DDR3-2191Mhz 7-7-7-21 1T at 1.78v

System:
  • Intel Core i7 980X 3951A763 B1 Step 2 ES
  • EK Supreme LT H20 + TFC480 + MCP655
  • Asus P6T6 WS Revolution 0609 beta bios
  • Sapphire HD5870 10.3 beta
  • 6GB Kingston 2000C8 (KHX2000C8D3TK3/6GX)
  • 80GB Intel X25-M G2 SSD (OS)
  • 120GB OCZ Vertex SSD (DATA)
  • Pioneer DVR216 Burner
  • Corsair HX1000
  • Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit RTM (fully updated)

Not bad first time playing with tRCD 7 at >2000Mhz speeds being 32M stable - will be interesting to see how much more head room there is :)

lol... voltage is fairly mild for benching :D

How about 6-6-6-20 1T :D Windows max 32M Pi @DDR3-1850Mhz 6-6-6-20 1T, max 1M Pi @DDR3-1880Mhz 6-6-6-20 1T and validation @DDR3-1893Mhz 6-6-6-20 1T.

max 32M Pi @DDR3-1850Mhz 6-6-6-20 1T

max 1M Pi @DDR3-1880Mhz 6-6-6-20 1T

max validation @DDR3-1893Mhz 6-6-6-20 1T

CPU VTT = 1.50v
VDIMM = 1.76v

Haha, i'm everywhere :D

My 2nd fastest PB for 32M - yeah H20 cooled only :)

The resulting 32M Pi time ended up my 2nd fastest PB time just behind my W3520 + DFI UT X58-T3EH8 @4794Mhz H20 time of 7min 24.422s

4769Mhz with DDR3-2167Mhz 7-7-7-21 at 1.8v for 7min 24.937s. Very close to the limits of the voltages used and/or close to my max H20 cooled i7 980X Super Pi 32M stability or could be memory limit considering this KHX2000C8D3T1K3/6GX kit did DDR3-2160mhz 7-7-7-21 at 1.78v for 32M with same i7 980X.

Finally new PB for 7-7-7-21 validation at @DDR3-2235Mhz 7-7-7-21 at 1.8v

6GB Kingston 2000CAS8 KHX2000C8D3T1K3/6GX scaling tests, when I reduced the Uncore frequency multiplier from 24x to 23x - I reduced the Uncore frequency from 4128Mhz to 4071Mhz and thus managed to jump from DDR3-2064Mhz to DDR3-2124Mhz at the same voltages of 1.45v CPU VTT and 1.66v VDIMM all thanks to Core i7 980X's lower minimum Uncore to Memory ratio requirements!

6GB Kingston 2000CAS8 KHX2000C8D3T1K3/6GX
@DDR3-2124Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at 1.66v
  • 23x 177bclk = 4071Mhz cpu frequency
  • 23x 177bclk = 4071Mhz Uncore frequency (cpuz reports it as NB frequency)
  • 18x 177bclk = 3186Mhz QPI frequency
  • 12x 177bclk = DDR3-2124Mhz memory frequency

Managing to use TurboV to push bclk incrementally until I reached DDR3-2230Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at 1.45v CPU VTT and 1.66v VDIMM !
  • 23x 186bclk = 4275Mhz cpu frequency

  • 18x 186bclk = 3345Mhz QPI frequency

Nice sticks, my hyper-based sticks wont do high clocks like that but will do that 1800mhz 6-6-6 with no issues :(

Thanks, maybe a bit more tweaking will get you there :)

How about DDR3-2305Mhz 8-8-8-24 at 1.66v air cooled memory :D

6GB Kingston 2000CAS8 KHX2000C8D3T1K3/6GX
@DDR3-2184Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at 1.66v
Next step was to drop the Uncore multiplier one more step from 23x to 22x. You'd think this would by default allow higher memory clocks, but it didn't. The reason being on Asus P6T6 WS Revolution, Uncore frequency is tied to Round Trip Latency (RTL) A/B/C channels and auto adjusts to tighter RTL values as you lower the Uncore multiplier. For further reading on this check out the info about optimal Uncore to DRAM memory ratios for Core i7 980X.

So next step is to manually loosen RTL A/B/C channel values with Uncore multiplier dropped from 23x to 22x which allowed windows to boot in and pass single Super Pi 32M run @DDR3-2184Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at same 1.45v CPU VTT and 1.66v VDIMM ! And ended up max screenshot captured clocks at DDR3-2305Mhz 8-8-8-24 1T at same voltages.

  • 23x 182bclk = 4186Mhz cpu frequency
  • 22x 182bclk = 4014Mhz Uncore frequency (cpuz reports it as NB frequency)
  • 18x 182bclk = 3276Mhz QPI frequency
  • 12x 182bclk = DDR3-2184Mhz memory frequency

Indeed, sometimes that little setting that you normally overlook is the one that is holding back the system. I've had that happen all too many times.

Good to see you still around and kicking ass with memory, I remember when running 32M on DDR2 over 600mhz was awesome.. things have come a long way since I bailed on this insanity :D
