According to WCCFtech's Usman Pirzada, AMD is going to launch "Ryzen 300 Series CPUs, Ryzen 3000 Series (APUs?) with Vega Graphics and a consumer Radeon graphics card" at CES 2019. Unfortunately, his source didn't go into specifics with any of the products, but past rumors indicated that the Ryzen 3000 series will likely be a 12nm update to AMD's current APU lineup. Meanwhile, the "Radeon graphics card" is rumored to be a consumer variant of the 7nm Vega GPU, presumably carrying the recently spotted Vega 2 branding. Pirzada also mentioned that Lisa Su will talk about AMD's 7nm progress at CES.

Perhaps the more interesting news is the confirmation that AMD will be launching a Radeon, consumer graphics cards. This much I have confirmed. As for what it is, based on my past talks with some industry insiders, I believe this is going to be the Radeon Vega II – the 7nm consumer variant of the Vega 20 GPU. This is something that I was told was one of the last projects of Mike Rayfield and should be the one AMD launches at CES 2018.

I hope they do good, even though I'm locked in to nVIDIA for the foreseeable future.

7nm vega 64 could be interesting, if that enables them to get a decent bump on the clocks it could be a good performer.

I'll be patiently watching...I haven't owned an AMD GPU in about 8 years? I'm putting together a new system and the GPU is going to be about 1/3 of my overall budget.

i hope they do well especially because my spending dollars are currently up for the better product and for the first time in years im open to AMD products due to both intel and nvidia issues of late.

and im at that point in my system rebuild cycle where i have to basically start over from scratch and do entirely new builds.

AMD needs more low cost graphics cards like Nvidia needs more market corrections.

I want to see an 800 dollar ish card that exists soley to shut nvidia fanboys up. A vega2 card that matches or exceeds nvidia 1080/2080 with a lower power requirement.

When people start seeing a radeon card in the #1 spot, they'll start demanding it and then OEM's will be forced to build with it and the cascade effect will continue. Another budget card does nothing for AMD except continue the status quo. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I would think that AMD has played second fiddle long enough.

I want to see an AMD card that can finally compete with NVIDIA’s offerings. I’m tired of waiting for them to catch up. :/

It’s not like amd is trying to suck at gpu. Keep in mind that the r&d budget for amd graphics is much smaller than Nv.

I would be excited to see such an AMD product, but from everything I've gathered that will not be for quite some time before AMD will challenge the halo products of Nvidia(1--2yrs at soonest???). That said, this is all just things I've read etc.... I have no inside tracks nor do I devour news like I used to, so I could be wrong.

I would myself expect to see vega II maybe challenge the 2080 for similar pricing to Nvidia -$100 give or take. Maybe come close to the 2080ti, but of course lacking the RT abilities etc.... Not sure how much of a "win" that is for them, given I think HBM will make pricing them lower difficult. I think vega II uses HBM anyway, and IMO AMD really tied themselves into a bad marriage with that one. Reminds me of Intel/Rambus, but that was a different fiasco entirely ;p.

Now if I'm wrong, which I hope I am :). Then maybe they will announce something like other rumors suggested in the form of Navi GPU with GDDR5/6 and potentially competing with 2080 and way better on price maybe??? I think that would definitely be enough to steal some of Nvidia's thunder. They wouldn't have the halo product like the 2080ti/Titan etc.... So technically won't have the crown. But they could steal a lot of the market from Nvidia I would think if they priced the cards super attractively. Nvidia really asked for it IMO with the Turing GPU pricing being so insanely high at present.

I would love to buy more AMD stuff..... I'm waiting for something compelling to get me to move from my present 1080ti which I'm happy with. Or something for my son's PC which would have to be enough to justify beating a 970gtx. If the Navi gpus come out and there was a cheaper card that performed like a 1070 that would suit my boy perfectly for what he does right now. That to me is the card to get, at $199 ish per rumors??? But who knows what will happen. Just wishing at this point ;).

I remember when i bought my Vega 56 last year when Kyle posted bundles were available on the Egg. I jumped on the bundle, and for 400 bucks with 3 free games it is still WAY better that anything Green has to offer for PRICE vs. PERFORMANCE. I flashed it with the Vega 64 bios to unlock the clocks .....OCed the hell outta it...put it on water...paired it with a 32' 1440P monitor....and it has no problems playing anything i throw at it. I will ONLY upgrade it when i run into a game that doesn't run the way i want it to. Sure, it will be nice when AMD does come out with the next 'KILLER" card it will be great for all of us...until then if is isn't broke for me, i just don't see a fix.

I want a winning lottery ticket and a supermodel.

No, bro. Vega II will be faster than a 2080Ti. Twice as fast. For $200. Chiplets.

No one has ever made that claim, the second one, anyways. :D

I want that sweet overkill 1080P gaming GFX card that are nice to my power bill, and if i could get it fairly cheap i will be very happy with my all AMD computer for the foreseeable future.
Something like a V64 but more sophisticated / less sledgehammer, maybe a bit better than the V64
BUT, i cant buy anything before late April at the earliest, it do take some time to stuff a piggy-bank when you are on a pension,,,, even a Danish pension.

