This. Diablo 2/3/4 , Grim Dawn, POE1/2 are all about getting to the endgame and getting top tier gear. The problem with most games now are they do targeted loot for your class. Diablo 2 is still my favorite for itemization. You could find something really cool for a different class that would make you want to start all over just so you could use that item.

As for difficulty easiest to hardest, I would say Diablo > Grim Dawn > POE1/2. They are all fun but if you only play through the campaign on any of them, you are just scratching the surface.
 
Also.. POE2 has a new WASD movement system which is so awkward for the first day or so getting used to it. But, it's really nice for a ranged character.

The new expansion looks absolutely insane. I can't decide if I'm going to play this league, or wait until December for 1.0. Jonathan made it pretty clear 1.0 is launching this year, and that patch is even bigger than this one. They said they're announcing it at exilecon in November.
 
This game is going to be massive once it's all said and done. I'll probably be playing this on and off for half a decade. I really like what I'm seeing.

I played last season, it's probably in the best place it's been in honestly. The game still zooms and has a great feel to it once your build is up. They added a ton QoL to it as well.
