Don't turn off SMT for CPUs 12-core and below. Really only worth turning off for more than 12.Hi, I got a reference 6900XT last October after 6 months of trying my luck in the weekly Thursday drop on AMD.com, I almost fell of my chair that I finally was able to get from the cue in the shop to place an order ... had to lay down for 5min to recover from that.
Happy I stumbled on this tread, had fun reading it and thought I'd also give it a try with the pointers read here:
But first try gave me 12411 graphics score ? On second try, luckily, I spotted the fps at a steady 75 ... yeah, ok, I had Radeon Chill still on
With that out of the way, here are some scores and findings with different settings (but with power limit always +15% and SAM enabled):
Power draw seemed to be max 293W, and max GPU clock seemed to hoover around 2360-2400, with temps around 70°C.
- 20660 (1175mV, VRAM default)
- 20780 (1175mV, VRAM fast timing @2100)
- 20959 (1175mV, VRAM fast timing @2150)
- 21100 (1160mV, VRAM fast timing @2150)
- 21171 (1150mV, VRAM fast timing @2150)
- 21239 (1140mV, VRAM fast timing @2150)
- 21491 (1140mV, VRAM fast timing @2150, SMT off)
- 21512 (1140mV, VRAM fast timing @2150, SMT on, RAM OC)
- 21499 (1140mV, VRAM fast timing @2150, SMT off, RAM OC)
Tried 1130mV, but that would cause the second graphics test to fail.
SMT off (Ryzen 5900X) the first time gave me a boost off 250 points, but when overclocking RAM, there seemed to be no difference anymore in graphics score when turning on/off SMT ?
Original plan was to put an EK classic WB on it, but didn't get to it yet ... I just really like how the reference card looks, and it is also very quiet even under load, it hangs at the wall at arms length in an open air case and it never bothers me (... in comparison, my old Vega64 reference, that HAD to be put under water, because it sounded like a vacuum cleaner).
Dang, I need to try my Asrock Phantom again. I got about 21,200 with MPT, but that was a year ago, and before I got a water block on it.
What water-cooling setup are you running ? (5950X @5.1ghz is also nice)Coolant temp: 23C
Ita a test bench setup and just stick it outside when it's cold enough. 5950X@ 5.1/4.775 1.41v, 560mm 44mm thick EK rads, 32GB CL14 Bdie tuned, Asus Crosshair Hero VIII, 1300W PSUWhat water-cooling setup are you running ? (5950X @5.1ghz is also nice)
That's a real [H] way of doing it, nice one ! ... looking at those temps, seems to be working out quite welljust stick it outside when it's cold enough
I'm not entirely sure what you getting at. It's pretty common for AMD drivers to improve for quite some time after launch, and the gains occurred to my card at stock settings and OC'd. These gains could have occurred closer to launch than when I re-benched in Dec, but either way a 9-10% improvement at 1080p and 1440p ain't bad. That's true (probably) only for the stock cards, if you overclock them you will get improvement from the driver if it fixes a problem with a game, which one is very, very rare and specific for a few games.
For me, this 'fine wine' is a myth. And this is very easy to be tested, I did it with my old RX 480, Vega 56 and my current 6700 XT.
You can get better FPS/scores if you repair/reinstall your Windows/VC++ libraries/broken video driver, but that's different.
OK, I test it for you, and you can see a fast check.I'm not entirely sure what you getting at. Interesting. When I get a bit of free time I'll try a range of driver releases and see what happens.<...words...>
I agree, OP just simply needs to copy and paste from the Nvidia thread. Plus it would be great to show how much more powerful the 6000 series are compared to Ampere.Make a chart someone is willing to maintain with 6800/6900 3dmark results like the 3090 thread, I'd love to see what people are pulling on higher ghz insanity with the better binned silicon.
Yes, I repasted mine with KPx. I'm watercooled though so my temps will be drastically different.Has anyone tried repasting their reference 6800/6900? I'm thinking about it on my ref 6800 xt black to try and bring the junction temp down for OC runs. Normal gaming junction never gets above 72c which is really good. But trying to get a good Time Spy score is becoming an issue. haha
here we can have some friendly competition for achieving the highest Time Spy GPU score. Overclock all you want. Time Spy is available for free here.
We are focused on graphics score, not overall! This allows anyone with a 6900XT and or Cracked out 6800XTs to be competitive since CPU does not play a major role in the GPU score.
The rules are:
1. In your post, please include the score and a link to your validated result, and tell us if it is air cooling, water cooling, or extreme (AC, chiller, dry ice, LN2, hard mods, shunt mods, etc).
2. Leaderboard will consist of top 10 scores per cooling type only.
Have fun!

