep find laptops that were in stock in the Dell Outlet that could ship right away to cover what we needed. And then we got an order delay from the Dell Outlet, too!

CDW outlet saved us some headache there for sure, but the continued supply issue with tech is unreal right now. And not in a CliffyB kind of way.

Thank you for sharing your experience! I've never bought or watched laptops in the outlet except by accident so I didn't know the ins and outs as well as other stuff. Interesting that they're soldering memory in these days. I guess that just adds to the disposability of the hardware. :(

Yeah. It was an unpleasant surprise. I’ve come to expect it from halo systems like the XPS 13 but the Latitude ones have always been more user serviceable (and didn’t drop all the ports in favor of being extra thin).

Though kudos to Dell for putting it in the specs - “16GB, integrated” clearly stated in the product page when looking at the different models. But it took away what used to be an easy upgrade option.

I assume it’s because all the 11th gen processors can use higher speed lpddr4, so they use that instead of just leaving in slot for slower stuff.

I couldn’t tell for sure about the other models they had in stock so I had to assume it was the same for all of them. I didn’t want to order stuff we’d have to replace two weeks later when the Dell stuff finally shipped to us.

Anyways, if you see a laptop you like there I wouldn’t let it linger. I recall seeing some pretty nice HP zbook systems with Quadro GPUs in them, but that’s probably about as “gamer” a system you’ll find on CDW these days.

Yeah it is a bit weird for those of us that are used to upgrading latitudes and having them run for eons (seriously--I still have D610s and a D420 that still work), but it does make sense to align the hardware cycles with the software ones since with each major software revision, you pretty much have to get new hardware anyways. It will be interesting if these ever converge and you start having systems with the OS embedded with only a virtual layer saving changes.

Yep, the HP zbooks and other workstations are usually all you'll find, but I do remember that there would be some MSI laptops there every so often...yep, there's still some:
https://www.cdw.com/search/?outlet=...ch-_-search+all&SortBy=PriceAsc&maxrecords=72

Not the gaming models I was finding previously (at steep discounts I might add), but these seem more 'corporate'.

Last call on the cheaper chromebooks as now even the $57 are $49, and while there's no more in stock, the cheaper $43 ones dropped all the way to $35. That's got to be some sort of record--$250 vs $35.

The more expensive ones seem to have bottomed at $220 so far, or at least that's what price someone picked on up recently for. A nice discount from the normal $400 for sure, and there's a lot in stock so you can watch these and see what the real bottom is. (y)

Link? (PM me if need be.)
I am not sure how to PM here, but this is the part of the item description that I am wondering about. I have never seen this before (it's usually used, like new... etc)

If it's part of the item description, then that's actually the item itself and doesn't have anything to do with the outlet. What I will usually do is click on the 'Mfg.Part:' when on the outlet item page and it will take you to the regular CDW item's page. And then after that I will do a search on the manufacturer's part number and find out what the manufacturer describes/specs their item to be as all retailers description pages can have errors and shouldn't be relied on.

My guess is they're some kind of evaluation units, possibly lower-cost/spec, sent out to schools to try out for a limited time.
From what I've gathered in my quick looks at it, it's just the 'marketing angle' that the manufacturer has for that particular item. Might be crippled, might be full out enterprise, might be just a regular item with a special price/license/color/whatever. But it's not something unique to the outlet as an item like that can be found sold by other distributors as well.

So over the holidays my sister-in-law in Canada was showing me her work setup that she got with our housewarming gift and how she wanted a 4k display but that they're like $700cad over there. So I looked at the outlet and found some Samsung deals. I forgot I had it open and just saw that they have dropped again to stupid cheap levels. So without further ado...

Samsung 27" 4k for $180 that's usually $300+ used: There's a second sitting at $213 that will drop, but it's even a deal right where it sits. There's also 2x 32" displays that are going to be deals after a few drops.

Anyways, enjoy! https://www.cdw.com/search/?key=SAM..._display_native_resolution_ss:("3840+x+2160")

It's not yours until it's allocated to your order, and as of right now it's still showing in stock so it's still anyone's--although your order should be first in line once allocations start tomorrow. :D I really do miss having will call 10m away for awesome deals like this!

They must have more than one. I thought CDW stock was real time. I got an order confirmation this morning and it's still showing in stock

Order confirmation means nothing with cdw. You will most likely get a cancellation email.

On rare instances they will have more than one item per outlet CDW part number, but I've only run across this 3 times in all the years I've been buying from the outlet.

CDW's normal part numbers have real-time stock, but the outlet is manually allocated and updated. If there is only 1 item on that CDW outlet part number and you don't see the stock update shortly after you place your order over the phone where the agent allocates the stock to your order, you don't have it, even with an order confirmation since the order and the stock allocation are two different steps with outlet items.

This isn't correct across the board, just with the outlet. When I have order confirmations for normal orders they're allocated at the same time.

CDW when somebody buys non-outlet

Dunno about that, they've been competitive for genuine branded items from an authorized seller. The only place I regularly shop that beats their normal stuff is Provantage, but their shipping times are ridiculous as I usually have to wait nearly 2 weeks before receiving my order, which sometimes still works for things like replenishing supplies inventory like toner. I think the only other place I've used in recent years is Compsource and that was also a long wait.

Back in the day we would shop between CDW, PC Connection, and the Zones (all have changed names except CDW), and sometimes B&H. And generally for a lot of the stuff we need CDW is usually the best for us in terms of speed and price. Because UPS ground is only 2 days away from our main location, it's like 2-day air on everything, and when I lived within will call distance, will call was awesome.

They're definitely not a perfect company and have some issues for sure, but they've been reliable enough for us to be using them nearly 30 years later--and in today's dot com boom and bust gig app economy, that's a lifetime. And they've also been stable and reliable through the pandemic so that's been good too.

I didn‘t even know about the outlet . . . We still by from CDW quite a bit but we call up our rep who takes care of us. Also some of the largest Orgs out there buy from CDW. I personally know a lot of Fortune 500 do. Their external website is just MSRP most of the time.

I never said you couldn't shop at 7-Eleven. If it's the only place out there, you do what you have to do.
