They should call this one "Battlefield: Fisher price edition" with the simplistic design and gameplay.
Can anyone playing the beta confirm it will run on DX11 plz?
Reason I ask is I'm still rolling a pair of 1080ti's in SLI due to video card shortages and gouging we are all aware of using DX11.
I can probably do the same in 2042 if it supports it.
thx in advance.
Congrats, not everone hates it, by the same token a hell of a lot of people do. Mainly because its been substantially stripped back and dumbed down from previous battlefield games. I don't really care one way or the other who buys it, not like my opinion of the game is gonna change anyones mind, everyone makes up their own mind in that regard, or they go to review sites and have their mind made up for them. If you want to buy it, knock yourself out, not gonna change my opinion that it's a dumbed down piece of shit that is likely repurposed using elements from the failure that was Firestorm.![]()
Really seems like you do care.
The system requirements say DX12 so im pretty sure it wont run on older versions. Can anyone playing the beta confirm it will run on DX11 plz?

Imagine turning Master Chief into a regular grunt/solider, like how DICE turned soldiers into common civilians playing dress up. Would it still be viewed as a Halo game?
The majority of the community agrees that 2042 isn't a traditional BF game and EA is going to force a new BF experience moving forward.
Portal is for those of us that dislike 2042 and they threw us hardcore BF players a bone.
Exactly. People don't seem to realize the BF2 of the good old days would be considered a niche among niches if released today with only revamped modern graphics and maybe some minor QoL tweaks. It'd be a disaster. Young minds not yet fully formed would suffer cranial liquefaction from the "OMG so slow" pace, not to mention deeper learning curves to everything. It's not that they're dumb, it's just conditioning. But also dumb.I've said it many times over the years, but we won't see authentic multiplayer military themed games ever again from major AAA studios. I'd like to be proven wrong, but the writing is on the wall at this point. Fact is selling cosmetics is a big business model even in paid full price AAA games. Too many fools buy these things. EA isn't going to leave money on the table. And half the community will say "its just cosmetics" or "well you can join the military" and defend these tactics. Artwork is part of the experience. It is a large part of why people play Battlefield, and not something like Unreal or Quake.
Over the past few days there's been rumors/discussion that the primary cause of the BF2042 gameplay changes (esp with the maps/specialists) was due to the game originally being developed as a BR, then last minute they decided to reskin it into a BF game. A lot of the reddit gaming subs seemed to agree with this assessment, due to some of the changes with the latest entry in the series.
Well today a bunch of gaming sites started to bolster this rumor with information leaked by verified insiders.
Battlefield 2042 Was Originally a Battle Royale Game, Claims Leaker

"According to industry insider Tom Henderson, Battlefield 2042 started as a battle royale game before returning to the franchise's "traditional" roots....Theories about the project's origins abound online, with many people guessing Battlefield 2042 may have initially been built with battle royale gameplay in mind."(full article)
I think this is my main issue and I didn’t even notice it until it was pointed out here.I’m going to go ahead and blame “woke” ideology for lack of factions. They don’t want good guys vs. bad guys or us against them. Next release will probably have gender neutral operators.
These studios just want to make sandbox environments and drop a bunch of extras in Seasons for us to tinker with.I've said it many times over the years, but we won't see authentic multiplayer military themed games ever again from major AAA studios. The system requirements from earlier stated only DX11 capable video card so I was holding out hope. Looks like I might eventually be in for an upgrade. The system requirements say DX12 so im pretty sure it wont run on older versions.
Respectfully disagree. If they reskinned BF2/BC2 and released it today they would be a bigger hit than they were release. Why? Because we had custom servers and community that us BF veterans miss. Actual team-play as opposed to just stuffing more players into the box. My teams BC2 server was full 24/7 with a waitlist usually.Exactly. Arma 3 is another supremely fantastic game, but is also a niche because it's much further toward the Sim end of the spectrum. And some of us have been waiting forever for Arma 4, but I am suspecting that game will never come because they've calculated the ROI just won't be there for that type of major investment. So instead they coast, putting out DLC after DLC for Arma 3 -- I think they're up to 12, which, Mazeltov, but the core game and engine they're built on top of is 10+ years old and clunky as hell, still bound to a single-CPU core.
Alas, like remembering back to the way your now-wife or girlfriend/boyfriend? put out on the first few dates, but no longer does. Those days are GONE, baby. This whole filthy business of military shooters, and the generational-disconnects between eras of videogames, it cheapens us all. It's disgusting.

