AMD Link Performance Monitoring App

AMD has released new videos that show how to use the updated AMD Link app to monitor system performance. It now accepts voice commands such as "Hey Radeon" and "Show my FPS." Utilization is shown on-screen for metrics such as CPU, RAM, GPU, GPU VRAM usage and more. Data shown is fully configurable to the user's needs and the app allows computer enthusiasts to adjust, tune, and track the performance of the various subsystems in their AMD powered PCs. It has far more functionality than just displaying performance metrics as it can be used to stream your desktop, customize controllers, capture or stream gameplay, adjust system settings with Wattman and more. Maybe I am just really anti AMD (on the GPU side) since my call with Citrix today but I feel they should be announcing stable drivers and firmware first before this.

The arguments against stable drivers is about as old as time itself, well, since there have been drivers to bitch about... I'm running all Nvidia video cards, their drivers are shit too. Introducing new and unusual issues in watching videos to flashing pixels in web browsing and even constant screen blanking in general on my 2080Ti. This, however, is pretty damn cool. AMD is working on multiple fronts. No reason why they can't develop this and work on their drivers as well (which they are and their talking to the [H] while testing the new Radeon 7 indicates they are actively doing that). For a small company that's essentially the underdog, they manage to impress with a couple things here and there. They might not be the best at anything, but this is pretty damn cool.

No I wanted to get some AMD GPU’s for my new Citrix server but the engineers at Citrix convinced me not too. They say that unless I want to babysit it go green, I could apparently get away with Quadro RTX 6000’s but I get better scaling with Tesla P series so I am now awaiting pricing for some P100’s. I really wanted to keep it all AMD.

Shortly after writin this I checked my email and found a note from the engineer asking me to hold off any purchases and that the AMD V340 card was showing significant promise so as I can wait I think I will hold out hope for the Red Team.

I would agree if it weren’t for the fact the Citrix engineers were very clear to me that the AMD drivers for them generate most of their support calls for a number of the features I require. Where as they told me the they get barely a peap from the Tesla P series and if this server is going to host 100+ instances I need stability most of all. And they only support the Fire Pro’s which are in bad need of an update and I would need 6 of them to get the performance I need where the Tesla’s will do it with 3 or 4.

I'm so glad Citrix engineers are so on top of day one hardware. LO-fucking-L!
What do you expect software support to say on new hardware? I honestly think your just pulling it right now.
Now if Citrix could just focus and tackle their issues (yep I use this shit at work) with basic systems running Intel with iGPU of many years of age, we would all be happier.

You do realize this is for their gaming side right? They have a totally different team working on pro stuff. You are complaining in the wrong forum. Really has nothing to do with what you are looking for.

As I said in that post I was just hating on AMD at that point. I really do want to keep this system all AMD if I can.

Purchase one card and find out. Should be a return policy on the cards correct? Honestly I always tell people it’s in their best interest to find everything for themselves. If that is a viable option I would suggest it so you can make be the best judge for your own decision.

Yeah I could do a partial release of it for one department and slap a 7150x2 for testing and see how that goes. Worst case They hate it and just use their existing system.

Honestly, it would be nice to be able to adjust settings on the fly or load profiles without alt tabbing out of what I'm doing. If it works and people find it useful, I think it's great. Also, probably really nice for people only using a single display.

More specifically, unlike apps like Onedrive or lanuchers, which request everything under the sun, the AMD Link App did not request anything at all.

I have been using the app to monitor fps and temps, made it easier to dial in pump/fan speeds.
