My email address was still leaked. That's enough to turn me off for life no matter how it was done. This is a trading house dealing with real money. Security should be almost impossible to bypass, however it was done.
If Citibank and Bank of America can be hacked (and those are just the two I remember as having major problems in the past few months), not to mention ALL those other nonfinancial companies (Sony obviously being foremost in though, but it isn't like they are alone) can you really expect a site maintained by a small team (heck, maybe one guy) to be more bulletproof than those huge multinationals?
I just got my 2nd 5830. I haven't even opened it. The magic's just not there anymore.
I think they'll recover. I think now is actually a perfect time to put that thing to use. If I could buy right now I would.
Man Namecoins took a hit, everyone is bailing. Going to buy some at .02x and wait for them to go back up to .063.
can anybody help?
right now i have
a 6950 1gb
5850
5830 in my x58 mobo
the 5830 and 5850 are doing 300 and 250 or so respectively but the 6950 is doing under 200
anything I should be aware of?
thanks!

so right now i have some namecoins, should i grab domains? Those of you lamenting the namecoin increase in difficulty, some good news for a change. ICANN just voted to relax the rules of TLD registration and you'll soon be able to have dot anything as a valid domain. What does this mean? It means those .bit addresses you've been mining for will be accessible and very valuable due to their decentralized nature.

I'm not really seeing any doom & gloom over at btcguild, if anything the hash rate went up 100GH/sec today.

how does one do that?

I wouldn't mess with the voltage, from my experience most cards that can overclock well will do it on stock volts...
go into MSIafterburner.cfg and change these two lines to look exactly like this, then you will be able to OC/UC...
[ATIADLHAL]
UnofficialOverclockingEULA = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
UnofficialOverclockingMode = 1
then to underclock the mem slide the mem all the way to the left (as low as it will go), apply, then close afterburner, open afterburner again and you will be able to underclock even more if needed...
*sometimes when you reopen afterburner the mem will say 1000 (or whatever the stock value is), don't be fooled, if you move it even just a little the lower mem clocks will start showing...
If ICANN decided to allow .bit domains, the namecoin system is certainly not going to be the one they use. It will be handled like .com and .net and all the others.
If the namecoin system actually took off before that time, and millions of people were using it, the most that would happen is that the .bit owners would be allowed to keep their domain names when the switchover to the new system happened. On the other hand, at this point all namecoins would become worthless.
Namecoins are destined to be worthless, because if they fail, they fail, and if they succeed, the system is taken over by ICANN and they become worthless.
This is not working for me.
You assume that ICANN will be in the picture at all.
From a post on BTC Forums:
If Namecoin reaches critical mass, most people will stick with the system that came first and simply ignore ICANN's conflicting .bit or .web assignments.
Remember, ICANN can't force anybody to use their root nameserves. Even for a non-geek user all it takes to circumvent ICANN is a browser plugin, and I assume that this type of plugin would be turned on by default on a Firefox download, if Namecoin were ever to become mainstream.
?
to underclock the mem...? did you OC in CCC...? I would just set CCC to default and then use MSIafterburner...
Overdrive is not enabled in the Vision Center(new CCC) but MSI Afterburner never goes below 625 for mem. And when I close it and reopen it sets right back to the default 1250.
weird, did you make the changes to the MSIafterburner.cfg file...?
I have used this on 4 cards (2 were in crossfire) without fail...
Some info for you all:
The guy bought the 250,000 bitcoins for $.01 each has posted on a thread on the bitcoin forums, claiming he is not involved with the hacker and just put in a huge buy order when he saw all the sales going through. http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=20207.0
The guy who runs Mtgox created another thread on the bitcoin forums saying that he basically doesn't believe the first guy and thinks he is the hacker. http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=20250.0
