Created a windows 11 boot disk on a USB thumbdrive
Deleted the unneeded partitions on the C drive and installed Windows to unallocated space
Install process completed
But now , when my computer boots , it will only boot to bios
I have tried switching the boot order between my C drive and the USB Windows thumb drive , but I get the same boot into bios every time
I've cleared the Cmos on my motherboard and tried it again but I still get the same result

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Did you update your bios to include the new UEFI certs and stuff from MS?

I had this issue and when I used Rufus originally, I had set it to include the 2023 updates, and it kept going to the bios, even though my Bios was updated to the most recent version.

How did you create your USB drive? MS Creation tool, Rufus or something else?

This ^^^ I had the same issue using Rufus, so now I don't check that box to use the new secure boot certs. I would suggest using Rufus to create the USB boot as the MS one probably is using the newer secure boot certs.

Also, best thing is to delete ALL partitions on the disk ( or do a diskpart /clean), then choose the empty space for the install

It's probably not a GPT partition table. Minitool Partition Wizard is a good way around that since diskpart & Disk Management console suck with it...

Oh,. I just mentioned that since you said unneeded partitions, this is the only drive in the system?

make sure the bios is up to date. disconnect any storage drives. get another usb stick, clean it using "diskpart" and then create a new installer. boot from that, clean your drive with "diskpart", and then let windows setup the partition into.

disconnect it before windows fucks it up.
The backup drive? How would windows fuck it up if im only reinstalling windows onto my C drive, not my D (backup) drive? Im not touching that in terms of doing my reinstall. Are you saying Windows is going to wipe that one too?

no, but it likes to randomly put the efi onto on random drives or you may get confused and do something to it. so, be safe and unplug it, or dont, im not your mom....

Never leave important drives attached when installing, just good hygiene.

A mis click or typo and you wipe the drive no questions asked. Just a good practice. Or windows tries to encrypt it.

I tried the Rufus method. Have tried on 2 different USB flashdrives and keep getting this result when I boot from either partition 1 or 2 on the drive

go to the bios boot section, make sure csm is off. make sure all uefi is on. remake a real usb stick, no a rufus one.

Diabaleing CMS didn't help, still ge the same message scroll with the same fail message

There is no disable option in Secure Boot. I see this:
OS type -
Other OS
Windows UEFI mode , which is what hase been set at

Secure Boot Mode-
Standard
Custom

Selecting custom brings up a key management section with these sections:
Clear Secure Boot Keys
Save all Secure Boot Variables
PK management
KEK managme
DB management
DBX management

I did all this w thr Rufus flash drive
I also have the Windows Media Creation Tool Windows 11 flash drive I can use instead

Update - got it fixed by setting OS type to Other OS. Was able to prodeed then with the installation. That was an annoying series of hurdles to jump but thanks folks for sharing the solution
