I'm not in the same situation as you financially right now because of getting laid off and seemingly being unable to get back up but I remember building my secondary PC last year and it was nothing like this. I would have been having so much fun with these prices.I've had this in mind for a while. I use a 4790k as my gaming and "whatever" PC and an FX 8320 @ 4.4ghz as my development machine. 3700x should be a fine replacement for the 4790k, used 1950x to replace the 8320 will be a dream come true. I'll OC that sucker to 4.2~ghz and watch renders and compile times drop by an exponent..