While that is somewhat true. If AMD comes out with a killer GPU at 300 or less and that is power effeceint. It will sell guaranteed. Polaris got quiet a bit of bad community feedback at launch and it still was power hungry. AMD needs power/performance efficiency. Vega 64+ performance at 150w and at 300 or less will sell shit ton. You can bet on that.

AMD had very bad launches with Polaris and Vega. Had Polaris been as effecient as pascal no one would have complained. ON top they managed to fuck up the PCI-e power delivery. That was just a epic fail under Raja's leadership.

"According to WCCFtech's"

Aaaand stopped reading. WCCF gets rumors straight out of the ass of the person that posts them. They are not reliable, they have never been reliable, they never will be reliable. You might as well post freaking alien sighting stories from the National Inquirer, it will be as valid as a "rumor" from WCCF.

The frustrating part is Vega, Polaris, Fury, Hawaii, and previous Southern Island chips can be very power efficient when manually tuned.

I would like to see an answer from AMD not to make people shut up, but to make more options available for purchase.

But I think it’s forcasted for 2020 and at that time I hope they are competing with Nvidia st that time... Not 2017/2018.

Also how it is lead in "past talks" they could be chit chatting about the weather for all purposes. I mean at this point industry insiders prolly never talk to anyone at wccftech unless they are drunk or have a clear message from their marketing department.

I would certainly hope not let people suffer from their own decision buying Nvidia hardware. It is your money you spend it how you want you provided all the money Nvidia uses for their purposes and their purpose is simple they will make you pay whatever they feel they need from you and will keep doing so. People who bought/buy Nvidia told them that their prices are okay and their marketing/leadership are okay and agreed with the whole Nvidia ecosystem that is driven by their money.
No one ever pulled a gun on Nvidia purchasing people and made them pay money for Nvidia products ....

I don’t even see why it has to be looked at like that “people suffer from buying Nvidia hardware”.

When I picked up my 1080Ti a week after release, what was AMDs option? (This was coming from a 6950 and trying to play at 2550x1440) Non-existent. Hell people who even bought a standard 1080, again what did AMD offer that was competitive? Nothing.

Not really going to touch the 2xxx series, definitely not worth the upgrade over what I have. Also feel the price is a bit crazy, but if my GPU dies or Ibwas several generations behind and was looking for an upgrade, I would buy one.

If in the next couple cycles I am looking to upgrade my GPU, it will go to the side offering the performance I am looking for at a price I am willing to pay.

Funny. When pressed Usman has backpedaled and now he claims Zen2 3000 series is a "paper launch".

So the schedule continue being Q2 launch for Rome and Q3/Q4 for Ryzen.

Then why complain about it in the first place? If you are happy with what you have done, never have I thought of anything but what I did for what reason that I could not live with it.
But on forums you see so many people complaining about no competition, that is something that tells me that you are either not happy with your purchase or not being honest in the first place about why you are complaining about it.

Your purchase is either worth the money or it is not , not both , my purchase is not making me happy because AMD does not compete?
Why do you need competition if what you bought is worth the money ?

I really hope the come out with something soon. My 7970 is getting pretty long in the tooth and I've got the upgrade it. I could care less if its as fast or faster then a 2080. I have no desire to spend $1200 on a GPU, I'm looking from something with decent performance in the $400 range.

I wonder even if they launch it in Jan, if it won't be a paper launch. Everything I've read seems to be in the 2nd half of 2019 for both cpu and gpu. I also wonder about the price, say there is a $250 card.. I sure hope they have a huge stockpile to sell b/c something tells me it'll go out of stock pretty fast, and then prices will inflate.

The announcement is slated for CES 2019 and until then not a lot of people know when exactly but you can maybe look at when Ryzen 2000 series launched.
For the graphics card if it launched either Q1 or Q2 of 2019 then you should expect no shortages.

Why do you need competition if what you bought is worth the money ?

Well with no competition / alternative, you can always tell yourself it was worth the money.
With competition / alternative you will be told by hard facts, if your buy was worth the money or not.

Hard to be delusional facing hard facts, but if you can pull it off, then really you should be into politics.

Neither of my post has complaints, I do not care what what team I game on and that has been my stance for a long long time.

As for the people complaining, maybe they are way to emotionally invested with x company over x. Also it also doesn’t help that people will only go one over the other because people are shills or fuck company x. To beat a dead horse here, none of these companies gave a shit about me when trying to replace an item out of warranty, or buy thousands of dollars worth of hardware... Well Apple did one time.

As for competition, if it’s healthy and trading blows, we generally see newer features/tech faster with crazy performance gains. Instead of minor performance increases with associated cost bumps.

As for my second post it is really meant to let people see, that I am willing to go with the side that has better performance, which AMD did not have when upgrading.
