Hell no, not buying.
I will grab a 4080 at $799 though. I'll wait.

You'll get that in two years as a used card. Nothing wrong with that.Hell no, not buying.

That's kind of where I'm at, I'm only going to buy last gen right before next gen launches now due to pricing. Seems to have worked out this time around for me.You'll get that in two years as a used card. Nothing wrong with that.
I like the way you think. 4070Ti should be perfectly fine especially at 1080p, even 1440p.The 4070ti seems more my style plus I game at 1080P at 144hz. Also like the fact I can use my 750 watt PSU with the card with no problems
so I won't have to upgrade to something like 1000 Watt PSU with the other 4000 series cards basically require I mean I have two Back up 750 watt PSUs would hate to think it's obsolete because of the lower wattage. I mean I ran a 450 watt for like a decade the increase power consumption is just silly it's suppose to be going down not up.
if you go by that benchmark on 4080 it ended up being slower in actual games. Expect 4070ti to be around 3080ti or 3090 max.4070ti 5% better than a 3090ti in Octane Bench no idea if that is a good Benchmark but it's good enough for me.

Are "people" holding out? I suspect that it is far more likely that the market for ludicrously expensive video cards is simply saturated. People who bought into this market segment were only willing to spend that much due to the rather unusual pandemic-induced circumstances. It may very well be that most who were going to spend that amount on a gpu have done so during that time, and are unlikely to be willing/able/allowed to spend those sorts of amounts again so soon, if ever again.Yep...
...
People are only holding out on the 4080s because they think the market will correct itself. It will not. AIB's need Nvidia to throw them a bone this gen and FE cards will only trickle out to help them. Even if the 4080 price is cut, the FE models will disappear for a while, just like the 4090 FE has done.
Previous gen cards are going back up in price. It’s easier to offset the high cost if they sell their current GPU and other parts. This has been the upgrade path for many years. So yes, they are holding onto 3000 series cards until they see better 4000 series pricing. If better pricing never comes, then this gen will go the way of the dodo. Are "people" holding out? If that is the case, this sort premium product may very well go the way of the dodo. Unless, of course, some new crypto-like craze turns up again.
Oh I am well aware. Sad state of affairs. That began with the GTX 680. It was so fast and efficient, Nvidia decided to make a Titan card with the full die the generation after that.
The *70 die move up to *80 card and the *80 die moved up to Titan/*90. The RTX 3080 was seen as a mistake in pricing and the 3090/3080Ti was a price correction that lead into the 4000 series.

Does the RT overdrive mode for Cyberpunk ever got actually released ?
The 4070TI would be at least an interesting use case for that technology.
It's really lame nvidia won't roll out DLSS 3 to Ampere. Though I have a sneaking suspicion they will do it later this year. And give themselves a pat on the back somehow when they do.LMAO Nvidia just out did AMD in bars. 4070ti is faster than 3090ti by 3x in cyberpunk one would think lmao. Oh wait its with dlss3 vs standard and they don't even mention it on the slide. Only nvidia can sell a new thing and screw over the old users, 0 reason dlss3 won't work on ampere.

Is it known fact that the quality and maybe more so latency hit on Ampere is good enough for Nvidia to absolutely no reason outside artificial product differentiation to not release it on Turing-Ampere ? Reason like giving a bad name to the brand if its not that good on them. There is 0 reason to not release dlss3 for ampere they won't becuase of $$
I haven't seen anything. I think it is people just assuming NVIDIA is evil, which is usually a safe bet.Is it known fact that the quality and maybe more so latency hit on Ampere is good enough for Nvidia to absolutely no reason outside artificial product differentiation to not release it on Turing-Ampere ? So...$799...January 5th...seems OK? Or are we outraged?
People will be always outraged. Even if they drop the 4090 to $299 they will bitch.I haven't seen anything. I think it is people just assuming NVIDIA is evil, which is usually a safe bet.

