How old are you sir?I'll bring the canes so we have something to wave at them
I go back before any of these social media sites, as I started with a 300 bps dial up modem to CompuServe![]()

40 here, I'm starting to feel it.Upper 50's. Luckily I don't look that old so the age discrimination in the IT world hasn't hit me yet![]()
Okay you win. My earliest I can remember was 14400 into the library using lynx to browse.

Oh, I didn't communicate well. I'm an Accountant, I meant I felt the general aging effects.48 here, and though I think age discrimination is alive and well in IT, I've been fortunate the last few years to land several new positions. I hope I have maybe one more jump left, because as a consultant, the tech treadmill chews people my age up and you just get tired of it.
Didnt pay for Compuserve but had a good number of local BBSes to choose from. Had to be careful back then because same are code didnt always mean the free call, if it was more than 15 miles it cost you per minute... got in trouble a few times with the parents over that. But yep 300 baud modem, had the choice between that and a mouse for a C64 back in the day, both were 29.99.I'll bring the canes so we have something to wave at them

That sucks and sorry to be a dick but.. you had so many years to do that, man. If it didn't happen it's probably not as important as you now think. lolHmm kind of wish I had backed up my photos and conversations on there nowSome of the people aren't alive anymore so would have been nice to have. Anyone know if MySpace ever had a data backup download feature like Facebook has where they let you download all your stuff? If they did I likely used that at some point but I'm not sure if that was ever a thing or not...
Yeah that's true, I may have backed them up somewhere, the problem is finding where the hell I saved that stuff lol. As you said it was years and years agoThat sucks and sorry to be a dick but.. you had so many years to do that, man. If it didn't happen it's probably not as important as you now think. lol

With all the stealth censorship and other shenanigans I've been expecting a Myspace resurgence.
Myspace was silly. Twitter is more noxious than divorce court. Facebook is faulty. Instragram is gross. Tumbler is toxic.
MySpace allowed you to discover/find people and learn CSS.
Facebook allowed grandmas to keep in touch with their kids who are now adult parents.
Snapchat allowed kids to shitpost directly to their contacts.
Twitter allowed everyone to shitpost publicly and media businesses to say that something stupid is trending.
Instagram allowed people to build a fake image to other fake imagers.
Tumblr allowed porn.
People aren't the problem.. Social media is entirely faulty.
Free your mind by letting go. Everything is temporary. The past doesn't even exist, all that's real is now.