Just realized I forgot to update.
After a little bit more tweaking, this is the best I've been able to achieve.
I may be able to walk up the core clock by single digits, but I don't think I'll be able to do much better, at least not without extreme cooling.

I will update accordingly and keep an eye on it. I just got done going through all 10 pages lol. I have a lot more score that I wrote down. Just need to get links to peoples TimeSpy Runs and whether they are on Air or not to see if I need to switch people around on the list. I wish I could give everyone the ability to update my post. Don't know if its possible.Sure, why not.
My best score to date was in this post:
Here is the info again:
Graphics Score: 23411
Overall Score: 21714

This is a 6900xt (XFX Speedster Zero WB) on a regular (but beefy) water loop.
So, how do we do this, do we update the leaderboard ourselves?
It would be awesome if OP R-Type would be willing to update and edit it in the first post in the thread.
What drivers are you using? I'm still on the old 21.7.1 drivers from last year. Not sure if 3DMark has update their database to accept 21.10On a side note, has anyone else had issues with instability after AMD driver updates?
With my old Pascal Titan X the best stable settings remained the same for years across countless driver revisions.
On this 6900xt, it seems like every single time I update the drivers, the settings I had are no longer stable, and I need to tinker again to make it stable.
Is this normal for AMD, or is there something wrong with mine?

Yea, they are always a bit slow on that unlike Nvidia's latest drivers are verified, no issue.I did not realize that 3DMark had to update anything to recognize drivers. I usually upgrade drivers every few releases when there is some sort of benefit. I recently installed 22.2.1 to add Dying Light 2 support. Before that I hadn't updated for a few revisions since I didn't plan on playing any of the games in the release notes.
I mean, when it comes to drivers I'm kind of used to just installing whatever the very latest is, and only not doing so when I'm being lazy. I've never intentionally held back for any purpose.
What version of MPT are you using?Oddly I can't get MPT to work on my system. When I try to select my card it just shows a blank option unless it's a fresh reboot, but even when I can select the card it seems to do nothing when I update the max power.

I did download the firmware using GPU-Z and imported into MPT.Have you dumped and loaded the firmware from your GPU using GPU-Z?
I will check when I get home. What version of MPT are you using?

1.38 Beta 2What version of MPT are you using?
I'm using the same one and used 1.37.1. 1.38 seems to be the best that works for my reference. One thing I'm noticing if you have issues with MPT is that you have to test different versions of MPT to see which one works best for your particular card.1.38 Beta 2

Post #373Point me to the post you're updating and I can keep the first post up to date!
I think this is the last time I ran it: http://www.3dmark.com/spy/24118057Post #373
Also, good to see you R-Type. Can you send me a link to your runs and whether they were on Air or Water? Thanks
Awesome! Thank you!I think this is the last time I ran it: http://www.3dmark.com/spy/24118057
I'm running a full cover water block with MPT set to 325W, which lets the card scale to ~360W with the power slider maxed. Good for about 22.5K in graphics score, despite running at x8 3.0 in this X470 board...
Post 1 updated, took the chance to insert my score as well.![]()
What do you feel you need a new CPU? Your 3900X has about another 2000 pts capability. I see you are running 3600mhz on RAM. What is the CL? Is it a single or dual rank kit?Well finally managed to break 20k on timespy, did some card tweaking to see what I could get up to. I am going to need a cpu upgrade to go much further though, as that is what is holding my score back

What do you do with your PC? Game? Anything else especially having 64gb of ram? CL16 is fine. Here is my 3900X. This is with Bdie CL14 3733. If you do a 5900X will be great but even a 5800X is also a great option.I dont really need one, but I do like to upgrade and want to get the last big upgrade for my AM4 board. As for my ram its a 64 GB CL 16 dual rank 4X16 kit.