I mean, I think people would be thrilled with 4090 performance for 299. I'd erect a statue to Jensen and tan a leather coat myself to wrap it in. It is kind of bull shit to be getting 70 level performance for 800 dollars now. I can't wait to see independent reviews, no doubt this thing won't get reviewed well.People will be always outraged. Even if they drop the 4090 to $299 they will bitch.
Nvidia sometime ago demonstrated that their products are no longer gaming only devices. Geforce Now is their service for people that just want to game or buy a console. Because they're aren't gaming only devices anymore, emphasis on digital production and research is talked about every presentation. If you're not making money in some way or fashion on these cards or on their stock price, the 3000 and 4000 series are poor values. As you pointed out, mining drove the sales of the 3000 series. There are many purposes that motivate people into buying GPUs so gaming isn't the only reason anymore.Nvidia can whine all they want about crypto, but they moved a lot of expensive GPUs in part because the average guy could tweak settings, mine with it in downtime, and make back his money in 3-6 months. A lot easier to justify a $1000+ card when you can make that back in 3-6 months. As a pure gaming device not used for production work or as a means of income, $1000+ is a lot for most people's hobbies during a recession with inflation running rampant (not a political thread).
No they won't. That is just a silly argument lmao.People will be always outraged. Even if they drop the 4090 to $299 they will bitch.
There is nothing really different. Lot of people have confirmed it browsing over twitter etc and others. Tensor cores are tensor cores at the end of the day.Is it known fact that the quality and maybe more so latency hit on Ampere is good enough for Nvidia to absolutely no reason outside artificial product differentiation to not release it on Turing-Ampere ? +1. Most of the time my gpus are contributing to BOINC and folding@home related (aka distributed computing) projects. At least my gpus are doing some useful work (nothing against gaming) for the benefit of science. There are many purposes that motivate people into buying GPUs so gaming isn't the only reason anymore.
Why do you think the 4090 is worth the cost?this gpu market sucks! the only card that is worth its cost is the 4090.
4080 $900
7900xtx $800
7900xt $650
4070ti $600
i feel like that is fair pricing.
Why do you think the 4090 is worth the cost?
It's a full die card that use to be $1000, that was price corrected to a $1500 3090 to price fix the GPU market.
It doesn't have DP2.0 and a card that fast needs it. But Nvidia will roll out the 4090Ti with the update for $1800+.
IMO nothing is worth the cost today, from GPUs to CPUs and motherboards.

I agree, just stating it’s not the best value of the 4000 series. They’ll all bad deals.4090 is like a super car. is it worth the cost, not really. but, is it the best? yes. if you want that, you pay the premium.
You better be using a 5800 x3d, 13900k, or 7700x if you want to get the most out of a 4070 TI at only 1080p. 4070 TI is around 3080 TI performance or better and my 3080 TI is just twiddling its thumbs at 1080p with sometimes laughably low GPU utilization. Heck even at 1440p I can't fully push a 3080 TI in most games. The 4070ti seems more my style plus I game at 1080P at 144hz. Also like the fact I can use my 750 watt PSU with the card with no problems

The 750 is fine. Cancel your 850.So I just got a 4080 Suprim but waiting on the 850 watt PSU you think it's safe to try out with my 750 watt?
Damn finally an excuse to run my RTX 4090 at 480p! 500 FPS!Dell Announce Alienware AW2524H with 24.5″ 1080p IPS Panel and 500Hz Refresh Rate

That's your next upgrade!
That's practically a new born baby! My AX860i is from 2012!Nah It's on the way my 750 watt is 6 years old or more.
Why on Earth would you upgrade power supplies just for a 100 watt difference? If you're going to go through all that freaking trouble then why not go 1000 watts and be covered for any possible future upgrades? So I just got a 4080 Suprim but waiting on the 850 watt PSU you think it's safe to try out with my 750 watt? The thing is a Motherboard bender for sure comes with a mouse pad and gpu support bracket.
