Even once the bugs were sorted out I found rage to be mediocre at best. Glad I waited and didn't pay full price for it.

Rage made me rage. I feel like rage 2 would just make me rage twice as much.
Imagine Rage^2... That'll be an explosive sequel!

And Bethesda has once again confirmed that I have no interest in paying more than $10 for their games. Doom 2016 stands alone among an island of abandoned franchises, and even that wasn't quite so amazing on replay.

Since Bethesda has stopped being able to write a decent story in any of their RPGs, they're forced to tap third-party dev studios to produce anything worth buying.

Bethesda has NEVER been able to write a decent story. They've had the occasional good side-story but none of their games have had good plots. Also, you are confusing Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks. Softworks is a publisher that handles publishing all of the games from studios owned by Zenimax. They not "forced to tap third-party dev studios to produce anything worth buying" they're doing their job as a publishing house.

I'm pretty happy to hear this. I really liked Rage once they finally fixed things...well as much as they could. It's not an all time great of course but it was still a lot of fun. It had really good combat and looked great. I'd definitely be interested in a sequel.

RAGE was a fascinating and sad example of the herd mentality. I see it with dogs. Who cares what's what. We're barking and ripping something/someone apart.

It was the last id game to feature strafe jumping, damn it. I loved the new Doom but it really clicked when I got the double jump and air control rune which isn't exactly how it all starts.

Perfectly said. And all too common among "gamers" these days.

Did anyone buy The Scorchers DLC? I bought it but never replayed the game to experience it. Is it good, bad, meh, etc.

I enjoyed rage and I never experienced any of these “bugs” people keep labelling it with. Sure the game had drawn in issues but aside from that it was a smooth experience.

It would raise my blood pressure so high I'd probably stroke out and die.

Then would come the next sequel: rage in hell. I'll be forced to play for eternity.

I remember having fun with the game eventually.

But, the tech (and premise) at the time, was more interesting than the actual game for sure.

The "full texture detail as far as you could see" no-lod thing was pretty awesome, but overall texture quality wasn't the best under close inspection.

I did not really care for the car upgrade mechanics, and the crafting seemed tacked on as well, but it was still an OK game once they fixed some of the more glaring problems, or perhaps, since video cards got good enough to overcome those problems.

I actually liked the game for what is was.
first person shooter with a touch of driving added in.

MY dad went nuts for it and I have lost count of how many time he has played this RAGE!, Tomb raider, and the Wolfenstein games.

I think I gave up on Rage when I was forced to do the car races to progress. It's been a long time, don't remember exactly what the deal was.

I enjoyed Rage once the most troublesome issues were addressed. Still, the ‘idea’ of what the game should have been was always more interesting than the game itself...

Nonetheless I’m looking forward play the rumoured sequel, but no preorder this time around...

Same here, it was a great game. Definitely not many that can match its atmosphere. I got it when it was maybe under $10 due to all the bad rep but it was probably some of best $10 spent and I bought expansion for full price. It did have some minor issues but with decent hardware and some config changes it worked quite well. It was fun to play and vehicles were great too. It would be neat if they take it further where you can do more in the game. So not sure if it's $60 but it was easily better than many other games so we shall see. Looking forward to a sequel as well!

I enjoyed it. I thought it added a decent chunk to the overall game. It didn't last too long, but definitely worth it.