The resistance in BC2 Rush was phenomenal. It took a lot of teamwork to push forward or defend.Respectfully disagree. IMHO once the dust settled you'd win over the kids bunny hopping around in this new BR reskin as the gameplay gets stale so fast. Plus... active administration with permabans means a mostly crud free playing experience.
My2c.
As a team we'd decide where we wanted to try to win a map. Yes, a lot of times we'd surrender a mcom slowly and just drain tickets & time and dig our heels in later. If we were on O, we would often blitz a known difficult mcom to avoid being ground down slowly. Game was so much more fun then. The resistance in BC2 Rush was phenomenal. Your team would get run over the first two MCOMs and then the team comes together and hold strong. Insane resistance until the end.

Same.. franchise long player here. Fond memories of the DC mod and early online play.I played since BF1942, and the series died for me with BF3. Clearly it's still enjoyed by many people these days, but it's not what it used to be and it's not enjoyable to me anymore.
Same here, been playing since BF1942 and IMO i think the game died after BF4. I really did enjoy BF4 quite a bit.I played since BF1942, and the series died for me with BF3. Clearly it's still enjoyed by many people these days, but it's not what it used to be and it's not enjoyable to me anymore.
I never really played BF4 because I didn't particularly enjoy BF3, and it seemed pretty similar.Same here, been playing since BF1942 and IMO i think the game died after BF4. I really did enjoy BF4 quite a bit.
Also, we don't talk about BF:Hardline around these parts right? lol

Hazard Zone is a mode where multiple squads compete to recover hard drives from fallen satellites. 32 4-man squads compete in a massive one-life capture the flag mode, basically.

Is it possible to redeploy multiple times in a Hazard Zone match?
If your entire squad bites the dust, the mission’s a failure and you lose the match. But should one member still be alive and manage to trigger a Redeploy Call-in (found in the world or purchased with DMC before a match starts), they can bring the entire team back to life.
Does Hazard Zone have any pay-to-win elements?
In Hazard Zone you will use Dark Market Credits which can only be obtained through gameplay, and not via real world currency. You can use them to purchase Tactical Upgrades, weapons and gadgets to give you the advantage over your enemies.
It is Capture the Flag.
It's just marketing, and probably not worth getting bent out of shape over. Not really sure why it needed a "big reveal" like it was some ground breaking new mode. It's as old as the hills. Virtually zero gameplay in the trailer as well.

It did give a few interesting new glimpses of the other maps, this one looked cool

You're not alone. Played so much 1942, Vietnam, and BF2 LAN with family. Such great mods for all of them too. Everything after that is just...nothing.I played since BF1942, and the series died for me with BF3. Clearly it's still enjoyed by many people these days, but it's not what it used to be and it's not enjoyable to me anymore.
Here we are just over a month before release and no raw gameplay has been shown. Meanwhile 4 months before battlefield 5's release we had hours of raw gameplay. Something ain't right.
For Portal, I'll be happy with 24/7 BC2 Rush maps with modern/WW weapons and no specialist.I'm honestly expecting another bfv type release, the main game first then other bits and pieces tacked on over the coming months. I'd be very surprised if the main game and all it's modes are all available on launch day. Portal mode might be worth a buy in itself if it's as comprehensive as they seem to imply.
I am looking forward to a 24/7 Hardcore 1942 Conquest El Alamein map! Was one of my all time favorite maps. For Portal, I'll be happy with 24/7 BC2 Rush maps with modern/WW weapons and no specialist.
I want the classic experience, so Portal is where I'll be 98% of the time.

To me the real selling point for this game is Portal. You can create the experience of the older games we all loved, that to me was the only good decision I see for BF2042.
